Welcome to Oak Grove - a property with a 100 year old de-consecrated Episcopal church, beautiful woods, and amazing grandfather oaks. A common site for weddings, drum circles, and other metaphysical and spiritual happenings, the property has a labyrinth, a free expression chalkboard, a Zen sand box that are free to use.
A short walk down the wooded trail brings you to a small clearing with a central fire pit and several areas suitable for a tent. Situated close to a road, traffic can be heard but easily tuned out, particularly as the road gets much quieter at night. The woods are next to a large open field that is great for star gazing. Bring your hammock!

The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has been set up as conservation easement protected land in '23. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks.
Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations.
Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us.
*Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. The beach is bigger in winter, smaller in summer. These changes make the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing.

My daughter and I had an amazing time this weekend at site #3. While I initially loved the idea of a split level, I quickly realized I wish I would’ve booked #1 or #2. We had a truck bed tent and had our stuff laid out on the lower level. Definitely not a deal breaker, just me being critical of my own decision making. None the less, this place was everything we had hoped for and the water provided hours of entertainment. There was a perfect breeze coming off of the water and plenty of space to put my hammock and read.

This place is such a gem. There are constant breezes off the sound that keep bugs down and feel so refreshing. It’s more private than any other campground I have stayed at. You can swim, kayak, fish, or just lay out in the hammock and watch the sunset. We kayaked with dolphins and stingrays at sunset. Really an amazing and unique place. It’s twenty minutes to the closest town so bring what you need. This is not a base camp for exploring surrounding areas - it is the destination. There are some small towns nearby though if you want to explore and I highly recommend a trip to Pungo lake at sunset to observe the bears.

This is a hidden gem! The quiet, private marina was a beautiful and relaxing spot to set up camp. We were able to drop our SUP in at the boat ramp and relax on the dock. Tammy was very helpful getting us settled, and even made sure to inform us about a Memorial Day festival in town that night. Highly recommend, and would love to return!
