Featuring a 10' x 12' canvas tent erected on a wooden platform, furnished with a queen-size futon mattress atop a bed frame, we provide essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Guests can expect a battery-operated sprayer for rinsing off, battery-operated lanterns, tiki torches, a small charcoal grill, charcoal, lighter fluid, fire starter, and the first night's firewood. Camp Blackbird is a 28 acre property that runs along Beltzville State Park in Carbon County, PA. So besides the camp, there is an additional 3,002-acres of state park to explore. There are a total of 2 sites.
The land was vacant for decades and unfortunately used to dump household garbage during that time. We cleaned up the land, built a home and bat habitat. We, Sarah and Stein, always disliked renting a camp site somewhere and then ending up on top of people.
So it was our goal to make space on our land for campers like us that want to be surrounded by nature, not other camp sites.
A portion of the proceeds from your stay will be donated to bat habitat conservation and bat sanctuaries around the world.
We are grateful for the hundreds of campers that have stayed with us. Thank you to all of you that have left a clean site and not made unnecessary noise that would disturb the countless species that share the forest with us. Also, Thank You for patronizing local businesses while you are here.
We'll give you a map so you can see where to take a short walk to get to the lake.
There are miles of hiking trails a few minutes walk from your campsite.
Beltzville Lake is a great place for paddling. The boat launch is just a few minutes drive from Camp.
In addition to the beautiful immediate surroundings, we are centrally located near many exciting destinations. Year round activities at Blue Mountain Resort, adventure on The Appalachian Trail, fine dining, biking the rail trail and whitewater rafting in Jim Thorpe, all within a 25 minute drive.
The property is not suitable for parties or events.
The area is a QUIET ZONE. Ideal for people looking to unplug from it all and become one with nature. It is teaming with wildlife and is ideal for birding.
The hosts mission is to disturb wildlife and its habitats as little as possible.
VERY IMPORTANT - NO PARTIES or unregistered guests on the property. There are other campgrounds in the area that are great for people who want to party.

I had the most wonderful time at twin oaks! The site is perfect, nice elevated clear platform to pitch the tent, it would easily fit 2 tents. The large boulders set up around both the tent site and the fire pit are really ingenious. My favorite thing about the site was the fire pit. I was able to keep a fire going the entire time I was there, and one of the greatest things is that a full load of firewood was available as soon as I got there. And the tools for maintaining the fire were a really nice touch too! The surroundings are green and peaceful, and my pup and I really enjoyed just being able to unplug, and soak in the beautiful sounds and sights this unique and lovely property. Please remember to bring work gloves or use the tongs provided to get your firewood from the wood pile as wood piles are favorite spots for spiders,! Having a great cup of coffee and a really hearty breakfast fireside overlooking the beautiful meadow and woods was just plain good for my soul! I can't wait to visit again in the fall when the leaves are changing. Stephen and Carol are kind gracious hosts, their property is lovely, and it was a pleasure to meet Wally and Daphne! I would recommend having four-wheel or all-wheel drive to get up the hill to the campsite, but its seclusion is what makes it so perfect!

Laurel's communication was excellent and complete. We knew exactly what to expect and what to do in the area. Big Bear is a former campground that now seems to be all individually owned sites with very large or permanent rigs. It was very quiet - we saw very few people. The community bathroom was spotless. Our site was level and easy to access.

It was a relaxing environment. There were other campers who arrived after me, but I couldn't hear them at all. Check in was easy. Jeffrey was very responsive, and was ready with recommendations for food and fishing. Mel, the caretaker on site helped build a fire to keep the bugs away. He is very kind and had a nice chat. My stranger - averse dog took to him quickly, a good sign.

Jerry has a beautiful property and I am grateful we got to spend a weekend there. He gave clear instructions to find it. The property is large with plenty of space to explore. Also some wild life: saw a bald eagle, heron, deer, and my favorite the local beavers. The kayaks were especially a great touch. We had an awesome time and hope to visit again in the future!

Lovely. Located on beautiful grounds. Perfect camping cabin. FYI, there are no provisions. No coffee, no sugar, no paper towels, etc. You have to bring everything in. Like a campground basically.This is not a complaint- but important to know. Plan ahead.

Hands down the best camping setup and the best host we’ve ever encountered!
As frequent campers, our group is used to roughing it and doing without, but Cat’s Camp blew every expectation out of the water. It was everything we hoped for and more for a 5 day/4 night Labor Day Camping Trip.
Vincent is a top-tier host; stand-up guy, helpful, and exceptionally communicative. He answered every question via the app in under 30 minutes. When we asked about firewood beforehand, he arranged to have a half-cord delivered directly to the site before we arrived so we could immediately dive into the campfire vibe.
To top it off, he brought in an extra porta-potty to comfortably accommodate our group of 12. And trust me, we put that Porto through the wringer! (See kitchen review below).
Standout Highlights:
The Kitchen - The lean-to has a fully STOCKED kitchen that we put through SERIOUS work. We cooked up everything from scratch - gumbo, pumpkin chili, tacos, breakfast burritos, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, fire-smoked eggplant, hanger steak, Italian hoagies, and grilled cheese. It handled it all effortlessly.
The Bathhouse - LEGENDARY. The ingenious, homemade setup with a keg mounted over a propane burner for hot showers is pure genius.
The Atmosphere - Incredible elevated views from the top of the site paired with the soothing sound of the babbling brook made the whole trip.
Vincent is officially the gold standard for hosts. We can’t wait to come back!

First of all, the place is gorgeous and very well maintained. The porta potties flush and have real sinks (with a foot pump). In addition to the standard picnic table and fire ring that comes with most campsites this place provides a giant bottle of non potable water to put out your camp fire which I think is so thoughtful and responsible. Firewood is available for purchase and the bag is HUGE for the price (as of 8/29/26 it was $12). The wine here is fantastic too. It seems no matter which site you choose you get a great view. My advice would be to bring some kind of shade as shade can be sparse depending on your site. I will absolutely be back. This was such a relaxing weekend.

Pictures don’t do the beauty of his land justice-my highlight reel was a variety of beautiful mosses, mushrooms, quartz-embedded rocks, and even a hummingbird came by! Our three year old was obsessed with all Scott’s vehicles, particularly the side by sides, and he graciously indulged his interest. This was a great way to keep a toddler busy spending his time outside exploring in tiny hiking boots, building fires, and learning all about coexisting with wild animals and nature instead of playing with toys inside. I loved having a break from being the entertainment. The watering hole and waterfalls were definitely a must visit, and don’t let the cool water deter you from getting in a tube. The whole setup made it so you could just bring yourself and some food. He even had games and books you could borrow. Thank you for a truly memorable weekend.

We have stayed here several times and each time it just gets better and better. Such a beautiful, peaceful site to float on the river or just sit and watch all of the wonderful wildlife. Can't wait to come back. Thank you Richard!
