2 nights at The Rocky Knoll

Stayed two nights in my overlander trailer. Good location for a base camp to day hike Hanging Rock S.P. and Pilot Mountain. Reasonably close to Winston-Salem. Everything in HipCamp description is accurate. Good, flat, pull through area to park rig and nice, flat, large pad for one large tent. Probably tight to make turns for larger RV. All clean and orderly. Nice long-distance views. Good amenities (as described) -- plenty of room, fire pit and wood, two picnic tables, etc. "Poop shed" is just that (a shell of a porta john) but IS NOT a privy or outhouse. Some very minor road noise and farm animals, but not bothersome at all. I will definitely stay again for the purposes of my visit.

Weekend Trip to The Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms

We had the best time camping at Harmon Creek. Cheryl’s entire family was so welcoming, and they sold everything we needed at their little camp store, including freshly baked treats on our last morning. Our site was clean and private and shady. We were initially worried about the heat and bugs, but surprisingly neither were an issue! We hope to return soon!

Weekend Trip to Basecamp_outdoors

I brought my friend for his first glamping experience to Basecamp_outdoors and it couldn’t have been better! There is every amenity here to make you feel at home. A full kitchen, hot shower, clean beautiful spacious tent with no bugs, a comfortable bed, a covered kitchen, an out house, a porch and a covered eating area. Plus lighting and heating and cooling. Everything is an easy unload from where you park your cars. Plus, there is an additional area down the path where there is a fire platform. Because it was hot, we skipped the fire and used it more as an extra patio and outdoor room. We spent a lot of time there immersed in the beauty of the forest and sky and listening to the birds and music. The main site is located nearer to the road and we hung a couple of tapestries in the lower eating area for a little extra privacy. The host was very thorough in giving us directions and sending a video to show us how to turn on and use everything. He also checked on us via text through the app to make sure we had everything we needed. It was easily accessible and there is plenty to do in the area as far as hiking and water features. If you’re considering this place, you should book it, I can’t imagine being able to find one better!

Weekend Trip to The Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms

This was an amazing camp site! The kids absolutely loved playing in the creek and nearby waterfall. The owners were friendly and hospitable. They even had delicious homemade cinnamon rolls one morning! We loved falling asleep to the sound of running water and forest sounds. Once was not enough time to explore the farm, and we'll definitely be back again to take in more of the views.

Weekend Trip to Tranquil Fisher River Cattle Farm

Peaceful flowing river, country view, flat grassy area - great spot for off road camping. Far enough away from the rd for privacy. Trees allowed sun and shade. There were a few small groups enjoying the river across from us each day and the road noise was sporadic. None were annoying. Most of the sounds were the flowing river and birds singing. Best part of the morning is watching the cows make their way to the pasture on the hill!

Weekend Trip to Mystic Meadow Farm Glamping.

My dog and I had the absolute best weekend at the “Love Shack” in Mystic Meadow. Wendy has created a woodland oasis with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The location is easy to find, but feels a thousand miles away from the daily grind. The cabin is perfect, thedeck was outfitted with chairs for relaxing, a swing near the creek, and the woody trails were full of fun treasures. And did I mention the fire pit? We enjoyed visiting the fluffy butts and the goats along the trail, listening to the creek as it bubbled along and watching fireflies from the deck and morning visits with deer. Wendy suggested a couple of places to visit locally, which had great trails and shopping options. We even visited a local drive in on Saturday night. There are lots of options near by for all kinds of entertainment. In fact I’m checking my calendar for another trip in the fall. I highly recommend booking a trip to mystic Meadows, you will not be disappointed. Thanks Wendy for a great weekend and being a terrific host. We really didn’t want to leave! .

Hoping to come back and spend more time here, it is a true gem.

We loved camping on Cheryl’s land. We had site one right in the creek which had plenty of room, privacy, trees and grassland. My kids loved visiting the donkey, sheep, and chickens. They have amazing ice cream and a variety of meats to purchase. Cheryl is very friendly and goes above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable! We would love to camp here again!

This property is a great spot to relax and enjoy the view of Pilot Mountain. John is an excellent host, very welcoming and communicative. When we walked down to the farm area to pick up the eggs we added onto our stay, he showed us around the farm and introduced us to the animals. There’s also a really nice trail to a creek side swing. We were really impressed and hope to get back again!

Lovey 1 Bedroom

The Myers family first came to North Carolina in the early 1700's from York, Pennsylvania, and settled in the Holly Grove area. One son, David ventured West and purchased several hundred acres in the late 1700's from a soldier, John Booth, who received the property as a land grant for 12.5 cents per acre ( Issued October 10th, 1783). David helped to create what is now the Reeds Community, and began what we know and love today as "Crossings". One of David's sons, Benjamin helped his father build a log cabin, and placed it at the end of a long driveway off of Hwy 64 (Old Hwy 64). His log cabin, seen on the right, was the birthplace of many children, including James Addison, who built the Crossings home place that still stands today (circa 1874). James, and his siblings, made their mark by building homes almost identical all over present day Reeds. James also made a name for himself by holding the North Carolina state agriculture record many years running for the largest yield per acre of corn. My great-grandparents, Lessie and Noah Smith, purchased the farm from James Addison's estate in 1928 and raised all of their children on the farm, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lessie and Noah farmed every piece of the property with love, determination, and the help from friends and family. I still hear stories today from family about priming tobacco, picking cotton, and coming back home for corn shuckin's Feeling fortunate to grow up right beside the home place, I spent all of my childhood years roaming across the pastures, playing in the pond, and disappearing for hours riding horses across the fields. Lucky to purchase the home in 2003, I have been exceptionally blessed to be able to raise my children where my family has lived for over 200 years. Following the practices of Joel Salatin, Wendell Berry, Gene Logsten, and most importantly, Thomas Jefferson - Crossings looks to produce healthy food while preserving the land that my family has cherished for so many years. The main floor of the store houses a shared bathroom with a Hot, Hot shower, a wood stove that can be used for wartime or cooking, a Bistro Table, and a vintage porcelain sink. There is also a lovely, deep back porch out the rear door that has 2 comfortable Troutman rocking chairs, a portable fire pit (which can be used a fire or simple grilling). There is unlimited firewood for use while you are staying at our loft. Please note that there is not a door between the main farm store and the loft, but the staircase is curved, which allows for NO visibility to the loft from the main floor. Our farm store is visited around 203 times a day by our loyal and thoughtful customers from the hours of 9am until around 6pm in the afternoon. Our work crew will also come in and re-stock or tidy up each day. Due to this, we ask that you take any showers before 9am or after 6pm each evening, unless arrangements are made prior. Our farm is a beautiful, private 25 acres with an 1830s house, outbuildings, animals, orchards, gardens, pastures, old trees, wildlife habitat, a spring, and woods. Here you can relax; watch nature; meet our chickens, goats, horse, cats, and dog; learn about archaeology, history, plants, and mead making; and get eggs and homegrown seasonal food. Listen to birdsong and watch clouds during the day, wander a path through our ca. 5 acres of woods, see fireflies in the evening, and star watch at night. Nearby are hiking, horseback riding, historical sites, fishing, antiques, wineries, shooting, and more. We are located in a rural area and have many different domesticated and wild animals so you may hear diverse animal noises and see or smell animal poop, although we try to keep things clean and tidy. Our neighbors have dogs, cattle, and chickens/roosters and occasionally shoot guns during daylight hours (one neighbor is a sporting club with skeet shooting and hunting dogs) but typically our farm is a quiet and peaceful place. We mow regularly and our rooster and chicken ladies wander far and wide eating bugs but, in the summer, they can't get every mosquito and tick so please plan accordingly for your own comfort.

Hi! We're Matt and Kayla! We bought a farm and started learning about farming in 2020 after a good friend of ours passed away from cancer and we started talking through what it would look like to try something we've always wanted to try. We knew nothing about it previously so welcome to our adventure! There are a lot of camping spots on our property and you can choose anywhere you'd like. The top of our ridge called "soil road" used to be the main traveling path back in the settler days. The house at the bottom of our driveway used to be the towns post office, and there is a cave back on the creek where soldiers during the civil war camped out in. We are a working farm during the day so if you choose to walk down the ridge you'll find outside working with the animals or in the flower or produce garden. There is a lot of great fishing in the creek so make sure to bring your rod! We love pets so yours are welcome, and there are a lot of hiking trails and cute towns around us. Learn more about this land: A quiet very private experience on a farm with 180 Blue Ridge Mountain views on top of the ridge or walk down our trail to camp and trout fish on Rock Castle Creek. With clear stars, fireflies everywhere, and a cozy fire, what more could you ask for? Our whole 54 acres is yours to explore during the day to swim in the creek, see our farm animals or take a quick drive to the many surrounding lakes, hiking trails and local towns. Any type of camping set up is welcome from truck tent set ups to converted vans to on the ground camping. The top of our hill is flat so it can accommodate any set up except huge RV's!

We built this space as our little stay-cation spot and knew we had to share it. We are passionate about what we do and work hard to continue to build and grow and share this beautiful space for others to enjoy. We have 3 primitive sites and 2 authentic tee-pees. There is a bath house with a heated shower, and a port-a-john that is cleaned regularly. There are 2 picnic areas with charcoal grills. We have a 24x16 enclosed stage that can be used for bands, educational classes, karaoke, yoga... ect. There is also an outdoor movie theater that is available to rent for an evening. There are a few restaurants close by and we are only 6 miles from downtown Mocksville. There are a lot of wineries and breweries within a 30 min drive from our property. We are about 15 minutes from river access to the Yadkin river for anyone looking to Kayak. There are lots of local fishing holes and places to go horseback riding. We are about an hour drive to lots of different hiking trails from pilot mountain, and hanging rock to the blue ridge parkway. We have 2 dogs that live here and will greet you at the gate. Please be respectful of the neighbors and drive slowly down the dirt road to our property to limit dust. We look forward to hosting your camping get away.
