Privacy: The main house is about 30 yards up the hill. We're close if you need us, but we give every guest plenty of privacy. The front deck holds your screened-in private hot tub. The back deck is reserved for quiet reflection — meditation, yoga, birdwatching — and we ask that it stay silent.
On-site extras: A massage therapist is often available on-site — just ask about pricing and availability. We also offer 2–3 hour wood-fired sauna sessions for an additional fee (covers the labor and wood involved) — well worth it, and easy to arrange with advance notice.
Location: You're 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, with easy access to great hiking, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and art galleries. Asheville is 15 minutes away, Weaverville about 10.
A note on noise: This is a quiet retreat, not a party spot. Our nearest neighbors are about 200 yards down the hill, so we ask all guests to keep noise low, especially in the evening, which is also why the back deck is reserved as a silent space.

Our gateway to Pisgah camper van is set on top of a mountain on 10 acres. It is parked on the land in the front of my home, with a separate parking area for privacy. It is the perfect spot, centrally located between Asheville, skiing and tubing resorts, and national forests, each being between 20 and 30 minutes drive. It has a bed that sleeps two, as well as a seating area that the table goes down and converts into a small bed. We're about 10-15 minutes' drive away from downtown Asheville and a $12-$15 Uber ride. Unfortunately, public transportation is not very accessible from the campground.

Our campground is not equipped to handle the magical, whirlwind force that children release unto the world. There's a lot of breakable stuff, tempting treehouses (that might be occupied by other guests!), sites that are within earshot of each other, and hazards that aren't a good fit for kids.
WHAT'S NEARBY?
- There are approximately a bajillion breweries in Asheville, many of which are within 5-15 minutes away.
- Downtown Asheville (~10-15 minutes), West Asheville (~5-10 minutes) and the River Arts District (~5 minutes)
-Hiking! Waterfalls, mountain-top views, fog-drenched valleys, rambling rivers... There are some trails about 20 minutes away, but to get to the good stuff, you'll drive 40-90+ minutes.

Welcome to my peaceful homestead in the valley of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This rustic studio space I affectionately call Chicken Church, has been a labor of love, using all the materials I have collected from my many construction projects over the years... and many states. My friends all know who to pass the junk along to. The space is heated with a wood stove and has an antique 1922 wood cook stove--do you know how to cook on one? The kitchen is set up with a sink, water kettle and cooking amenities, including an electric stove.
Bathroom amenities: cold water sink and toilet. No shower inside, but there is an outdoor shower, propane heated. (NOTE: Heater gets removed at first 32° and won't be available in November.)
The main house on the property is within 200 feet, where I share the space with Airbnb guests. There is a close neighbor family to the left, about 250 feet away. Because my property is in a residential neighborhood, respect for neighbors and other guests is greatly appreciated.
Outside, you’ll feel an instant sense of peace and tranquility surrounded by horses, happy, free ranging chickens, abundant woods, gardens, ponds with some new baby geese chicks soon, open lawns and a fire pit for your restful getaway. I have a pup who monitors the outdoors... and to keep it uncomplicated, i cannot accept other pets.
Asheville is about a 12 minute drive: Known as the craft beer capital in the US, there is no shortage of breweries. You don't have to go very far to find a plethora of trails in this town, including the mountain to sea trail which is easily accessible from this neighborhood. The farm to table scene is amazing... so much good food! Eat! Eat! Eat!

Raven ridge is a 5.0 acre property with plenty of botanical appeal, Appalachian charm and mountain views. James landed on the property in 2009, built a small dairy barn and milked 3 cows for a couple years before building the two cabins. In 2015 he was joined by Sofi, originally from Sweden and together they have three daughters.
Together they manage a botanically interesting hill farm and are happy to host travelers and seekers in their cabins. Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months. Orchard House was built entirely by James from the cement blocks to the roof. It’s very creative and cozy, besides spacious for a tiny home. People describe it as “dreamy”, also “perfect”.
Some of the Hilltop photos are a bit dated, we have a more private outhouse behind the cabin, and have made a few improvements here and there. Reach out anytime for any reason. We love hosting and nearly everyone enjoys their stay.

The outhouse is a thing of the past, just recently I installed a compositing toilet besides the bedroom.We also offer The Summit which is a high elevation, 2-story cabin surrounded by national forest which has evolved into an off-grid living and play space located at nearly 3300 feet elevation on a 1/2 acre flat with an incredible view. There are very private old forest service trails leading directly into the Pisgah National Forest.

There is a microwave for cooking, a charcoal grill on the deck (charcoal and grill necessities included) and a fire ring for open flame cooking. There is a hammock provided for warmer days!
Please note that when temperatures dip into the teens and the single digits make sure to bring warm clothing as dome can still get a bit chilly on those nights. Also note that there is a hand washing station outside of the dome next to the port a potty however when temperatures dip into the teens and single digits the water can freeze up in the hand washing station. We do also provide hand sanitizer as a back up. The outdoor shower is only open typically from April through October. In addition, the only form of heat is a wood burning stove with starters and wood provided, so it will be your responsibility to make sure that the stove keeps burning with wood as to keep the dome warm. This most likely will entail getting up at least once a night to stoke/put wood on the fire. On very hot summer days the dome can get very warm inside. We have a high powered fan and black out curtains to help but it still can get very warm. Best to utilize the outdoor space in the late morning/early afternoon hours or use this time to explore the area. THERE IS NO AIR CONDITIONING!
Also, there may be some bugs that you see. Especially stink bugs in September and October. We do our best to keep bugs out, yet this is a Glamping experience which is between camping and a typical Airbnb experience so please plan/pack/expect accordingly. Thanks!

If you're looking to escape to the mountains, look no further! Wild Ridge Trail is a place where you can come to unwind, relax, and take in the fresh air of our N.C. mountains! We are located only 10/15 minutes from all of the exciting things Asheville has to offer and just as close to the charming small town of Black Mountain!
The cabin at wild ridge is OFF GRID (meaning no power or running water) but I promise, with our solar panels and rain collection system you won't miss being ON the grid at all! The cabin and the drive (or hike) up was designed for the adventurous at heart! So, drive on up if you have 4WD or AWD and if you don't, no worries! Just park in the designated space, grab your gear and hike on up! (The hike in is steep... about 300 ft but takes less than 5 minutes) We have a cooler up there for any perishables you may have, just bring ice :)
Please note: We have to close the outdoor heated shower during the cold winter months, however we provide an all season 5 gallon solar shower bag to use during this time. We also have a list at the cabin of other places nearby that provide hot showers in the winter months for a small fee.
In the rare event that heavy snow is expected, we will have to close the road leading up to the cabin because of its steepness. If this occurs, you will be given a full refund for the cancellation.
To heat the cabin, there is a un-vented wall mounted heater that heats the space really well! Since the cabin is insulated, the heater works quick to heat the small area up so you will stay nice and cozy!

This was such a tranquil get away. They really thought of everything! (dog treats, cooking oil, twinkle lights, flash lights, paper towels, toilet paper, ect.) The water and the burners in kitchen were so helpful. It was also so nice to have a grill! We were supposed to do sight seeing in Asheville but just decided to come back after our hike because it was so nice. I wish I could stay here for a week!
Be aware hike up to the house is no joke so make sure you have your stuff packed/organized for what you want to take up. I ended up leaving all the non essentials in my car at the lower part of the driveway.

I loved staying here so much! I'm normally a tent camper, so this felt like straight luxury. Everything was so well thought of. It was so considerate of Doug to have water for us there and even a little picnic table to sit and eat at. I enjoyed the views so much I could never bring myself to close the curtains. But I'm sure of you needed to you could use them to block the sun if it gets too warm. There was also an electric fan already there to use which did come in hand even though I did bring a small camp one. My stay was mid August and it was about on the 80s mid day and in the 60s at night. I never felt too hot, but this Texas gal got cold at night. I never found the bugs to be too bad either, but bring big spray if you attract mosquitoes like I do. Overall, my pup and I enjoyed the stay so much and definitely plan on coming back. This place is such a treat.

This is honestly my favorite place to camp. I needed a break from life. It is so quiet and peaceful. The view is amazing. The rain on the tin roof was the perfect setting for a weekend filled with reading and recharging.

Camping with comfort! Beautiful view, excellent platform space - partially covered and with rain curtains provided. Feels luxurious to plug in the coffee maker and have string lights to light the way to the very clean personal port-a-let! Yes, the road to get to them is narrow and bumpy, but it's worth it! Quiet, in nature, fantastic vista, private, but in a well organized and cared for little community.

Weekend Trip to Above the Fray Glamping, Black Mtn.
We had such an amazing time here! The view was so beautiful. The platform is right on the side of the mountain, with stairs leading you a short distance from your car. The platform is covered in case of rain, and Doug even has rain curtains to close in the shelter! There's a folding table and four chairs provided! Each site has its own porta john, and it was super nice and clean! It has electricity, and we brought a big fan that was nice for the summer!

We had a great time staying here! The hosts seem to have thought about everything you might need. The shower is every bit as good as other reviewers have mentioned. We had four children with us so we had planned for two to sleep in a tent to give us more space (and to give them more adventure!), which we did, though there is plenty of room in the cabin for both the queen floor bed and for people to sleep on the sofa.
The cabin is astonishingly well equipped with high quality supplies and with everything you need from skewers and s'mores supplies to hot tub towels!
The hosts were by far the best hosts we've ever had either at a hip camp or at an Airbnb. They were quick to respond to everything from our silly questions to minor issues - they were around in minutes to replace an empty gas canister on the grill or to change the hot tub temperature for us.
One night the cabin lost power following a storm (as did a lot of houses in the area) and they messaged to check we were ok; see if we needed any lanterns etc. By far the best hosts we've ever had. If only more could be like them!
There was some poison ivy in the yard which I know the hosts had been working on previously, so I guess this is an ongoing challenge for the site. Also, since we had a tent on the tent pad, there wasn't another perfectly level space for the outdoor table and benches, but it worked ok on a bit of a slope.
We had a great visit and loved our time here!

We enjoyed our stay at The Summit cabin. Hans is a very gracious and welcoming host. I love the seclusion and privacy that this site offers. It has all of the glamping essentials. We were able to cook a hot meal on the gas cooktop with the provided cookware and utensils. There is a composting toilet, sink and shower as well as hot and cold running water (provided you conserve usage as there is a limited tank supplied by rainwater). The bedroom is upstairs accessed by an outdoor staircase. There is also a futon downstairs. There is a solar power station that has various ports to charge your devices/phone. The rainy weather made staying in July perfectly comfortable without A/C, but there are heaters for cold weather. Be prepared for a climb and bring shoes with traction. Overall a wonderful off grid experience, we plan to come back!

I had a great overnight stay at Above the Fray site 285. I knew it was going to be a raining day/evening so it was so nice to have a partial covered deck and rain curtains. My dog and I were able to get cozy and had a lovely night listening to the rain. Waking up to the beautiful Mountain View was such a treat. We had everything we needed and I look forward to another stay here in the future.
