2 nights at Canter Lakes Farm

Sunset cliff fishing site was great! We had a 34’ travel trailer and took some maneuvering to get back in there but after that it was a breeze. Julie had very specific and detailed directions on how to get to the site and utilize the bathhouse. Did a little bit of fishing but no luck, saw a bunch of blue gill tho. For summer camping with kids I would highly suggest sometime of portable power but I would bet it’s beautiful in the fall. Bathhouse is nice could use some insulation and an a/c but it gets the job done.

Weekend Trip to Canter Lakes Farm

We enjoyed our camping - the space was private and large with a tree swing for the kids. I did not have to worry about being the "loud family" since there were no other campsites nearby. Kayaks were available for use and the kids loved meeting and petting the pony. The hosts, Julie and Scott were awesome and readily available.

2 nights at The Secret Sanctuary Farm

James and Sola were very nice and welcoming! We stayed at Lokis lookout and enjoyed the serenity! Feeding the animals was a nice welcome to the property, and a great way to start off a quiet camping weekend. We found it super convenient that there was lots of camping equipment for cooking that was made available!

I went with my two young boys and we all loved it! We got rained on while we were enjoying Wilmington but the property owners helped us tremendously by letting us use some bedding. They were amazing to communicate with and so helpful! The property was beautiful and we wished we had more time to explore it. We will definitely be back!

We had a fantastic time camping on Julie's land a couple weeks ago!! The outdoor space was very accommodating and the facilities were well kept after. Our favorite part was the kayaks which we had a fantastic evening taking out on the river. We will definitely be back, thank you Julie!!

We were living the dream last week at Canter Lakes Farm! The sun shade and bath house were the key amenities and letting the dog off the leash was a great perk. It was kayaking on the pond that put this location over the top! The hosts are so welcoming, too. Highly recommend.

1 night at Worthams Ferry

This was everything and more than we thought it would be. An easy access with drive through site was a perfect for our long skoolie; there is enough parking space for few more buses like our. The campsite felt private and spacious. We kept our Skoolie near the camp fire in upper part of the property near the quiet private road, and went tent camping with my wife and dog for one night near the river. We are boondockers loving the nature and privacy. This location was perfect for our needs. We will come back again for sure.

Our group had a fantastic time at this site! The property is truly gorgeous and felt very private. We loved swimming, paddle boarding, and fishing in the lakes. Julie was very responsive and helpful throughout our stay, even offering to let us stay after our check-out time! We will definitely be back. Maybe it’ll become a yearly tradition!

Me and my sister had an excellent time at Lisa’s place. It was very nice, on the river and had clean porta potties. We kayaked the black river, went to Lake Waccmaw which wasn’t very far. We also went to 3 beaches while visiting, Wilmington, Carolina Beach and Holden Beach. If you want to enjoy the Black River 3 Sisters swamp, Henry’s place is right down the road. This location is in a prime place to explore! I give 10 it of 10 for the campsite, host and all! I will most definitely return! Thanks again Lisa!

We are a private horse farm with beautiful swimming lakes and river access on site via “Sand Hill Creek” At canter lakes farm you can explore over 10 acres of water without ever leaving our property, and hike almost 3 miles of manicured trails here! If you’re an early riser you can witness the magnificent steam rolling in over the lakes, creek and cypress swamp while you sip your coffee at sunrise. Bring your paddle boards and cruise, or warm up with sunny yoga on your private dock. Kayak or John boats can explore the river bends from our property, or even make it out to the big wide cape fear. We are very close to two public boat ramps suitable for larger boats and jet skis. Holly Shelter boat ramp is literally 2 minutes away, Shelter Creek boat ramp is 10 minutes away. Both ramps have a fishing area and allow kayaks/paddle boards. Fishing is good on our ponds and the river year round, (bass, catfish, crappie, bowfin, gar, etc) in June hundreds of wild blueberry plants you can pick and eat. We also have prickly pear cacti for harvesting which you can cook the fruit and paddles over the fire and enjoy. If our trails aren’t enough and you want more adventure, just two miles away is the Holly Shelter game lands entrance where you’ll find thousands of acres for hunting, biking, hiking or horseback riding. And if you’re craving a beach day, Wrightsville beach is just a 30 minute drive away as well as is downtown Wilmington where you can enjoy walking the riverfront for shopping or dining. Stargazing galore! Surrounding the property is privately owned country land- this is a phenomenal place to be amazed by the stars. Photography lovers will be in heaven from the sunrises and sunsets golden hour is magical here! And with the diverse landscape there’s always something to capture. The Secret Sanctuary Farm is a co/op located on a portion of Prince George Creek that has a double Oxbow or hairpin turns in the creek. This unique feature prevented loggers from logging the property. As a result, there are many huge old-growth trees on the property as well as a variety of fauna and flora. A truly unique blend of farmland. Including an assortment of friendly animals to interact with. Woodland, wetlands, and a deep spring fed fresh water creek that connects to the Cape Fear River. This is a working farm. Please do not Open any gates to the animals. The fruits and vegetables on the farm are for the members of the farm. Eggs from our chickens will be provided for you to use for breakfast. If you happen to choose a campsite with a kitchen. There is a coffee pot and all cooking utensils. There are four permanent 4 shelters on the property. Composting toilets. Showers are still in the works. All of the shelters have their own composting toilets. Small propane heaters are available for each shelter. The first 1gallon bottle off propane is free with your stay. it will last 5-7 hrs. each additional bottles will cast $6.00 per bottle. There is also solar, powered lights, usb charging stations, fans, and air coolers. each Conestego hut has a locking front door to keep your belongings safe Campfires, hiking, canoeing and kayaking. Kayaks, canoes and lifejackets are available. All the Wilmington beaches are within 30 minutes.
