Heritage Farms, located in the heart of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, is a 5th-generation, family-owned Christmas tree farm founded in 1848.
Camping began ten years ago. We offer six shelters and nine primitive tent sites. We are incredibly close to the various trails located across the Cuyahoga Valley.
THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK!
1.WE DO NOT ALLOW FIREWOOD to be brought onto Heritage Farms property due to the potential risk to our crops and according to State and Federal Regulations. Firewood bundles may be purchased when making your reservations or upon arrival at the farm.
2. No vehicles may be driven into the camping area at any time.
3. All vehicles must remain in the designated parking lots
4. Campers are responsible for carrying their gear to their campsites—we provide wheeled carts for your use.
5. Ohio Primitive Camping licensing does not allow wheeled camping on Heritage Farms property.
6. Due to Summit County Health regulations, we cannot provide water. Please bring your own drinking and washing water. Or you may purchase 1-gallon jugs of water when you reserve your site or upon arrival. Our restrooms are porta Johns.
7. Tent sites (labeled A-J) have space for up to 3 tents. Shelter sites (numbered 1-6) have room for up to 2 additional tents. All sites are limited to a maximum of 6 campers
8. Heritage Farms is a working Farm. Please be aware that tractors and other machinery are in use during daylight hours
9. Check-in time is from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. If you’re arriving after 7:00 p.m., please let us know. Checkout time is 10:00 a.m. Please use the dumpster for all trash. Gray water stations are available for the disposal of used water.
10. Only campers registered to HipCamp are permitted to overnight on Heritage Farms property. We do not allow parties and underage or excessive use of alcohol at any time.
11. DOG POLICY: We welcome dogs who have received prior permission from the farm owners. A dog registration form including proof of rabies vaccination must be filled out upon arrival. Unvaccinated dogs are not permitted on the property. All dogs MUST always be on a leash and in the physical control of their owner(s). No pets may be left unattended at any time.

Come stay at our little sustainable farmstead amid the beautiful rolling hills of southern Ohio!
Our peaceful 20 acres has a good mix of woods, wild meadows and maintained cleared areas as well as a small pond, all of which can be explored via our nature trail. Enjoy the sounds of nature and an incredible night sky.
FIREWOOD and seasonal farm goods are available for purchase at a self-serve stand (several payment options available). There is also a wonderful sauna on the property that can be reserved (go to sauna to reserve a time).
Great hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, fishing, swimming, and disc-golfing opportunities just a few miles away at Paint Creek State Park and the Highland Nature Sanctuary. Amish country is also just 15 minutes away with a great bakery, markets and greenhouses. This area is home to an impressive network of ancient earthworks including the world famous Serpent Mound.
Our accommodations range from primitive tent-camping to "glamping" in one of our tiny off-grid cabins. The sites are spaced out for privacy and each site offers a private picnic table and fire pit. There are two shared privies/outhouses which have basic composting toilets (not flushing). A grassy parking area is provided near the road, however, ALL SITES ARE WALK-IN (with the exception of site #1).
***Please take note that this is private property and the host lives on site. If you are looking for a place to be loud and party into the night, this is not the place for you. If you are looking to spend some quality time in nature, welcome. There are rules.
*** The gazebo kitchen is NOT COMMUNAL as it is connected to the Fern Cabin (Fern cabin guests have exclusive access to the kitchen). The kitchen IS included for those who book "The Whole Darn Place".

Larger parties can rent both the camper or cabins & bring some tents additional people. Or bring a friend and rent one site in conjunction with some of our other sites. you can even split up your camping trip with a night in our backcountry camp site. Located in the rolling Appalachian hills of Southeast Ohio. This farm has been in our family since 1869 when our relatives settled here from Germany. Originally farmed for cattle and sheep with many orchards over the years our property is now mostly mature forest. Southeast Ohio, including our property is known for its hilly topography and microclimates. Hills range from 400 to 1,100 feet.
Nearly 500 acres of land with an additional 200+ acres of Wayne National Forest adjacent to our farm and close proximity to other Wayne areas for outdoor activities. We have nearly 10 miles of available trails for hiking. Many activities can be done at or centered around our property. Such as excellent and challenging road biking, mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, kayaking and boating. We are two miles from the Little Muskingum River. A great river for kayak trips. The Wayne Kinderhook horse and hiking trail is roughly 5 miles from our location. Hike the Irish Run Natural Land bridge trail also a short drive to the trailhead from our property. Ride your motorcycle up Rt. 26 a great Ohio byway for scenic driving. This is also a great home base for dual sport or adventure bike motorcycle riders to camp while adventuring along gravel roads through Appalachia. If motorcycles aren't your method of entertainment and travel. Bring your horse and ride on several of our trails.
From steep ascents to long flat ridge lines, you will have lots of time to immerse yourself with nature while hiking. We're next to a section of the Wayne National Forest and a short drive to other similar Wayne activity sites. If you like to camp, but don't want the busy public park experience then you will enjoy the privacy of our camping location.
We are also only about a 20-minute drive to downtown Marietta. Where you can find restaurants, bars, and many other fun activities.

We had a great stay on the farm during an overnight trip to visit Cuyahoga National Park. The peaceful location was within minutes to the visitor center & local trailheads. Our kids loved the little lending shed which had books and games for borrowing. Portapotties were the cleanest we have ever experienced. The a-frame was a convenient option to store stuff in case of bad weather. We’d enjoy coming back on future trips.
Beware that specifically at campsite 6 there is no level ground, especially for a larger tent. It would have been difficult to find level space for a small tent as well. We appreciate the need to use the firewood on site but unfortunately the box we received was very wet wood which made lighting & maintaining a fire difficult- plan accordingly.

Weekend Trip to Fruitdale Farm
Fruitdale Farms is a wonderful, charming little plot of land in some truly beautiful country. I had no idea that just a short distance from Cincinnati was so scenic. The Cedar Sanctuary was really nice, and a perfect weekend getaway. Firewood and the selection of reasonably priced homemade goods were also a great addition.

We all survived our first solo mission!
I picked the hottest couple days this month to bring us camping. No sun burns. No ticks… no broken bones, avoided getting poison ivy this year🙌🏻
I recommend Fruitdale Farm in bainbridge for a really wonderful easy getaway.
The highlight of the trip was escaping the heat with our feet in the water getting our toes nibbled at the dock. The boys wanted a dip before we headed out… their favorite spot. we headed to the pond this morning with handmade soap from the farm. Going back this fall when it’s not the hottest day of the year. Thank you for creating this wonderful oasis. We’ve been singing your praises.
Also a bird visited me in the privy. That was a private moment I enjoyed without my kids☀️

Beautiful view and a lot of thoughtful touches like a little guidebook of local areas and including kindling with the firewood bundle.
The site feels private, but because the area is fairly open, sound carries. This wasn’t an issue except for one of the other sites had a group loud of people who stayed up until 2 am (repeatedly waking us). So you may want to bring earplugs in case you get unlucky with the other campers.

I would give this place 5 stars for primitive camping or dry camping. Thoughtful amenities, clean and organized. We had the best night for our short mini-stay. Affordable, centrally located in Peninsula, Ohio within Cuyahoga Natl Park. 100% recommended. Beautiful farm and landscape!

This little a-frame was wonderful!! I was on my way home from NYC so I needed a quiet woodsy recovery space and this was perfect. Nestled in the hilly woods but not too far to walk to, and a screened window to open to hear all the woods sounds. I fell asleep to the sound of rain too early to hear the owl, but apparently there was one! I also love the history of this place - the a-frame was built in the same spot as an old cabin that eventually fell apart. J's grandfather was born in that cabin way back when.

Weekend Trip to Camping at Heritage Farms
Really cool that this place is a Christmas tree farm! Lot of space between sites which was nice, good privacy and not too much noise. Campsite 1 gets lots of direct sun so might be rough in July but was perfect for June. Some critters visited us at night at our A-frame which is to be expected. Very close to Blossom and we were in and out of parking and back to our site in no time. Hope to stay here again soon!

Heritage farms is an incredibly unique campground! It’s quiet, very pretty and Carol and George set everything up perfectly. The shelter was very clean and new construction and if you buy firewood, they include everything you need with logs, tinder and kindling. There’s fireflies in the spring too! The farm is only minutes away from hiking trails and the Cuyahoga visitor center as well. If you’re visiting Cuyahoga National Park, I absolutely recommend Heritage Farms!!

The A frame was a nice area to store things out of the elements and I’m sure it’d make a nice place to sleep. We had plenty of room for our tents. The site gets full sun most of the day, but does have some nice morning shade so you can sleep in a bit during the summer. The provided carts are helpful for toting the gear back to the site as you cannot drive in. Would definitely stay again!

Great Lakes Plains
Sandy beaches and island getaways dot the 312-mile shore of Lake Erie, stretching from Toledo through Cleveland to Conneaut. East Harbor State Park is a highlight of the Lake Erie Birding Trail, and birders flock to nearby Maumee Bay State Park during the spring warbler migration. The most scenic spots for summer camping are on the islands, and regular ferries set out for the Bass Islands and Kelleys Island state parks.
Till Plains
Cornfields and farmlands blanket Ohio’s central region, but there are also more than a dozen state parks within a short drive of Columbus. The limestone gorges of John Bryan State Park harbor some of the region’s best hiking trails, while to the north, the Mohican River is one of Ohio’s top spots for canoeing. For beaches, boating, and lakeside campgrounds, Indian Lake State Park and Alum Creek State Park are both popular choices.
Appalachian Plateau
East of the Till Plains, the patchwork farmlands of Amish Country lead the way to the state’s only national park, Cuyahoga Valley. Bluegrass Region
Rambling woodlands and steep cliffs line the banks of the Ohio River in the state’s southernmost region. Just outside Cincinnati, East Fork State Park has one of the largest state campgrounds in Ohio, while the rugged landscapes of the Shawnee State Park are just a 2-hour drive from the city. For hikers, the ultimate challenge is the North Country National Scenic Trail, which cuts through southern Ohio.
