The history of the Pump House began in 1878, when three ambitious men hatched a plan for the world's first long-distance underground oil pipeline which would transport oil from well to refinery more quickly and efficiently than the horse-drawn wagons of the time. Pumping stations were needed every fifty miles along this long route to keep pressure on the pipeline so that the oil could reach its destination. Pump House Bed and Breakfast is one of the only properties in the country in which the both the original homes of the foremen and the large brick buildings remain. Doug, owner, has spent more than 20 years lovingly restoring these foreman houses as well as the large industrial brick buildings. The Brick Barn Hall once housed steam pumps to pressurize the pipe and keep the oil moving, and the Catawissa Cabin behind it served as the telegraph office. The Studio Hall contained boilers that produced the steam to power the pumps, while the adjoining Studio Cabin functioned as a blacksmith's workspace. Today, the buildings function as reception spaces for weddings and other special events, and house private suites as well as an art studio where Doug pursues his work and teaches drawing, ceramics, and stained glass classes. Whether you are feeding the need for your family's adventure or looking to get back to nature and relax, River Rock Recreation campsite can accommodate your needs. You will find yourself living a unique outdoor lifestyle during your stay at River Rock Adventures campsite. A private launch allows kayak, SUP, and other paddleboat access. Public boat launches near by that allow for trailer and boat access. Fish the river banks all day and night for the biggest catch or teach a new generation of fisherman the love of the sport. Hike or bike the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail, explore all it has to offer on its 14 mile stretch from Falmouth to Columbia. You can even get the kids excited and involved by Geocaching on the way! Want to relax and create memories? Let the children discover the swing and Teepee play structure to promote imaginative playtime in nature, make fairy or gnome home out of sticks and stones, teach knot tying, animal track and constellation recognition or organize a scavenger hunt! We will be decorated for Halloween. We are currently working a scary trail. Pitch your tent along Irish Creek under a canopy of Maples at Mystic Hollow. Irish Creek stream is a tributary to the Schuylkill River. The land is mostly flat for walking to camping area. There is also a small bridge that goes over a small strip of wetlands. Fire rings are included. I can haul your gear to your spot with tractor and wagon if needed. There is a port-a-potty close by. If you have your own portapotty, you must take the waste with you. We have no way to dispose of human waste. Absolutely no disposing of human waste on the property or in the trash. There will be a fine. We are flexible with check-in and check-out times if we are not at full capacity. Just let us know ahead of time. We allow dogs. They must be on leashes unless they are friendly and play well with others. You must clean up your dog's poop! No exceptions! We are 5 minutes from the Schuylkill River. 10 minutes from Ontelaunee Lake. 15 minutes from Blue Marsh. 15 minutes from the Appalacian Trail. Trail heads nearby Port Clinton, Hamburg, Bernville, Bethel, Blue Rocks, Kempton... 20 minutes from Hawk Mountain. We are an hour from Jim Thorpe. There are several wineries in the area including Long Trout Winery where wine is cool and hippy chicks rule! My favorite! Lots of wildlife. Expect to hear owls, blue heron, cows, goats, chickens, hawks, eagles, dogs, racoons and coyotes. Racoons will steal food that is not put away or in coolers. Deer may walk past in the middle of the night. Hiking, kayaking, tubing, fishing, mountain biking, bike trails, etc... all nearby. Sadly there are no fish in Irish Creek worth catching. The Crayfish are! As with any land situated along a water source, there is always a possibility of flooding. We flood maybe once a year, once every other year. If that should happen, we will assist in hauling gear. There is higher ground for tents to be set up if need be. There will also be rooms available to rent in the near future. I had an amazing time camping on Scott's property! Very peaceful! Multiple campsites , some in the open and some secluded. I felt extremely safe & alone despite a few houses being visible in the far background. This is a great place to solo camp or even bring kids. Please be wear there are hunters out and its alot of them. So you may hear gunshots and dogs but thats what the outdoors is all about! 10 out of 10 !

Everything was awesome. The little cabin stayed so warm and was the perfect size for our family of three plus our doggo! The land was beautiful. Theresa and her husband were both so kind. We loved meeting their farm of animals. And she was easy to get a hold of and easy to chat with. We will definitely be going back. The porta potty is a short walk and they are working on a bunch of upgrades in the cabin too. The emus are wonderful and sweet, we visited them multiple times a day. I could go on and on. 100% recommended for an upgraded camping experience. Look forward to trying them out in warmer weather too!

This is the second time camping here and it was just a wonderful as last time, even in the cold weather. I loved how 2 of the goats came to greet us and looked so happy to see us! Wonderful hosts, great space, and really cool vibes. The plunge pool was closed but we made great use of the fire pit & loved the vibe of the whole place. Firewood was amply available for a cheap fee and we especially enjoyed the dogs. Will definitely be back again.

The camp site was perfect!! The distance from the car to the site was nice so moving the camping equipment was a breeze. Mel was an awesome host!! She was accommodating and very welcoming!! She made sure my friends and I had everything we need to make our camping experience pleasant. The environment was quiet and scenery. Her pets( a dog and alot of cats)were friendly and wanted lots of attention. She is in the process of building and remodeling. I can't wait to come back when she has everything settle!!!

Fantastic stay! The farm is amazing and site #3 was beautiful. We had the perfect weekend. Host was very friendly and the communication was great! We felt very welcome. Hawk Mountain Sanctuary is just a few minutes away and the site itself is nicely set up, very quiet and private with a picturesque view of the mountain. Highly recommend! We are already looking forward to returning.

We loved camping at the pond! Mary was a lovely host. The spot was very peaceful and directions were clear. We saw two herons in the morning. We also enjoyed the ice cream made on the farm. Definitely plan to return.

Treehouse is cozy even when it’s way below freezing! Come enjoy!!

Our time in the treehouse was magical. It was my 13 year old son and I. He is 6’1” and he was able to comfortably sleep in the loft. Bill and everyone at Fairview Farms was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The stargazing was phenomenal; I highly recommend a dip in the hot tub under the stars. I would recommend bringing a heated blanket in the colder months. I brought ours and it was the perfect mix of cold and snuggly warm. There is a heater that works like a charm, with the blanket we only used it during the day.

Weekend Trip to Peace & Quiet by the River!

This is our second year staying at Susan's Christmas Tree Farm campsite! and we'll be back again! I think going late October almost insures you'll have the whole place to yourself which makes for a really peaceful and relaxing stay... probably a little too cold for some but I love the cold! Campsite is always prepared and clean, stocked with your (pre-purchased) firewood, water and a sink to clean dishes and a cool little port-a-potty! The view of Hawk Mountain is incredible especially with a lit night sky and the moon! last year we hiked Hawk Mountain and this year we hiked a bit of the Appalachian Trail only couple miles form the campsite. My favorite local place for beers and a burger is McKeansburg Hotel and Tavern great bartender, service and friendly local hangout! I highly recommend this place!

Weekend Trip to Scenic Turtle Ridge

We had a wonderful time camping at site 2 at Tom's place. It was so peaceful and beautiful and a short walk away from some great trails at the next door neighboring park. Room was a great host. He spent a while with us to show us around, introduce us to his goats, chickens and geese, and tell us the history of the area and his property. He had a working bathroom, a coffee machine, which was awesome because i forgot my coffee, and we bought a dozen of his farm eggs. After that he gave us our space and privacy but let us know he was available if we needed him. We can't wait to come back.
