In 2013 I decided to live life differently and start from the ground up building with natural materials and found materials. At that time I was fortunate enough to have the land passed to me and I started building a home for myself and to be close to my mothers home nearby. Here, you can enjoy an “off-the-grid” experience without giving up convenience: food delivery is still just a tap away, and last-minute essentials are an easy drive.
At Camp Moondog, our philosophy is simple: provide a carefree, clean, and natural environment for a relaxing camping experience. If we’re available, we’re happy to use our ATVs to help transport your gear to any of the campsites—just give us at least a day’s notice so we can plan to meet you.
Because the property naturally offers ample deadfall for firewood, we do not provide or sell pre-packaged bundles. Please keep this in mind if there has been recent rainfall, as the downed wood may be damp.

This site is a singular rental. You will have it to yourself. You may choose to camp with friends in which there is space for an Rv and a pull behind or two small rvs. It can also be used to tent camp. There is a small shed with a full bunk on bottom and a twin on top. A table with two chairs and electric fireplace. There is in addition, a small A/C unit in the shed. It is a small space with nothing but outlets and a small refrigerator. You will need to bring all of your essentials. Pillows/Sheets/Linens/towels are not provided. The bath house is steps away. You will need towels/rags/soap/toilet paper and all essentials. It is merely a toilet, sink, and shower.
There is a Weber charcoal grill available on site. Bring your essentials.

If you are driving N/NW on David's Home Church Rd, it is exactly 2 miles on the right from where you turned onto the road. Mike and Kelly were responsive and super easy to work with. I stayed at the far out site, which is worth the short hike to have a spot on the river. Some of the best sleep I’ve ever had camping… I think the sound of the river helped. Felt like I had the whole place to myself. Looking forward to staying here again when I get the chance.

We met one of the hosts, Mike, as soon as we arrived. He was incredibly welcoming and even helped us carry our gear down to the campsite. The location by the river was beautiful. It had all the allure of backpacking into a remote site without any of the effort. I'd recommend this spot to anyone looking for an easy but authentic outdoor experience

My family had a wonderful time camping on Maggie’s land! We pulled up and had a beautiful view of Paris Mountain. There was ample flat surfaces for tent setup. We enjoyed walking around the trails and had a bonus surprise of there being a little playhouse and sandbox that our 2 and 4 year old played in all evening! We will absolutely be back!

We loved this place it was very peaceful and private. We enjoyed campfires with the beautiful river view. Just what we needed for a trip away from city life. The indoor room was a bonus when it rained. Would love to come back in the future.

I highly recommend this camp site. It is minutes from the downtown area, but still far enough away for outdoor seclusion. Very quiet, clean, and the environment itself was fantastic. Being my kids first time camping was a big deal for me and this spot provided all the stops for a great child-hood memory with their parents. The Saluda river runs along all sites (including a nice cabin) and can be heard through the light rapids just a short walk away. Mike was really hospitable in taking the time to not only transport our gear to the site, but to show us some of the best “hangout spots” near the water. Excellent place for tubing and swimming in the warmer months, and we will be definitely returning for that. My kids absolutely loved it and of all the many outdoor excursions that I have taken them on they have repeatedly said this was the best one. They literally had NOTHING negative to say about it. If you do not visit here, whether an experienced camper or not, you’re missing out for sure. If I could leave 10 stars I would.

We came in late and was setting up camp in the dark when we heard footsteps coming towards us from the forest. It's when we realized a cute little kitten had wandered over to hang out with us. We told the campsite owner and they were really friendly. Our group had such a great time, and the kitten hanging out with us all night made it even better.

We had a fantastic stay at Site 4 and would absolutely camp here again. The site was very clean and well maintained, which immediately made setting up camp easy and enjoyable.
One pleasant surprise was that a picnic table and chairs were already provided. We weren’t expecting that, and it made cooking and hanging out around camp much more comfortable.
The site itself is large, with plenty of space for our group. There were 4 adult women and 2 babies, both 1 year. We comfortably fit two vehicles, a trailer, a large bell tent, and my friend’s four-person tent with room to spare. It never felt crowded.
The river nearby was beautiful and very clean, adding to the peaceful atmosphere. Wildlife sightings made the trip even better, we saw bats flying at dusk, herons along the water, rabbits, squirrels, and a fox.
At night we heard a pack of coyotes howling far in the distance, which actually added to the experience. It made the area feel wonderfully remote and wild, while still feeling completely safe the entire time. (No coyotes came anywhere near camp.)
Overall, Site 4 is spacious, scenic, and peaceful, a perfect spot for anyone wanting a true outdoor experience while still having a comfortable campsite setup, and feeling safe. Highly recommended!
