We strive to create an environment for nature viewing, stargazing, fishing, and unwinding in nature as camping should be. Quiet time enforced 10pm-6am. Check in strictly 2-8pm. We do not allow late check ins. We meet and greet all guests.the historic pond was originally much smaller. We have records that date back to our 6th Great-Grandfather, Joab Fountain, who received a royal grant from the crown in 1773 for the property and then just a grist mill, blacksmith shop and old general store. The property was passed down through the Fountain family until the late 1910's. Originally a creek dammed up for the purpose of the mill it was later dug out in the late 1940's by Lee Baysden. The property also features 2 smaller ponds and surrounded by woods, swamp, and farmed fields, a total of 84 acres. Divided by Duplin and Onslow County line making it very unique! Chinquapin, NC
The store/office is the original detached kitchen from his homeplace, which is the white house just up the street. We still use this today and it has Mr. Lee Baysden's handwriting in the store that states opened June 1956. The pond was owned and fished until the late 1990's. A hurricane damaged the dam and land was sold sometime after. The next owner dug the pond into the lake it is today and fixed the dam.
In 2020 My husband Tyler, and I decided to buy the Pond Our camp office/store is opened most weekends or by check-in requests and fishing passes available 7 days a week online from sunrise-dark. Our lake features fishing for Bass, Crappie, Bream, Catfish, Bowfin, varieties of Panfish, and more. Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

Tucked away in the suburbs of Raleigh, our homestead offers a magical glamping getaway with a blend of down-to-earth charm, playful and friendly farm animals, and a vibrant flower field (open May-October).
🌞 What Your Stay Looks Like:
Wake up in a 16' bell tent or teepee directly beside the cow pasture, with the sounds of goats and chickens that are eager to greet you. Spend your morning picking fresh-cut flowers, followed by a peaceful walk around the homestead or an outdoor yoga session—with goats, of course! We have bathrooms on-site, but no RV hookups are available at this time.

Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

We enjoyed our stay at Bright Star Farm. It was nice and quiet. The directions were clear and the spot was very nice. They have a nice bathroom. We enjoyed seeing the peacocks and the miniature horses were adorable. It was nice getting a bit of history from the owners and the were super friendly! Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful stay from pre-checkin to checkin to checkout! I wanted a quite relaxing but comfy stay surrounded by nature w a few creature comforts and the Cabin gave me just that. The view from the cabin is so serene. I enjoyed exploring the campgrounds w my pup and meeting some of the fellow campers. The Cabin is clean, well appointed, comfy bed w a splash of holiday cheer (based on when I stayed). Contessa is an outstanding host! I stayed on the grounds for my entire wkend stay but will checkout local attractions Contessa recommended during a future stay.
JCO is a special place that’s easy to get to and not easy to forget; I’ll be back to get my overlanding on w my partner (he’s a frequent camper here). The JCO hype is legit!

Weekend Trip to The Homestead At Little Creek
As a first time solo glamper, this exceeded my expectations. I was greeted by the Megan, her husband, and their dog Myra. Traveling alone can be scary, but Myra was near me all night. She also walked me to the bathroom each time I went. The tent had a heater, as well as a fireplace in the glamping area that I used. In the morning, I got to meet all of the wonderful animals on the farm. With this location being only 30 minutes from Dix park, it’s the perfect place to crash after seeing Thomas Dambo’s trolls! Great for a group camping trip, but I loved doing it solo.

Wifi not available to all spots, they did say they are working on getting power and internet to all sites. The restroom and shower also clean. We will be going back.

My husband and I had a great 6 day stay on this property. It's in a quiet area but very close to swansboro, cape carteret, emerald isle, and the surrounding areas. All hookups were in great working order and we loved the wifi. The deck area was a nice touch. We hope to stay here again in the future.

Great place-looks just as in the photos. We pulled our campervan in, with all we needed to cook and sleep, and they had the bathroom and outdoor shower we needed. Small gas firepit to gather round with chairs. A picnic table to eat and play games or hang out at. Very close to Emerald Isle beach enjoyment, for driving, not walking. Wifi if you need it. And finally, the very welcoming hosts made it even better!

We loved staying at JCO & our already looking to book again. Such a beautiful, peaceful place with wonderful hosts! Tessa & her husband are so sweet and helpful plus pumped tanks on checkout. So accommodating for our Girl Scout Family camping trip. Fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing available plus small swing set area for little ones. Camp in the rough or glamping with water & electric hookups both are available. Small store with bail, firewood & accessories on site. Note there is no bath house with showers available & only portable toilets at this time.
