We do not allow late check ins. We meet and greet all guests.the historic pond was originally much smaller. We have records that date back to our 6th Great-Grandfather, Joab Fountain, who received a royal grant from the crown in 1773 for the property and then just a grist mill, blacksmith shop and old general store. The property was passed down through the Fountain family until the late 1910's. Originally a creek dammed up for the purpose of the mill it was later dug out in the late 1940's by Lee Baysden. The property also features 2 smaller ponds and surrounded by woods, swamp, and farmed fields, a total of 84 acres. Divided by Duplin and Onslow County line making it very unique! Chinquapin, NC The store/office is the original detached kitchen from his homeplace, which is the white house just up the street. We still use this today and it has Mr. Lee Baysden's handwriting in the store that states opened June 1956. The pond was owned and fished until the late 1990's. A hurricane damaged the dam and land was sold sometime after. The next owner dug the pond into the lake it is today and fixed the dam. In 2020 My husband Tyler, and I decided to buy the Pond Our camp office/store is opened most weekends or by check-in requests and fishing passes available 7 days a week online from sunrise-dark. Our lake features fishing for Bass, Crappie, Bream, Catfish, Bowfin, varieties of Panfish, and more. Check out our Facebook page (JCO Campground at Lee Baysden Pond) for all the latest news and catches! We have tagged bass that have been released back into the lake. Have stayed here 3 times now. This place is a camping gem. Beautiful piece of property. You really feel tucked away in the forest. Still can’t believe this is so close to my house. Highly recommend for a weekend get away! Also - the owners really take pride in these campsites. You can tell they have put a lot of hard work into their land!

I loved tent camping on Megan’s homestead! Even though it rained the whole night, my pup and I felt very warm and safe tucked in their wooded trees. We had such a good stay on Megan’s land. We tent camped with our 2 year old for 2 nights and he absolutely loved seeing the animals and playing by the creek. We didn’t make it for him to feed the animals but there is so many to see, kids would absolutely love this experience. The whole family was so helpful and friendly. Just the right amount of privacy. We have nothing bad to say and would absolutely stay with them again!

4 nights at Pasture Creek Farms

Wonderfully secluded campsites a ways off the highway, on the banks of a beautiful little pond. Some of the sites are not numbered, so I'm not entirely sure which I stayed at, I think Site 8, but it is beautiful. At night, there were fireflies over the pond, which I haven't seen in years. The gravel/dirt drive back to the sites around the back pond is a little rough, especially after a rain, if you don't have 4WD and good ground clearance you might want to stick to the sites closer to the road. There's lots of wildlife, you'll scare up a few rabbits on the drive back, and I woke up to wild turkeys not a hundred feet away one morning. There is a little traffic noise from the highway, but the crickets and cicadas mostly drown it out. Overall a very pleasant and peaceful campground.

Weekend Trip to JCO Campground at Lee Baysden Pond

This was such a good getaway for myself and my partner and our two dogs. We camped pretty far back and it STORMED when we were checking in (our fault for arriving during a storm), but the ground dried up SO fast at our site. No puddles by morning. It was perfect. Contessa was so kind and helpful the entire time we were there. It was great fishing, very private camping, and great kayaking. I have to make sure when we camp with our dogs that we have a lot of privacy because one of my dogs is terrified of strangers and having strangers everywhere can cause some chaos, so we try to just stick to ourselves and are careful about where we camp. We couldn't have asked for more privacy. Even the spots that are closer together are separated by brush and trees. There were trees to hang a hammock, and a tarp over our tent. There's a Walmart 20 mins from site. We WILL be back!! Thank you for everything. Sorry we came when it was storming.

I love my experience here every time I come out here it’s quiet it’s peaceful very secluded. When you have other campers come out here they never bother you. It’s a very peaceful tranquility spot. I’m always gonna recommend people to come out here all the time and the reason why is because sometimes you just need to go set your ass up up in the forest, a.k.a. your tent and once in a while, just spend a little time in nature and just kick back and just really appreciate life once again. This is the most amazing property that I found the host are amazing people and their property is an amazing property as well

My experiences are very enjoyable here. I would recommend it to everybody and anybody prices do vary though through summer and winter 19 in the winter time and 29 in the summer spring I don’t know about fall yet, but let me tell you it is the most amazing spot.

Beautiful area. Great for self-contained campers. There is a peacock roaming around aswell which was very cool to see. The pond was beautiful to see each day. Definitely recommend!

We absolutely loved this campsite! The setup was perfect—secluded, peaceful, and quiet, exactly what we were looking for. There was plenty of space for three large tents and two vehicles, with room to spare. It made for a really comfortable and relaxing experience. Two of my boys got to learn to fish right from the campsite. We’ll definitely be coming back!

2nd time here. Love this spot. Great for a quick overnight camp after work. Only 10 min from my house. Very peaceful property. Loved the addition of the picnic bench!!! Would highly recommend.
