Melissa & Dennis are top notch hosts who care about their guests and even provide a small plot of Rosemary and Basil for those who love to cook! Excellent touch. I recently spent two unforgettable nights at this charming little campground, and I truly can’t say enough good things about the experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and right at home. The hosts, Dennis and Melissa, went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, from a warm greeting on arrival to helpful tips about the area and even checking in just to make sure I had everything I needed. It’s clear they both care deeply about the campground and the people who stay there. The site itself is beautifully maintained – quiet, clean, and surrounded by nature. It’s the perfect balance of rustic charm and thoughtful amenities. Whether you’re looking to unplug and unwind or explore the surrounding area, this little gem has you covered. Great spot, I honestly felt like the pictures didn't do it justice. Very quiet and well situated. Location is good, near a nice farm stand with all kinds of year round goodies and treats. We got rained out but the host was very understanding and even offered to refund our rained out night. Would stay again.

I appreciated Joy's helpfulness and communication. I fully intended to unplug for the weekend, and was content to choose a spot in the back 40 without cell signal. It was only a few steps to get to signal, but I put the phone into airplane mode and enjoyed complete solitude.

This is a wonderful place. Well taken care of, private and well set up for all types of campers. The bathroom was clean, the sunset views amazing, our dogs loved it! and the fishing… this is an unexpected treasure. Carla and the folks at Lowrys were extremely gracious and accommodating, true southern hospitality.

I loved this place! Michelle is wonderful. The property is beautiful, idyllic to camp among the horses. We opted for the fresh farm breakfast and it was SO good. The other add ons are really cool too. I hope we will get to come back.

Really nice setting. The sites were level and remained dry and clean during a major rain. Our hostess was amazing. She met us at arrival and showed us to our site. She had great recommendations on things to do and places to eat and visit. This is an active farm with several animals with walking trails, fire pits with wood supplied and play area for children. We will definitely be back to stay here and visit the surrounding towns.

Wonderful Stay – Peaceful and Thoughtfully Set Up Had a great time at Dennis and Melissa’s place! It’s a very peaceful setting, and they really thought of all the little things—trashcan, electricity, water, and a nice place to sit and relax. There were several great spots to set up a hammock, and I heard almost no road noise, which made it even more relaxing. The shower felt amazing, and having a clean, regular toilet with absolutely no smell was such a bonus. Dennis and Melissa were super friendly but never intrusive. Highly recommend this spot!

This was absolutely perfect for my group to stay at. We were pretty desperate for a place to stay when I booked this, and Carla was friendly, flexible, and quick to communicate. Upon arrival after a VERY long day, our hosts saw how tired we were and offered us the already set up tent/yurt. This was a blessing in so many ways as we had an early morning and it stormed pretty bad in the night and would've most likely destroyed our own tent. They were so awesome in everything!

Our 400 acre family cow and pine tree farm most of which was purchased 60 years ago by my father and mother. My two siblings and me were raised here and later bought joining land that now makes up the 400 acres. We all still live on the farm with our families 1.4 mile down a dirt and gravel road. We all enjoy the peace and quiet that you will find here. Sounds of our cows, wildlife and the occasional rumble of a distant train is all you will hear on our farm. Our Hidden Creek is a short fun hike to cool your tired feet. Wide hiking paths all the way around our property if you would like a long hike. Learn more about this land: Enjoy your privacy on our 400 acres of farm and forest trails. 10 minutes from groceries and gas, 15 minutes from a small town. We are surrounded by farmland and forest. There are a few different attractions 5 - 10 minutes away (lake Robinson) it has a boat landing and plenty of fish, (Carolina Sandhills national wildlife refuge)it has plenty of hiking trails and roads perfect for bicycling, small mountain called (Sugarloaf Mountain)perfect for hiking. Local peach/strawberry farm (McLeod farm) with produce/gift shop/free museum/restaurant called (Big's), they have pick your own strawberries in the spring and early summer. In nearby Hartsville and Cheraw there are several golf courses and places for Kayak rentals. Neptune Island waterpark in Hartsville. We have a hidden Creek that is fun to hike to by way of a trail. Small pond for fishing, plenty of room for hiking and bike riding ( grassy, sandy, rolling hills). Beautiful hills to camp on and watch an unobstructed view of the Carolina sunset and sunrise that peak through wooded acreage. Choose a tent camp location or pull/drive your RV/camper right near our cow pasture and watch the cows graze. Fresh drinking water at campsites. Bathroom and heated shower. Pick wild blackberries in early summer and wild grapes in late summer early fall, and we may share some of our home made jellies with you. We welcome family groups year round. At night enjoy the sounds of wildlife while watching the highly visible twinkling stars and tracing the many constellations and if lucky see a shooting star or two.

The Old House

The McKenzies played a big role in the building of Pinehurst with the Grist Mill Parties and even the famous little cabin aptly named The Womens Exchange in Pinehurst, NC being purchased from Author McKenzie who himself was raised in in this beautiful home. It it property that was once inhabited by our Native American Indian as many Indian Points have been pulled from the fields on the property. In its last days as a working farm it was a tobacco farm. There are remnants of the past life scattered around. Including The Green Barn; a 2 story tobacco barn where the tobacco was strung on tobacco sticks, hung on rafters to be cured and taken to market. Memories of times past linger all around, after 200 years it is still standing and ready for many more memories to carry on for generations to come....I am only its keeper for now, until I pass and it is then up to the future McKenzie generations to keep the light burning.... From any area you camp🏕 the pond🏞, with fish, is in walking distance, so is a beautiful clear stream. ****Did I mention that this stream empties into Lake Tillary, yep, that is right. We are within walking distance to Lake Tillary and less than 5 mins to the boat landing. You may bring your boat and park it here while you camp. SPECIAL NOTE: There are animals here that you may pet once you have been properly introduced. You may bring your pets as long as they are vaccinated and behaved. If they fight with other animals or chase chickens or ducks you may want to test this upon your arrival. Unfortunately, you must keep them on leash at all times. Our County does have a leash law, and should property🌱🌹🌻🚜🚗📬🗑or animals🦌🐂🐏🐐🐰🦃🦆 be damaged or harmed you will be held responsible. For example, if your dog kills a chicken, you buy the chicken🐓🐔🐥. If they harm a horse🐎 or donkey🐴, you are responsible for ALL vet fees. Also, be aware we have coyotes, osprey, hawks, as any rural area does. Small animals must be suprevised. We are not responsible for acts of nature. The barn is beautiful and you are welcome to take photos, however, you are NOT permitted in the barn without supervision. Absolutley NO smoking or fire near the barn. It is over 100 years old and built by my great grand family and is irreplaceable. SPECIAL FEATURE: As I am just beginning the camp on site experience I offer several options and additional services. #1. Some find out after arriving that I teach NC Concealed Carry Handgun Classes. If you wish to participate in a class, it is preferred that you register before the day of the class. I will post classes on this site so that campers will know there will be shooting in the late afternoon. Some chose to camp on other weekends, some choose to go out to eat during those times, and some don't mind either way. #2. I am also much in favor of work for camp site. Some have asked to do clean up or other small jobs for the priviledge to camp. So far this has worked out well, with one exception. Please do not accept an offer to take on a task that you do not know how to do. Example, pulling weeds or trimming if you do not know what a weed verses flower looks like. LOL #3. There is plenty of firewood, see photos, here laying around and some trees down that will make great firewood (bring your own cutting tools.) We also sell firewood by the bundle. #4. Being a camper here gives you the privilege of fresh veggies and fruits that are in season, as well as fresh free range eggs. MAJOR POINT: You must remember this is a working farm and our duties and responsibilities for the farm come first. You must abide by the boundaries. *see map* The creek is the back boundary and should never be crossed onto my neighbors. I will not tolerate any disrespect to my neighbors, what so ever. No! the roosters don't have an off button, neither does the jacka... donkey! When it is hay cutting time, we will cut hay. If you want to hike the property, feel free, know the boundaries and bring a machete to cut your way by the creek/stream in some areas. We have thistle trees and briars, you are welcome to cut all you wish as you go. There are spiders, bugs, and snakes etc. Black snakes, king snakes, runners, and whip snakes belong here and we ask that you do not kill them. Copperheads are here as qell and if you see one, come get me and I will dispatch it for you. .
