Weekend Trip to Spruill Conservation Farm
Camping on Julia’s property was amazing! The view was so relaxing, the walking trails were filled with amazing natural scenery. Each campsite was far enough to still have privacy at your own camp. The feeling of waking up to a beautiful sunrise, throw a fishing line in, start a morning fire and cook breakfast all in the same area was so wonderful.

Stayed at campsite 1 with a roof top tent. Amazing location, we were able to pull right alongside the firepit and benches along the river, couldn't have been a better set up. Very quiet and peace full spot. the host was extremely polite.

This is my 2nd visit. I got lucky and had the whole place to myself for most of my stay! Clean, quiet and beautiful views! I think I saw 3 boats the whole 5 days I was there. I was visited by Tom Turkey a few times and a raccoon was in the area from his little footprints. You will see so many different types of birds, geese, lizards, jumping fish, hawks, eagles, osprey… even one bird that I still haven’t identified. Bring all your water for cooking and drinking. I even have a heated shower, so I brought water for that. Mostly stayed in camp, one day I did go to Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge to photograph the bears. If you truly want to disconnect and relax with nature, this is the place to do it.

The site is very calming and nice. We met Julia as we arrived and made sure that the previous camper did not left any trash that can be blamed to us. She also made sure that the porta potty is cleaned. We loved the sunset, kayaking and our dogs enjoyed it too.

Fantastic site right next to the water. Great views of the cypress trees, and great to wake up to the sound of the waves.
Stayed with two kids who loved the woodland trails, kayaking and fishing on the land, as well as the campfire!
Portaloo on site is clean and everyone was welcoming and friendly on site and within the local neighbourhood. Location is great. Local store about 10 mins away that stocks most essentials as well.
Would highly recommend!

I primarily camp at dispersed sites but this is the one exemption as it’s simply unbeatable. I have and will continue to go back here time and time again. Great location and hosts. Camp sites are far enough apart for privacy and also has good cell service.

What a gem of a campsite! All campsites were full this weekend and we would never know it, the campsites are spaces just far enough away from each other to feel very private. We rented 2 kayaks to leisurely paddle the sound around the Cyprus trees. We caught amazing sunsets and sunrises and the stars at nights were bright and abundant. The portable toilet between the campsites was immaculately clean and well maintained. We will definitely be back!

The best sunsets ever! Beautiful view. We couldn't kayak as the sound was too choppy/windy. We found a river nearby to kayak/fish. Julia was very accommodating. We would definitely stay there again.

Hands down one of the best camping experiences. We wished we could have stayed longer! We spent the night in our camper van parked beside the water. Between the sounds of the waves, an epic sunset, and a clear sky of stars, it was magic. And as many other reviews stated, the Porta Potty was pristine. We took advantage of the kayak rentals and the chopped wood Julia had on site too. Communication was easy and the directions to the campsite were clear. Offering maps of the property at the gate was a great touch! We would love to come back.

The best sunsets we ever experienced! Enjoyed the view and walking trails. Site 2 & 3 were both level and right next to the sound. Julia was very accommodating! The water was rough so found a river nearby to kayak and fish.

The Spruill Conservation Farm is a beautiful place along the Albemarle Sound with campsites close to the water. Campsite #1 had a huge fire pit with group seating, a picnic table and very clean portable toilet. Steps away from the site were several marked, well-maintained trails that skirted along the cypress swamp and adjacent farmland. I really loved this place and would definitely stay over again. I loved reading about the Spruill Conservation Farm history and mission on their website.

We were on campsite #3 and enjoyed our stay. It was very peaceful and the campsite was clean. Very nice view as you sit on the water with a few trails through wooded areas as well as a long the water. I would definitely go here again for a quite and relaxing camping trip.

Another great stay here! We came with a group this time and rented out all 3 sites. Everyone had a wonderful time. We had plenty of space between sites 1 and 2 to set up all the tents and the fire pit area at site 1 made a wonderful group gathering area for meals and hanging out. The kids and dogos loved the little beach area at site 1 (which was much larger than when we come in the summer and fall). We had site 3 set up as a little fishing retreat/get-away and everyone loved the escape from chaos that comes w group camping trips. The port-o-potties were very clean, as always and very much appreciated! Everyone had such a great time! We can't wait for our next stay!
