This increase will hit us hard and we have no choice but to increase our prices as well* Hemlock Hideaway and its 18 acres was originally part of a larger 100-acre plot that was surveyed and settled in the late 1700's by Gideon Granger of the Connecticut Land Company. Granger sold it to one Jehoikim Burget in 1815 for the whopping price of $400. The resident house was built in 1816 by Burget and then passed down to family members over the next 5 generations, until we bought it in 2003, marking the first time the house and remaining property were ever officially sold. In the mid 1800's, a grist mill was put up across the river from the cabin, and our creek was the main road in and out of that operation. There is a gravestone belonging to the wife of Jehoikim's son, she being half Native American and therefore couldn't be buried in the local white cemetery. We also own the original hand-written deed from 1815 detailing the sale of the original 100 acres to Jehoikim Burget. Learn more about this land: Our primitive cabin nestled in the woods overlooking the Grand River is a nature-lover's paradise! Come canoe, fish, experience wine country, or unplug and just get away from it all. Please note: There is no running water or electricity at the site, but the cabin is generator-ready and there is an outhouse. The cabin does have a wood burning stove for heat and simple cooking, however there is no running water or electricity. That being said, the building is wired and has plugs and outlets and is generator-ready. You provide your own generator and fuel. We provide sheets, pillows, flashlights, a fire ring with cooking grate, charcoal grill (you provide the charcoal), access to firewood, and an outhouse with toilet paper. Our 1/4 mile of Grand River frontage can be accessed right outside the cabin door via a quick hike down the steep hillside. If hiking isn't preferred, then a quick two-minute drive will take you to the Harpersfield Covered Bridge Metropark - a favorite of local fishermen. It is a lyrical voyage through the seasons at the Sawdust Tract in Northeast Ohio. She details encounters with the wildlife of the area as well as the changing seasons and plant life. Reminiscent of Thoreau's writings about Walden. In 1978 an additional house was moved onto the property from Sidley's gravel pit and joined with the existing Klein farmhouse. We decided to preserve almost 400 acres of the property with the help of the Western Reserve Land Conservatory for the Cleveland Museum Of Natural History, Natural Areas. Forest is home to the red-sided dace, and 10 rare species of birds, including cerulean warblers. The original small family farm and surrounding woods we have retained are being restored and updated. The skies are dark at night and the sounds of nature will surround you. Campsite 1 is near where the farmhouse and barn once stood. The site is shaded by large, old maples that once shaded the farmhouse. Old fields surround the farmstead, but the woods are a short walk away. It is the most popular campsite with an outhouse, fire ring and picnic table available. Campsite 2 is on the other side of the property. There is a fire ring but no picnic table. Both sites easily accommodate anything from tents to RV's. Each site has a separate, gated, gravel road access. These are the only 2 campsites on the property and they are far enough apart (1/4 mile) to avoid any contact should both sites be occupied. There is a 2-mile loop hiking trail on the property that traverses a variety of habitats which are home to many animals and birds. The trail is well maintained and mowed. The terrain is flat to gentle slopes. The 1/2-mile Narnia Loop trail weaves through a young spruce forest like a maze. It is so cool, literally, even on the hottest days. The Allegheny River is about 10 miles away, near Tidioute, PA, and has excellent paddling and fishing. Titusville, PA is about 15 miles away and is home to Oil Creek State Park which has great trout fishing, an excellent paved bike/hike trail, and Drake Well Museum site of the first oil well ever drilled. Finally, you will be on the doorstep to the Allegheny National Forest with all the outdoor recreation it has to offer. We hope you enjoy the peace and quiet of nature on our property as much as we have. It is the perfect getaway with being far enough away but not to far from plenty to do. A small cozy cabin nestled in the woods with a back drop that is perfect for every sunrise to sunset. Geneva on the lake is only 15 mins away with plenty of stuff to make for a busy weekend or to stay put and light a fire, relax and unwind. The hosts are very accommodating and easy to work with. A great time for all people and their pets!

Weekend Trip to CHERRY VALLEY CHILL

I had a great weekend of camping. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. The wood burning stove provided the perfect amount of warmth. I enjoyed the sounds of all the wildlife outside the doors. From the geese to the pack of howling coyotes, to all the farm animals in the area. Tim had the outside fire pit already set and the inside stove as well. He made sure we were stocked with more than enough wood for the weekend, and messaged me to make sure I still had enough wood. The outdoor porta potty was very clean and a very nice perk from our normal camping locations. It was also nice being able to let my dog run free all weekend. He enjoyed that very much. I highly recommend this site and will definitely be coming back here again!

We were warmly greeted by host with fire blazing in fire pit & woodstove! Plenty of firewood provided. Very appreciated on a cold evening in Nov! Beautiful site!!! Can’t say enough! Loved all of the lights, the pull down platform was great for our folding mattress, even a charging station for our phones, plenty of room for ourselves & our pups. The outhouse was convenient & clean. Felt very private. Highly recommend!

Bill and Nancy were very quick to respond, accommodating and helpful! He even even offered to loan me a sleeping bag when the weather was colder than I'd planned for! I ended up caught in traffic and was not able to stay there, but I have their place on my list for cross-country drives!

Easy check in. Beautiful property. I highly recommend this glamping experience to anyone. My friend and I split the Waggin Tails covered wagon and were blown away at how roomy and comfortable it was. The wood and easy start kindling that's provided was a lovely bonus. The coffee shop uses the most delicious beans. I made sure I bought a bag to bring home so my husband could taste them. I enjoyed myself so much that I bought a gift card as a Christmas gift for a family member so they can come experience this campground with their family.

We stayed at site #5 and everything was perfect. The host Curtis and the site. We arrived and noticed he left some dry kindling to start a fire and they have plenty of firewood to purchase. The tent was clean and even had a chair to use. The bathroom was really close and the views were amazing. We definitely will return in the future.

We cant express how stunning this property is. The pictures simply don't do it any justice. Barry and his son were wonderful hosts during our stay. They provided plenty of fire wood and water. The bed was comfortable and the tent was cozy. They did offer a heater in case we were too cold at night but we were just fine. Waking up to the sounds of nature and the creek were incredible. Saw my first bald eagle in real life! We couldn't be happier. This site has now become a tradition for us. Cant wait to visit again

This was my second time staying at this site. It’s very quiet and secluded yet only 10 minutes from all of the Geneva wineries. The tent is a good size and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely be back soon!
