Weekend Trip to Smoky Mtn Mangalitsa River Ranch

This was our second trip camping at site 1 rocks on Catherine and Rick’s beautiful Smoky Mountain Mangalista River Ranch. They worked so hard to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene and the property was restored so beautifully. We stayed with friends and our two children 4yr and 8yr. All enjoyed the river access, walking around the gorgeous property and taking in the magnificent views! If you’re an animal lover take the mini donkey farm tour. Catherine had so much to share about their farm and the Mangalista pigs they raise. She is enthusiastic and passionate about everything going on at the farm! I highly recommend camping here!

Site was clean and spacious. Felt private but close to plenty of amenities. Nate was very responsive to questions and worked hard to make our stay as perfect as possible. We rented the hot tub as well and it was clean and well maintained.

This was wonderful. Private, quiet, and comfortable. They've added all sorts of thoughtful touches, such as binoculars and a cooler with ice, to help you enjoy your stay. We didn't shower or cook only because out stay was so brief. My first time glamping rather than camping, and it was great!

this is a great spot right near the creek wonderful host and neighbors. My dog and I loved our stay here and will probably come back again. Next time I would probably book a site number six rather than four because it’s a little more level and has a bit more room but overall, it was a wonderful experience and I absolutely loved it.

4 nights at Outercamp, Blue Ridge Falls Retreat

I recently stayed at Geri’s Creekside Yurt, it was such a magical experience. The yurt was super private and secluded, with the creek just about 20 feet away. The walkway to the yurt was also really accessible, almost stroller-friendly, compared to other areas that had more steps. Inside, they provided both a fan and heating, making it comfortable no matter the weather. There were also plenty of board games, books, and other games for entertainment. They had so much thought into all of the essentials provided we almost felt we overpacked! The attention to detail was amazing. Everything was thoughtfully labeled, making it easy to find your way around. Even the outhouse, which I was initially worried about, turned out to be no issue at all. The interior design was also so warming and beautiful to enjoy, even the linens and towels were thoughtfully chosen. Overall, it’s clear that so much thought and care went into creating this peaceful space, highly recommend this beautiful retreat :)

Great HipCamp! Quiet well setup space with a great view of the mountain across the way. William’s property is in a rural-ish neighborhood w other properties adjacent but only 15 mins from downtown fun and food. You’re in a neighborhood, not in the middle of the forest. Solid 30 amp plus water, no sewer. We liked enough that we would’ve stayed longer, If we hadn’t had to leave to use a dump station. We walked our dog in the green space by the road (no sidewalks) or brought him on hikes. Suggestion: When you get the address, look at Google Street view, it helped us navigate to the correct driveway the first time. Follow William instructions to his GPS coordinates do not use the physical address (follow his good instructions!) In 19ft camper trailer.

What a sweet relaxing spot! Right outside our RV was a beautiful stream - I believe an offshoot of the French Broad River? Our pup went swimming several times a day as we sat on perfect large rocks sipping wine and throwing him sticks into the water! Plenty of shade with all the beautiful trees. We’ll be back in the fall to see the changing colors. There are several short term campers here that are super nice and helpful! The people are great and the camping was even better! Thank you to Tom - what a beautiful place you have! And thank you to Travis and Carol for being wonderful neighbors!

We love Smoky Mountain Mangalista! It's beautiful, relaxing, and just what we wanted. The views and experience are amazing, it's in a great location to access all the things we wanted to do, and Catherine and Rick are great! We want to recommend it to everyone...but then again, we want to keep it our little secret so no one finds out! This makes two years in a row for us, and we hope to return again.

I moved here from San Francisco, to simplify my life, and accomplish my dreams. The Tiny house was designed and built by architect, Jesse Plaster. It's a unique cozy loft style design, set back in the woods on our property. It's purposely placed next to a creek, with a nice stone fire ring to really enjoy the outdoors. In the cold months, it's heated by a wood burning stove. Also next to the house are logging roads that allow you to hike the Ripshin Mountains. The Yadkin River is near by, and so is Boone and Blowing Rock. If you like mountain biking, bring your bike to ride Kerr Scott, or Zacks Fork trails. Also, check out the workshops at Pattersonschoolfoundation.org They offer sustainable living classes such as cheese making, mushroom foraging, blacksmithing, soap making, kimchi making, etc... Nestled between evergreen-covered peaks in Etowah and in the shadows of Pisgah National Forest lies Green Haven. With mountain views, rustic and comfortable campsites, and abundant plants and animals to appreciate, Green Haven is a peaceful destination to get away from it all and enjoy spending time immersed in nature and mountain solitude. Wildlife abounds in the area. Deer and white squirrels are a common sight. Tall white pines, poplar, and rhododendron shade the campsites. Enjoy mountain spring water during the winter and spring months (seasonal water supply). Build a crackling fire in the fire pit from available pre-cut wood and existing dead wood around the campsites. Hike the property on the designated trails and discover rock outcroppings, long range mountain views, fern forests, and a variety of wild mushrooms seasonal. Families, individuals, and groups alike enjoy camping here! We have 3 very private campsites. "Chanterelle" campsite has a fire ring, picnic table, and accommodates 5 people. "Fern" has a fire ring, picnic table, and can accommodate 4 people. Both sites have access to a pit latrine. The third site, "Big Rock" is a group site located at the top of the property, offering mountaintop views. Must have V6 or 4WD to access. Big Rock has a fire ring, 2 picnic tables, and its own pit latrine. A seasonal spring (Oct-July) is available on the property and a small stream, Piney Branch, that runs year round, drink at own risk (see map). There are two marked hiking trails. Please use the map to stay on property. Green Haven is centrally located 20 minutes between Brevard and Hendersonville. DuPont State Forest is 25 minutes away and it includes hiking, mountain biking, and waterfalls. Boaters will find the French Broad River, Horseshoe Bend, river access less than 10 minutes. More mountain biking at Ride Kanuga and Ride Rock Creek downhill mountain bike park 15 minutes away. Nearby breweries include Mills River Brewery and Bold Rock Cidery 15 minutes away.

Praise Be! A flat and private spot!

Valle View Camp Spot! A flat and private spot. Praise Be! Quiet area of Valle Crucis. It is just 2 miles from the original Mast General Store. Larger units must back in carefully between the guard rail and the ditch. The lot had some damage from Helene. This is a parking lot of an old church and sits by two small creeks. Maximum stays are up to 6 nights. No water, no septic. No generators are allowed. Large concrete pad/parking lot for RV and an extra car or two. This is a campsite only, an RV is not included. We have electricity but no water or septic. In the spring, summer, and fall - We have a toilet and hand-washing sink inside the building that you may use if you select this as an "add-on". A code to enter the building will be sent if you add this feature. This site does not have potable water and does not have a shower. The closest public bathrooms are at Valle Crucis Community Park. Mountain Dog Coffee and Holloway Corner Kitchen are private, but good places to start your day with coffee and/or food. Please respect our neighbors by limiting noise. This lot is private, but you may see or hear the neighbors. Dogs must always be on a leash when outside your RV or car. There are no garbage cans or trash pick-up; pack it out, please. The trash/convenience center is about 2 miles away on 194 for you to take your garbage. We DO NOT advise taking Clarks Creek Rd. from 105 to get to this location. You must travel to Clarks Creek through Valle Crucis via 194. You must also detach any trailer or towed items a mile or so before the camp spot and before the switchbacks. Please view the map and be comfortable with travel to our campsite. There are sections of the road with no shoulder and pit holes due to current construction/road work. There is very limited cellular service in this area. WiFi & WiFi calling should work fine. --- We have a 50 AMP Hookup NO water NO septic. If you have 2 cars, trucks or RVs in the same group you may add them on as another unit. Grandfather Mountain Campground on 105 allows non-guests to use their dump station for a fee. The trash/convenience center is about 2 miles away on 194 for you to take your garbage. Take the trash there before hooking up and leaving as that section of 194 has a large truck warning.

This was among the first places settled in the Beaver Dam area. The house was built in 1872 and the land was used for cattle. Since then, there has been a beautiful barn added to the property. We love waking up and having our morning coffee overlooking the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains. There is a mountain stream coming down that has salamander and sometimes larger wildlife drinking from it. Feel free to hike up the mountain and sit atop some large boulders along the way.

Quiet Troublesome Gap

My parents bought the 120 acre property in the 1960s. I started clearing and building the campsite in 2019. Watch the sun rise on one side of Troublesome Gap and watch it set on the other side. There is a circle drive for 2 teardrop / squaredrop or pop up campers and plenty of spots to pitch tents. There are also great spots to hang your hammock. Camp where my family camps. My parents bought the property in the 1960s and we have camped up here, hiked, hunted, and cut firewood many weekends. We decided to share the property so you can enjoy camping up here too! The property is in a remote location where you can enjoy the wildlife and the cooler temps in the summer. You'll have 3 acres all to yourself. You wont have to share the spot with anyone else unless you bring them. The closest grocery store is an hour away but the Trust General Store with a restaurant and gas approximately is 7 miles away. There is also a burger joint (Dave's 209) on the way to the Trust General Store. This camping site is in a remote area and the nearest neighbor about 1/2 mile away. Max Patch is about 25 minutes away and features beautiful hiking. The quaint town of Marshall is about 30 minutes away. Asheville is about an hour away. The campsite is easily accessible from Baltimore Branch Road. However Baltimore Brand Road (public road) is steep in places and we don't recommend an RV bigger than a popup camper. If you are pulling a trailer you'll really want to consider having 4wd. If you aren't used to driving on steep dirt mountain roads, you may want to bring your 4wd vehicle. If you have a 2wd vehicle, then you'll want to come to the site via Big Pine Road. This route will take you through Walnut, NC We also provide a porta-a-john for your convenience. Once the reservation is made, I'll send out an info sheet with important info like the gate combination. Please let me know if you haven't received the info sheet within a week of making the reservation. The inclusion policy below is from HipCamp corporate. Our policy is much simpler. Be respectful to others and the property and have a good time. This is a campsite where have the whole 3.5 acre property to yourself. You are surrounded by properties that vary from 40 acres to over a hundred acres. You are with the people in your campsite and pretty much no one else. We just want you to have a great time and bring home great stories. It seems like every visitor to Troublesome Gap has a great story. Come camp with us and build your own story. Important Note: Water is only available on the site from May through September. If you camp on the site Oct through April, you'll need to bring your own water. There is a camera on the property. It faces the gate (and away from the campsite). The camera is mounted on the apple tree.

Our farm is named for its site on the South Toe river and this pristine and mighty river indeed showed us their power during Hurricane Helene. At this time, we will be closed for an indeterminate amount of time. The farm was completely flooded by Hurricane Helene September 27th, 2024. All the greenhouses, barns, and fields were impacted and destroyed. We hope to rebuild and open again some day, but the river is completely different and the riparian camping area is now a 30 foot wall of trees at this time.
