We have a small area in our Alpaca pasture designated for campers. We are a short drive (2miles) to down town Hermiston. Our ranch has been here since the 1940's and has decreased in size since its days as a potato farm. The Alpacas are shy but curious. They are not dangerous but do not like dogs 🐕🦺 and other small animals. (Please keep pets on a leash) We remove the Alpacas and mow the camping areas but please keep in mind that this is a pasture that is used when campers are not present. Please be prepared. This is a working ranch and there will be animals🦙 , bugs🐜 , and poop💩 in the pasture.
River Front Park on the Umatilla River is within walking distance and the Columbia River is a short drive. In the summer we have several farms in the area with fresh produce for sale and Blueberry picking just down the road. This campsite is a pull thru road that has a sun and wind block overlooking local farm fields. Please note that SELF-CONTAINED vehicles are required for this site, as this is a dry camp with no water access or restrooms. Camp is two miles from freeway exit yet a mile from any home other than the working homestead that was started in 1890 with huge barn built in 1906 next door. (Please do not bother the renters who live there.) This is a great place to rest for the night or a week. - simple, safe, and private out of the way. From I-84 you will take exit 198 for Lorenzen/McClintock Rd. Turn onto Lorenzen, which is a gravel road. Drive one mile until you get to an intersection next to a grain bin. Turn left onto Peebler (west) and drive for almost one mile. As you near the two openings for the site, you will see the sun shelter directly on your left. You want to turn at the 2nd opening, by the sign that says IN (with green Peebler Lane sign above it.) You can pull up right next to the shelter and set up your space however you like. That way, when you leave you will pass by the EXIT sign and be headed back towards the interstate like you came.
This site is 12 miles west from the world-famous Pendleton Round-Up. 8 miles east of Echo Ridge Winery, Sno Road Winery, Echo historical museum, and Echo Golf Course. Simple dining can be found in Echo at H and P cafe and in nearby Stanfield at Broken Barrel Restaurant/Bar with great burgers.

We really enjoyed our stay at Michael’s site. Everything was level and spotlessly clean, with power and water provided and a beautifully maintained yard and setting. Michael met us when we arrived and was incredibly helpful getting us situated, then gave us complete privacy to enjoy the weekend. There’s also a convenient RV dump nearby. A wonderful site with a great host—we’d happily stay here again!

This was a last-minute camp, as we got a late start from Bend, OR. Kara answered us promptly and we rolled in right at sunset. It was a little confusing, as we had to drive over a beautiful lawn to get to the road with the campsite, which had "Deer Creek" signage rather than the hipcamp name. Enough room to back 2 cars into a level spot on a babbling creek. Absolutely beautiful and private spot in Kennewick. No toilet (but we had our own port-a-potty), and a power cord available on a nearby shed. Kara was quick to respond, although we never saw her.

Great place to spend the night! Michael is a great host, very friendly and accommodating. He guided us into the spot and helped us get set up. Our dogs really enjoyed access to the huge and very well maintained back yard for playing ball. We had access to 30 amp power and water. I would highly recommend this camp and we’ll definitely stay again if we end up traveling this way again.

The owners were great hosts who took the time to introduce us to their animals and share about their work. We had a lot of laughs.

Directions are a bit confusing though- it would have been helpful to know that we turn left right before the first Deer Creek sign (there isn’t really a road - just drive diagonally across the beautiful front lawn towards the next Deer Creek sign. Then, down the hill towards the creek and final sign. We parked perpendicular to the creek.
