Cedar Bloom was purchased in the spring of 2017 by Spirit Weavers Gathering as a place of peace and healing, for all walks of life. Spirit Weavers is an annual women's gathering which happens once a year each June. We host over 1,200 women in just two weeks on the land. Our beautiful forested land is located in Southern Oregon, in a small town off the 199 Redwood Highway. The land which we call home is 100 acres of beautiful protected forest and sits upon a mile of the Illinois River. We are very fortunate to be surrounded by a widely diverse population of flora and fauna. As caretakers of this sacred land, we feel a strong responsibility to honor our plant and animal allies by not only protecting them and their habitat, but also to help educate others about what lives and grows here by providing people with opportunities to experience the beauty of these plants and animals for themselves. Crater Lake Woodlands is part of the historic Katydid Ranch. Once owned by Boise Cascade who used it both for growing seedlings to replant logged mountain sides and as a vacation getaway for their executives, the story of Katydid Ranch goes back to the early 1900's when it's owner named "Katy" used it as the "half-way" overnight lodging for horse & buggy guests traveling to Crater Lake from the Rogue Valley. Leaving the valley at the crack of dawn, they could arrive at "Katy's" by nightfall, in time for a meal and sound mountain sleep. They'd hitch up at dawn and make it to Crater Lake by nightfall. Historically, the first residents were the Rogue River Takelma and Latgawa native Americans. Latgawa lived in the Rogue Valley of interior southwest Oregon. In their own language "Latgawa" means "those living in the “uplands," though they were also known as the Walumskni by the neighboring Klamath tribes. Specifically, Ha-ne-sakh. The Latgawa were one of two peoples who spoke the Takelma language. They were hunters, gatherers, weavers and fished the Rogue River. They were known to have a stationary settlement and trading post at the Katydid Ranch location. Their tribes lived in the upper Rogue River area extending beyond Prospect and Union up to Crater Lake. Since we've owned the Ranch, we've maintained the custom of welcoming overnight guests and at the same time, we continue to honor the protected wildlife designation given to it back in the 50's. Wildlife viewing is one the delights we share with our guests. Please be mindful of native wildlife keeping dogs on leash so as to avoid chasing and barking at wildlife. Thank you. The animals here include, but are not limited to black tail deer, elk, fox, coyote, ringtailed cat, raccoon, skunk, and also typically farther up the mountain are the elusive mountain lions and black bear which we have never spotted on our property. The ponds and surrounding area are home to migratory to the Oregon Pond turtle, Canada geese, quail, wild turkeys, various owls including the great horned owls, hawks, cranes and eagles. Our pond bird watcher friends spotted Common Mergansers, Ring Necked Ducks, Canada Geese…and a Loon. The bull frogs orchestrate the evening and can be heard at times throughout the day. Katydid Ranch is a wildlife sanctuary. The flora and fauna of the forest is abundant and diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and numerous varieties of mushrooms. If you are visiting during blackberry season, feel free to pick, pick, pick and indulge. Katydid trees include old growth Douglas Fir, Ponderosa, Sugar, and Jeffrey Pine, various Cedar tree varieties, Incense Cedar, the majestic Pacific Madrone, Alder, Big Leaf Maple, Black and White Oak, Dog wood, and Vine Maple. You may also spot the prolific wild hazelnuts. As Forest Stewards, we are committed to maintaining a well balanced and diverse forest ecosystem.

I love this place. I’ll stay here any chance I get. It’s lovely. Spacious camp sites. Hot tea and coffee area. The river. The outdoor showers. And the A frames are so cool! But I recommend arriving in the daylight if it’s your first time. I came after dark and I’m pretty sure I would have been lost if I didn’t already know my way around. It’s not well lit at night. Makes for good sleep— but def bring a head lamp.

We had a fantastic time! We went in October and the weather was cold and rainy. However, everything was so comfy and cozy. The blankets they provide for the A-frame cabins were more than enough to keep us warm all night. The amenities are great: full on kitchen with all you need to make meals, the tea house was well stocked, the bathrooms did not smell and were fairly clean, the showers had hot water, the sauna was amazing. We really want to come back during the summer and enjoy the river and sleeping with the A-frame open. A wonderful and stellar experience.

The space was gorgeous arriving after dark, (though make sure you bring enough lighting, the stairs can be a trip hazzard if youre not careful) and absolutely beautiful to explore in the morning. My pup loved the close creek access, the beautiful bridge, and the fun little nature trail. The facilities were clean and though I didnt have time to use the shower it was nice to have available! Private, safe, beautiful, and exactly the stop we needed on our drive north this year! We will be back! Thanks Marcus for being so responsive and helpful answering questions, the descriptions were thorough and helpful! My last piece of advice is just check for gravel in your tires as you leave, I had a little trouble with some extra sharp ones getting stuck on my way out.

Joy’s residence was such a pleasure to stay at! We booked both Pine Camp sites and stayed with friends. The 3rd site (Dave’s Camp) wasn’t booked but even if it was, the sites are fairly separated and the Pine Camp sites would have still felt completely private. There is a nice little trail behind the camp sites that the dogs enjoyed, and plenty of shade for hanging out and relaxing! Joy was so friendly, communicative, and was flexible with us when we requested leaving slightly later than normal checkout time (since no one coming in after us). The sites were well set up, clean, and had a cute, cozy vibes to them! As others have stated, the sewer hookup is on the front side of the site and the electric and water is on the back. We chose to wait to hook up sewer and just dumped the tanks right before leaving. The water spigot is set back aways from the site, we had extra hoses so it was no trouble but you will need some hose length (50’) to reach! A wonderful experience and our next trip to the Crater Lake area we will no doubt request to stay with Joy again!

Camping on Daniel’s land was simple and peaceful! He gave great, easy to follow directions to get to the site and it was just as described! The site was well maintained, had a picnic table, and was in a very peaceful, quiet location! Definitely recommend for those not needing anything special and a quick spot to camp at within close proximity to Crater Lake National Park! Daniel was also very responsive and available for questions :)

Walk along this path and hear the eeps of the frogs jumping with each step.. The perfect spot to view wildlife in Woodlands and Turtle Pond.

We booked the RV site at Turtle Pond. Had no trouble finding it with the detailed instructions. We were however surprised at how close all the sites were to one another and that the porta potty was shared. While we hoped for more seclusion we still enjoyed the space and appreciated that the gravel parking pad was level resulting in a good night's sleep.
