Our little private campground is a hidden jewel in the making. Each campsite is private. We are not a parking lot like so many campgrounds are these days. We are still currently working on infrastructure but are willing to host campers that are self sufficient at a reduced rate for now. We do have a fun play ground, hiking trails, a steam we lovingly named Alligator Gore (to keep the little ones out of the mud). We are pet friendly. Each site has a fire ring or fire pit. We have a full bathroom available. We have a small camp store. We have group camp sites, pull through RV / Camper sites and a few glamping cabins. Located only 40 minutes from the NC coast and much more affordable and less crowded. We are still growing so we do not have a pool yet but will have one in the future. We do have a kids and youth program with weekly crafts and other activities. Picnic tables are available on some sites. Almost across the street is a wonderful boat ramp and fishing spot on the Cape Fear River. Canoe down to a sand bank about a mile down river and have a romantic picnic. A Celtic themed restaurant, the Mad Boar, is just a 10 minute drive if you are looking for a unique farm to table experience. And Duplin Winery is just 15 minutes away with tastings and tours. Located just 10 minutes from I-40 off US 41 we are easily found. A diamond in the rough.

The land was once our 6th Great Grandfather's and how Fountaintown was formed. The property consists of 84+ acres: 22-acre lake, swamps, creeks, and farmland. We are in a farming community. We take pride in stewardship of the land and waters to keep its natural beauty and help with keeping the balance of the ecosystem. Many animals call it home! (Heron, Ducks, Osprey, Turkey, deer, beaver, fish, and many other wildlife) We have a lake Cat named Tail. She may greet you! The Ponds are stocked with Bass, catfish, crappie, bluegill and more. JCO currently has 9 RV/Travel Trailer sites on main side that wrap around the lake. A Floating cabin and an A-frame Glamping cabin on main side. Across the lake we have 12 primitive tent sites that spread-out around the property. Views of lake and sunset, little pond, swamp and creek views. The lake is a Fishing lake. River Farm is a fantastic stop if you are cycling the Neuse River Trail and need an over night stay. We are a peaceful campsite located along the Greenway Trail 20 minutes from Downtown Raleigh and 10 minutes from Clayton. The farm offers private wooded meadows with direct access to the Greenway for walking and cycling. Campers can either rent a tent or bring their own, choosing between secluded spots, shaded areas, or open spaces. The campsite is accessible via a gravel farm track and is close to the Greenway, river, and main house for bathroom access.

Back to the basics, come and experience Tar River Life’s primitive camping on the Tar River.
Enjoy being on the river and listening to slow running sound of the Tar River. Bring your own tent or rent one of ours. You can drive your vehicle to all of our campsites.
The drive to camp is about 1/2 miles. Each site includes a fire pit, wood and trash bin. Cook your own meals or try and catch your own fish from the river. Campsites can be secluded or grouped.
Each site comes with a picnic table, 1 bundle of wood and trash can. Stay for a night or longer period of time, come and enjoy the outdoors with us. We have lots of walking trails, fishing access, wildlife, kayaking and tubing (must be purchased through us). 2WD vehicles are ok except during wet conditions.

Extremely well kept camp ground. Lots of options for your RV or tent needs. They have paved and gravel sites for your RV. Those who like to camp in their tents there are very nice sites for that, grassy and level. For those with RVs make note the sites are not level. You will need to take the time to setup well. They have very nice facilities, a pool, restrooms, and showers. If you're looking to adventure into Swansboro or the Croatan National Forest, the lakes are perfectly located. Everything is about 20 minutes from wherever your are. Come by and stay a while, we did and it was a blast.

We were so thankful that we found a spot at Red Farm. We had been on the road for 8 hours and really needed to land for the night. Monte was super nice and told us if we ended up coming back his way and the spots were taken, he would find a spot for us. Easy to find and had great services attached for a good price.

We had a great time. It wasn't very busy so it was pretty quiet and peaceful. Every campsite had views of the river and some had access to the river. The host was nice and checked on us after we had settled in. It was a short drive to refill water at Vollmer's farm(which also had coffee and ice cream!). Each site had its own portable toilet which was great. Will definitely be back to explore the river by kayak!

We had a great 3-night Easter/Anniversary getaway at Bright Star Farm in our little camper, Bonnie Sue. We enjoyed the country atmosphere, including being around the animals - horses, peacocks, chickens, etc. The location is easy to get to. Steve met us there as we arrived, showed us where to park, gave us info on the restroom location and supplied an electrical extension. The restroom was a nice sink and toilet, but no shower. Bonnie Sue has a shower, so no issue for us. Water pressure was great and everything worked well. We were going to go into New Bern, but ended up just enjoying the sunshine and peacefulness at the farm. We did visit Kinston one night to eat at Vivian Howard's restaurant, Chef & The Farmer, which was very good and unique. There is a Dollar General 5 miles away if you need anything, so that's good. Steve & Connie were great hosts. We will definitely go back to this location again in the future!

Our trip was delayed slightly, but Jeff and Megan were very easy to work with. Even though we arrived much later than expected, we were greeted by Jeff. He met us at the entrance and helped us get parked, took time to show us around even though it was raining.
Jeff and Megan were great hosts, offering suggestions for local food and gas stations. Nice peaceful Hipcamp for our “halfway to the coast” stop.
