Weekend Trip to The Heart Center

My wife and I stayed in the yurt to get away from the noise and celebrate my birthday and the Heart Center truly delivered. The land and energy this place holds is incredible. Liz was a fantastic host and both my wife and I were able to have a reiki session with her while staying here. To stay it was transformational for both of us would be an understatement. Both of us learned so much from our sessions and left the Heart Center feeling lighter both physically & emotionally. We will definitely visit again in the future and Liz - thank you for what you do and putting together such an amazing place of healing and warmth admist the natural beauty of the area. If you are looking for peace, quiet and complete solitude with the comforts of home then I highly recommend Kathryn’s yurt. It was perfect for my teenage son and me to enjoy our trip to Asheville and the surrounding area for hiking and zip lining. To find the yurt, you will drive up a steep gravel driveway and about a quarter of a mile to a pull-off space to park the car. The yurt is just a few steps down a well-lit pathway. Inside the yurt is a kitchenette with a drip coffee maker, microwave, toaster, mini fridge and tiny dishwasher. There were plenty of plates, cups and utensils to share. We brought a folding table and camping stove to set up outside for cooking, which was perfect. There’s also a fire ring with chairs in the back of the yurt. There are a few grocery stores a short drive away. The beds were comfortable enough and the split heating/ac unit kept it nice and cozy. This yurt is exactly what I was looking for. We did not see or hear anyone else the whole time we were there. The views are just stunning and you can hear the rushing river from below. I will definitely stay again the next time I’m in the area.

Weekend Trip to Destination Outdoors! DO IT!

We enjoyed our stay in the yurt on Matt’s land. We walked down to the river and up to a view at 3000+ ft-all on the property. Beautiful! ! The bathroom is clean. The yurt was comfortable. There was plenty of room for tents on the site. Matt was responsive, kind and helpful. Will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Frostwood

Frostwood is an incredibly well detailed glamping experience. All the small details from the sink with water pumped in to the kitchen details and camp chairs for the fire pit make a stay here feel like a relaxing vacation. Hiking trails are less than a mile away. Appreciated the quick responses from Kris with questions.

Weekend Trip to Forestside Yurt Near Marshall

My friend, daughter, and I stayed in Kathryn's yurt a few weekends ago. It was everything we'd hoped for and more! The location was perfect. The yurt is nestled on top of a private hill that overlooks the mountains. The view was breathtaking. It was secluded, but Kathryn said she lived right up the hill. This provided a sense of comfort, especially since I had a young child with me. Kathryn was at the property upon our arrival to show us around, let us know how everything worked, and she made sure we were all set for our weekend. She said we could reach out if we needed anything at all! The yurt was BEAUTIFUL inside and had everything to make our stay in nature a tad more comfortable. AC, compost toilet, sink with running water, mini fridge, power outlets, and other creature comforts we've been spoiled with. I have to say, the trundle bunk bed was a genius space-saver! We attempted to make dinner on the fire pit, but Mother Nature had other plans and threw a couple of storms our way. It did get loud inside the yurt with the heavy rainfall, but I was glad to be in a firm structure rather than a tent! The gravel was a tad tricky on the drive up to the yurt the first day, but upon calling Kathryn, she instructed us how to get around it and assured us that it was getting fixed asap. I would definitely stay here again. Heck, I would live there if I could! Kathryn was a phenomenal host. I would highly recommend this space to anyone looking for a getaway!

2 nights at Maggie Valley Yurts and Cabins

I enjoyed staying in this Yurt! It was clean and felt luxurious. The people who lived in the area were quiet. At night I loved hearing the rushing water and frogs from my porch area. I felt safe here and there is a lock on the front door of the Yurt. If you need internet for work or school this may be a issue. I was unable to connect and my phone service with AT&T was spotty. I enjoyed my stay and would do it again.

Everything in the description of this sacred space still didn't prepare me for the true beauty that's on this property. We were there during, suspected tornado activity, and the yurt kept us safe. I was amazed at how sturdy and resilient the yurt was. Liz is so kind, caring and considerate of her guests. I could not recommend this amazing place enough. I can't wait to go back.

This is a beautiful and serene camping spot. We stayed in one of the yurts, but the camping would have been fun too. The forest was full of spring flowers, and there is a beautiful short hike to a creek on the property. We have kids, and playing in the old school gymnasium was a big hit! We did do some nearby hiking, but our kids just wanted to go back to the Heart Center to play :). I also appreciated access to the dining room area. Being able to use a microwave while camping makes it so much easier! And we appreciated the coffee and tea Liz had ready every morning. What a treat! Liz was a wonderful host, and one of the best parts of our stay was getting to spend time with her. She is a kind and generous person!

We loved staying at Roamstead. We stayed in a yurt which was fantastic. It was warm and cozy (low in the 20's at night), and perfectly decorated. The bed had an amazingly comfortable mattress. Ample outlets for charging phones, coffee pot, etc. There were easy well lit paths to bathhouse and lodge. The staff was amazing! They're fabulous baristas as well. We truly felt at home away from home. We certainly hope our travels lead us back in the future. We have absolutely no complaints.

Weekend Trip to Roamstead

The area where the yurts are is at the very back of the property, so it’s secluded and beside a stream. You can sleep with the sounds of a babbling brook & it’s heavenly! The property is well maintained, except for the lawn behind the main lodge…that one, you cant step in an area of the lawn without stepping on to animal scat (idk if it’s dog or other animals, but it’s the only area where every inch is covered with it, everywhere else? Clean.). The bathhouses & toilets are very vlean with very warm/hot showers & the hair dryers actually work & are full sized ones. Guests were all respectful of the quiet times & the staff were friendly & helpful. Overall, I highly recommend it & it definitely is kid friendly, with a well maintained playground my kid loved! Gburg & PF are 30-45 min away, so if you get tired of the peace & quiet, you can easily drive there for more touristy stuff. We’ll be back for sure!
