The Flying J Farm is 250 beautiful rolling acres including 100 acres of forest, 6-acre lake small pond, three streams, and numerous fields for crops and pastures with cows. The owner bought the farm in 1998 for his retirement from a faculty position at the Ohio State university. Two buildings, the farm house and old barn, are original dating back to 1831. These have been restored for current use. The mission of the farm is to restore health both in people though the products produced and in the land by farming in a sustainable way with no conventional chemicals, antibiotics, and use of GMO. We host many visitors including tours and events. An on farm market is available to visitors for purchase of our products including grass-fed beef, maple syrup, and fruits and vegetables. The cabin was built using wood from the farm. It has off-grid electricity meaning it is powered by batteries charged by solar panels. There is not sufficient power for devices with a heating element such as coffee makers and hair dryers. You may charge cell phones. For any other use, please check with the owner. Wild Life. There is an abundance of wildlife to be observed on the farm. Deer can be seen at dusk, raccoons can be seen going through your camp food at night (if you put it in your car), turkeys, hawks, vultures, rabbits, coyotes (heard screaming at night), frogs (especially heard at night), fish (jumping), and many song birds (my favorite, the bobolink, May and June only, nesting in the pastures). Trash. This sustainable farm has no garbage hauling, please carry away your trash.

This is a primitive site with no amenities, just a lovely meadow. We make an effort to keep it mowed but there are times in the year the grass gets out of hand, please be aware. Ticks and chiggers can be present depending on the season, so be advised. The campsite is in an open meadow on our 5 acre property, next to the ruins of what was one of the oldest barns in the county (there are still some beautiful stone walls left). You will be surrounded by trees and the spot is completely private. Directly across the road from our property (a 5 minute walk) is the Little Miami Scenic Trail, the third longest paved trail in the US (amazing for biking). The unique village of Yellow Springs is only a 5 minute drive away with a great local grocery store and several cafes. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE BOOKING. Notes: 1) (no RVs or trailers) cars need to park at the entrance of the meadow where there is gravel. Campers got stuck in the meadow due to rain/mud (which is why we do not allow RVs or trailers). 2) If you need to go number 2 please dig a cat hole at least 6" deep. There is an open public toilet in Yellow Springs and several businesses with open bathrooms. 3) The campsite is right off of Route 68. You cannot see cars from the site but you can hear them. The amount of noise from cars is lower at night. 4) The meadow is ideal for tent camping, though it is NOT a built campsite so it is on a somewhat steep slant at spots.

Oppossum Hollow road is a one lane unlined rd and is not the best for RVs. Taking Buena Vista Rd will only add about a mile and a few minutes to your trip. Be advised Buena Vista is a very curvey road but is traveled by large vehicles all the time. Just take it slow and you will be fine. We have a dully truck and 45 ft rig that we bring in and out just fine. If you are coming in from the South (Chillicothe area.) From State Rte 180, please take Jack Run Rd. This is also a paved two lane road. All other roads in the area are single lane rds and are not the best for RVs (don't use Middlefork, Long Run, Stump Run, or Clapper Hollow off of State Rte 180). Weekend Trip to The Lake at the Flying J Farm

I've stayed at Flying J now 5+ times, and have stayed at sites 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6. The only one I wouldn't choose again is 3, as it's the site right in the open by the boat dock (as Richard clearly describes in the site profile). Site 1, 5, and 6 are all great sites in the woods. 1 and 5 have nice lake views, and 6 is up on a little bluff with farther views of the lake through the trees. Site 4 is the one you cannot drive to as it's across a small earthen dam. It's got more of an open view of the lake than sites 1, 5, and 6. Again, all the sites are great and Richard is an awesome host!

Christy was so sweet. We enjoyed meeting her and her pup Duke! The land is immaculate and we enjoyed the marked trail through the woods and her little halloween path. She has really thought of everything. The firepit was great! I also recommend her pear chutney!!! It is also nice that we could book for one night. Thank you for your hospitality Christy! Beautiful little spot tucked away in the woods. Richard made his rounds and checked in on us every night. Only downside to the site was the shower situation. Wasn’t the cleanest and the hot water didn’t seem to work. But as a camp site it was the perfect place just outside of town.

The property was nicely cared for and private. The host was friendly and greeted us on arrival, showed us around the site, and made sure we had everything we needed. The "bathroom" is a Home Depot bucket with a toilet lid, which was a new experience for us. However, it was cleaner and just as nice (if not nicer) than most porta pottys. Just bring a umbrella if it rains :) There is a bit of traffic noise off in the distance, but this didn't bother us.

It's a beautiful space and Marcy was very friendly. There's a large field for stargazing as well as forest sites. there was a very nice clean fire pit with a grill, and firewood and kindling were provided. There is a clean bathroom with a flush toilet and cold running water, and some thoughtful homey amenities. I came in at night and Marcy put on some lights for me, and then turned them off once I had a fire going. All in all a lovely experience.

This site was just what we were looking for! We stayed in a rooftop tent on our truck and were able to drive right to the site and found a great level spot to park. Our dog was happy to be able to run around. The campsite was clean and firewood was there waiting for us. Our hosts were responsive when we had questions. We would definitely come back if we’re in the area again.

What an amazing spot & amazing time. Robert & Maria do such an awesome time taking care of the spot, it really is an oasis in Bellefontaine, even the bathroom situation is spotless. I 100% recommend! I went solo this time, but I'll definitely be back with my kids!
