Weekend Trip to Santiam Serenity

Third time visiting in the last year. I always enjoy this place even in the rain. I brought my lab and we enjoyed the river and the quiet. I will certainly be visiting again.

1 night at Santiam Serenity

Had a lovely and magic time with my son and pup Mishka! Heard owls hooing to one another at night, birds singing during the day, and water rushing all from our little cabin. We cooked a lot with everything provided (besides food), read from Short Stories of the World, played board games, and made art. Mishka got to run around free in the field and in the water. He looked so happy and cozy by the fire my son made. It was an amazing visit for connecting to one another and with nature. Thank you so much! We will be back some day 🌻

Weekend Trip to Shelter at Castle Rock Farm

My family loved our weekend getaway here! Richard provides you with just about everything you need. The property is beautiful, our 2yr old loved looking for rocks by the creek. It’s a perfect spot for stargazing as well. We enjoyed seeing all the wildlife, especially the turkeys and hummingbirds! Lots of good hiking nearby too. :)

The campsite was well-equiped with all the amenities for an Oregon campout; covered picnic area, plenty of firewood, well designed and built outhouse, hammock, beautiful, scenic landscape, quiet and private surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Close to hiking trails, rivers, and hot springs. We will be back!

We really enjoyed our stay! We didn’t use the cabin because we had our trailer but it looked very nice. We loved having a large field available to run our dogs. The portion of river that is part of the site had one section with a deep enough pool the dogs could swim in. Private, pretty scenery and very peaceful. We will definitely return! Excellent communication with the host via the app.

This is a really wonderful spot. Easy access off I 5. Peaceful and private with a beautiful little creek next to the campsite. Offers sunny areas and shade. The bathroom/shower is great. The host is fantastic, super friendly and helpful. If you're lucky, you'll get to meet Ellie, the sweetest dog girl in the world.

It's a peaceful little sanctuary. Lovely hosts who greet you upon arrival and orient you to the land and trails. It's a fully equipped cabin so all you need to bring is food.

Pam and HV were wonderful hosts. Pam gave us a tour around the place. She has a very cute garden. It was so nice seeing the farm animals. Absolutely beautiful little piece of land. We stayed in Campsite 1. It was so perfect. The fire pit is really warm. Nice flat spot to put your tent by the creek. There is even a little swing by the creek you can swing on. Restrooms were very clean! The field where the restrooms are is so nice at night you can see the stars. We were lucky enough to see a meteor shower! This place is so wonderful I will definitely be going back and I recommend it to everyone!! Thank you Pam and HV you were very generous!! We appreciate you!!

1 night at McKenzie River Forest Retreat

This is an absolutely Gorgeous camping spot. When we arrived Angie came out to say hello and explained where everything was. I let her know we have a dog and we have a long line to keep him on and she was totally accepting of that. She even let us know that her neighbor has dogs so if he’s reactive just be aware. Which was an HUGE help because he is reactive to other dogs but we had absolutely no issues with the neighbor dogs the whole time. She also has the cleanest bucks I have ever used so that was a huge plus! The atmosphere was amazing. Very homie but outdoorsy. I definitely want to come back in the future but for longer next time! She came and said good morning and we had a great chat. If you’re thinking of staying here absolutely go full send! You won’t regret it.

Another wonderfully relaxing weekend at Yurt by the Creek! Our sensitive doggo loves it here and is so excited to visit the goats and pigs each time we come. We love the quiet, private area to relax, go for a splash in the stream and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Dana is welcoming and great to communicate with, and leaves us to do our thing. The super clean outhouse also deserves a mention!

The cabin is really cute and is on a lovely spot right by the creek. It's a little more equipped than you might expect but still feels like you're unplugging and away from it all. We had some issues pop up on our end that created a hiccup with our travel plans but the host was very accommodating and understanding. We would love to return sometime

such a sweet and beautiful little space! dana and jeremy were very friendly; provided lots of information pre-check-in and made things as smooth as possible. the baby goats are a super adorable plus! so nice relaxing by the fire as the sun sets, listening to the trickle of the creek as you fall asleep. stars are UNREAL, made the little jaunt to the outhouse oooooh sooooo worth it! the bed is also SO comfortable (disclaimer: had been sleeping on a sleeping pad in a sleeping bag for a 1.5 weeks, but was STOKED that their bed was the first one i slept in again). and i learned a lot about garlic! got some inspiration for future garlic farming adventures...?!?!? we will definitely be coming back! thank you so much for hosting us :)

Guest access Late arrivals are easy to facilitate. The house is easy to find, even in the dark. The street is well lit and we have path lights to guide you to the roundhouse. Since it's a completely separate building, there's no need to worry about waking anyone. "We'll leave the light on for you," as they say. What will you need? Fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster oven -- all yours. Laundry, full kitchen, yard, neighborhood -- shared. (Just ask.) Dancing Creek Farm

In 1948 a wildfire came thru what then was a mixed forest of spars old growth conifers, evergreen and deciduous broadleaf trees burning intensely enough to render the entire area to primarily grassland. Today it is quickly returning to primarily mixed forest, recovering the ability to hold water at cooler temperatures as it once did. Nestled on the south slope of Dickinson Mountain it offers plenty of sunshine yet some of the best cool freshwater to be found anywhere. Although much of this paradise is considerably steep there are ample cow and goat trails to make exploring extremely enjoyable. Bachelor Creek which runs thru approximately 1/2 mile of the Southeast portion is home to beaver, cutthroat, western pond turtles, great blue heron, and many other wildlife. There is a pair of resident Redtail hawks, wild turkeys, deer, bobcat, coyote, cougar, mink, flying, silver grey, and pine squirrels, owls (sawhete, screach, Pigmy, barred, and great horned), and many others. There are also many swimming holes on Bachelor Creek and a tributary we call Dancing creek, although they are all somewhat small the water is nice and refreshing for a quick dip on a warm day. This is a working farm raising cattle, and chickens. On that note please don't feed any of the animals as they could become a real nuisance. If you are going to be leaving your camp for a hike or swim etc. please secure any food items to avoid a potential disaster. The farm is 170 acres (a half mile by a half mile) and there is a fence all the way around it. Feel free to hike wherever, as long as you don't cross any fences you are still here. You can take a dip in the creek where it comes out of the culvert below the road and there is a picnic table at each site as well as at the dipping hole.

Santiam Serenity

Enjoy the calm, quiet serenity of the South Santiam River. Get back to the basics here and just relax and enjoy nature. We have a small cabin with a bunk bed, and a camping toilet is provided. Bring your tent or camper for extra room. Our campsite is nestled among the trees next to the river. There's lots to enjoy. Do you like hiking? Silver Falls State Park is only 36 miles away. Boating? You can put in your kayak/canoe at Gills Landing in Lebanon and float down the river back to the campsite. Fishing? Bring your fishing pole and try catch and release in our pond. Swimming? Take a swim in the cool water. Of course, you can just relax by the water's edge and enjoy the tranquility provided by the soothing flow of the river. This 192 sq. ft. cabin is very basic. There is no shower, but there is a portable toilet with a wash station located outside. We do provide a full 5-gallon water cooler for drinking since there is no running water. For cooking there is a 24" Blackstone 2-burner griddle, and small propane cans are provided. Also, the cabin is furnished with a small supply of pots and pans. There is a battery that provides lighting, and phone charging is available in the cabin. During the cooler months, there is a small wood stove for heating, and firewood is provided. The cabin sleeps 2, but there is room for a camper and/or tents. This campsite is meant to be very simple, so you should plan on bringing whatever you may need/want for camping.

River View

Glenada was incorporated in 1912 and disincorporated in 1922 after the town's sawmills burned. This side of the river was pretty bustling before the Siuslaw bridge was built in 1936, being quite a transformative event considering the ferry from Glenada to Florence was the main way across the river. River View is located up on Glenada mountain, on the upper level of our three-acre lot. We have a free-range farm atmosphere, with 2 children, 2 large dogs, a cat, and 12 chickens. We allow Hip Campers to bring animals on the property with the understanding that they are good around children and other animals, as our kids and pets are often running around the land. We have firewood bundles and farm-fresh eggs available for additional fees. THERE IS NO TOILET on the property. This is not a tent camping site unless you have your own porta-potty set up. This is a beautiful rustic property close enough to Hwy 101 to be convenient but far enough away to enjoy all the wildlife the Siuslaw River has to offer. Bird watching at its finest! Not to mention the view of Old Town! Learn more about this land: River View is located on the upper level of our three-acre lot. We have a free-range farm atmosphere. We have 2 children, 2 large dogs, a cat, and 12 chickens. We allow Hip Campers to bring animals on the property with the understanding that they are good around children and other animals, as our kids and pets are often running around the land just below the campsite. We offer firewood bundles and farm-fresh chicken eggs for an additional fee. THERE IS NO TOILET on the property. This is not a tent camping site unless you have your own porta-potty set up. This little slice of rugged heaven is just above the Siuslaw River and right off of Hwy 101. There is a steep gravel driveway but once at the top, it is flat and the view is pretty amazing. From camp, you can see Old Town. Gaze down at the Siuslaw River and all the wildlife that comes with it! We regularly see deer, red tail hawks, ospreys, and bald eagles. We have also had a bear that passes through, so beware of leaving food out. There are plenty of places to hike and visit nearby dunes, rivers, lakes, parks, and the ocean. Cook on the swing out grill over a complementary wood fire when allowed. As summer matures, and burn bans no doubt crop up, we provide a propane campfire ring which you may cook on as needed, until it is no longer allowed. This can occur quickly, so we request that mid-June through the first rains, please bring your own approved liquid fuel stove for use in the gravel area on fold out tables. Message before booking to confirm any campfire details or requests. I'm always happy to answer any questions. I live on site but generally the Outdoor Stay Area is self-serve unless I have a special request to cater. Tent sites are covered with wood chips for a comfortable night's rest. Hose water is readily available for your convenience, and we provide a porta-potty as well. During your stay explore the wealth of outdoor activities in the McKenzie River Valley, from hiking and fishing to relaxing by the river (1/2 mile walk), biking, golf, a soak in one of three hot springs in our area or visit historical sites. View waterfalls or book a white water adventure with a local guide! The area's wildlife, including deer, elk, grey fox and various bird species, provide a daily delight. If you like birds, you will adore the Swainson’s Thrush birdsong that paints the air in the mornings and evenings here. You can swim in the creek right next to the site or walk over to the North Fork of the Alsea River where there is 1/2 mile of river access and great winter steelhead fishing too. Close to the farm is world class mountain biking, hiking, fishing, waterfalls, great views, and surfing on the Oregon coast. The camp spot is a very private grassy nook nestled next to Honey Grove Creek. There are nature trails on the property with blackberry bushes. Applegate Century Farm

Learn more about this land: One mile from I-5, you may pitch your tent or park your van near some fir trees at the edge of a small meadow bordering Elk Creek. Feel the restful flow of water bringing tranquility. Follow hiking trails along the creek, through groves of trees, or play in the singing creek. There is another hiking trail to another portion of the creek to the right of the road that passes by the barn. A sign on an oak tree indicates the edge of the large mowed meadow that will take you to another sign for the trail to the creek. When entering the property at the county road, you’ll see a big Century Farm sign on the left at the driveway entrance. Continue past a brown machine shed followed by two apple trees on your left. Just beyond the apple trees is a sign on a big fir tree that points to where the campsite parking is located. Shaped like an arrow it points to the mowed path to the creek and campsite which you may drive down to arrive at the campsite. Uphill from the campsite is a trail going through a small copse of trees that leads up to the red barn. On the left at the entrance to the barn is a bathroom complete with sink and shower. Towels are not provided. Beneath the apple trees is a faucet with drink safety hose and a bucket for your use.
