Weekend Trip to Carl’s Campsites - Riverside

I have been coming here a couple times a year for three years now. Every time is a great experience. I can’t say enough about the beach, the new play ground, the friendly owners. While I still go to other places, I will make sure we still have this on our list a couple times a year. Oh, and the address is now in Waze as the name of the campsite.

Great little spot for an overnight stop on the way to a wedding. We were visited by a group of calves in the morning which was really neat. Thanks for the wonderful spot!

This was my first time using Hipcamp, and it exceeded all expectations. The views were stunning, the atmosphere was peaceful, and the bonfire pit added the perfect touch to the experience. The campsite itself was phenomenal—well-maintained, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful nature. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene getaway.

2 nights at Babbling Brook Campground

Elizabeth and Mark were wonderful hosts. It was such a treat getting to tour their farm and meet the friendliest donkeys, goats, and dogs. They loved the attention, it was so cute. We were even gifted some fresh laid eggs that we had for breakfast the next morning. The treehouse is fully stocked, with a grill, camp stove, pots, pans, dishes, COFFEE, and everything! Elizabeth is also super attentive, quick to respond on the app, and, I can't help but tell this story... We had to call them on our first night to rescue us from a very intimidating spider! We were nervous to ask for help, thinking they might act like we were wimps for not being able to deal with it on our own, but Mark came down decked out in what looked like a beekeeper suit with poison spray, and Elizabeth had her pellet gun ready for battle! It was hilarious and incredible, and we are forever grateful for their bravery and how seriously they took the situation! We would definitely stay here again. Advice for future campers: Bring good lanterns and headlamps and leave your kitchen items at home!

I appreciated Joy's helpfulness and communication. I fully intended to unplug for the weekend, and was content to choose a spot in the back 40 without cell signal. It was only a few steps to get to signal, but I put the phone into airplane mode and enjoyed complete solitude.

Such a lovely experience! My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Happy Hillside. Elizabeth and Mark were warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Elizabeth was communicative from start to finish. The site was incredibly well-stocked. We loved the thoughtful touches like flowers, games, a creekside hangout area, and a rock painting set. The composting toilet was the best we’ve used, with daily cleanings and no odor. The optional farm experience was also fun! We loved meeting the animals and we got to cook our fresh eggs for breakfast the following day. Some heads-ups: the terrain includes stairs/levels, so consider that if you have knee issues. On two nights, we heard barking from a neighbor’s dog (they raise dogs), but it may not be a permanent situation. Light sleepers may want earplugs and/or a sound app. I had to use both but my friend went without either and slept great. Elizabeth’s three sweet dogs visited often, which we loved. The new sleeping hammocks were comfy and fun to try out. Peaceful yet close to town. We highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Carl’s Campsites - Riverside

Great camp site everyone was super nice and the owners are amazing! 10 out of 10 would recommend there is multiple ways to enter the river for fishing, swimming or just enjoying the beautiful views that the river has to offer. Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly and get along well with others and it was a joy getting to spend time with my two dogs and other peoples dogs as well. You can bring your kayaks and Steve will drive you up the river and drop you off for a nice float down the river back to the camp sites. If you don’t have kayaks don’t worry they have some you can rent and do the same thing. If you like hiking it’s a short 10-15 minute drive to Pilot Mt that has beautiful trails and views of the area with great opportunities to see different rare and endangered wildlife like bald Eagles.

I had an incredible time at Camp 8! The shaded area was absolutely fantastic, providing the perfect escape from the heat. Plus, the river was a stunning sight, with its crystal-clear water flowing gently—it was the ideal spot to relax and soak in the beauty of nature!

This was such a cool campsite and we wish we had more time to enjoy it. It is about 15 minutes from Pilot Mountain visitor center. We stayed at #6 River Rest and the river access was fantastic. Be prepared for other campers to use your site as the access point, as that was a little unclear for us. Hearing the water at night and enjoying it during the evening was fantastic. Not buggy at all for end of May.

Waterfall camping close to CLT

My Neighbor has started his own Campsite, "The Swimming Hole". If mine is booked up and you still want to camp, look him up. His is better suited for small groups but has much more privacy. We have a new road to the campsite; you can now drive down with two-wheel drive vehicle or RV down and park near your tent! There is plenty of soft sand to set up one tent or ten tents; large groups are welcome for an extra fee. A Porta-Potty is available at the campsite. Swimming is usually possible at the base of the falls; however, large amounts of rain can change conditions and make it unusable. I should also add, this is not a completely private campsite deep in the woods. The camp is visible from a shared driveway, and my residence is up a hill that overlooks the area. Also, I do not own the land on the other side of the stream. Occasionally, the owners of that land will spend a weekend afternoon enjoying the waterfall view also. Still much quieter and more private than a regular campground. Glamping tents and additional camping tents are available through a local company. Look in the pictures for the tent with red, white, and blue balloons. Message me for details. Close to US National Whitewater Center (mountain biking, whitewater rafting, kayaking), Kings Mountain National Military Park (Horseback riding and history), Crowders Mountain (Hiking), 3 miles off of I-85 and US-321 for people passing through.

Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

Our property has several natural waterfalls within walking distance of camp, hiking trails, several local vineyards near by as well. We are only about 15 mins to the Yadkin River where you can access swimming and boating. So come check us out and escape into the natural beauty of nature!The town of Yadkinville is less than 5 miles from camp, Boonville is only 10 miles from camp, and Winston-Salem is 15 minutes from camp. You can find an assortment of shops and bars in Winston-Salem as well. Boonville has a great vineyard, Rag Apple Lassie, which is always worth a visit! Shacktown Falls is across the road from our property and is definitely a fun family trip.Our property gives great access to hiking and swimming. There is hiking on and off of our property and swimming at the falls across the road from camp.We try to greet each guest and show you around the property. We live on the property so for the most part we are always there!About the listingOur listing is for tent campers and includes three distinct sites. Because of this you will have privacy but you may see other campers at facilities or in passing. Our campsites are family friendly and we welcome everyone. (This is due to us having our camper sitting in the normal spot for the winter letting family stay when the in for the holidays) Thanks for understanding!!! We have 50/30 amp and water hook up (hose from the house). The site is beside the out building in our side/back yard. If you are traveling and just need a place to stay for a night/two or looking for a quite place for a vacation to the area. We are 2 miles from Interstate 77 mile marker 82 and 2 miles from all kind of restaurants and attractions loads of winery's within 30 min drive.
