My wife and I moved to the area, from Boone, in the spring of 2014. Our dream was to own a house, preferably a cabin, on top of a mountain with long range views and a gradual winding road to the top. Living in Boone, this dream was definitely out of reach. When we began our search for a new home in the Asheville area, we discovered that the more affordable homes were in fact on the mountains. Perfect! In general I always have a pretty positive outlook on what’s possible, however, I was skeptical that we would ever find our dream home. As Jeannie began her Zillow browsing adventures, one particular cabin with acreage, that was outside of our budget continued to pop up. Jeannie would delete it and then it would come back. At some point the price began to drop, and drop, and drop. On our way back into town one weekend after attending a wedding, I convinced Jeannie to drive by the cabin just because we had the time. Immediately we fell in love and reached out to our realtor buddy. It was more of a shot in the dark but it couldn’t hurt, right? We held our breath for the next month totally expecting someone to get it under contract before us or the sellers not accepting our offer. It had already been reduced significantly so we knew our chances of a lowball offer were slim. We offered the most that we could get a loan for. They accepted! I still get anxious thinking back to that month, October 2014. Many years and two children later, here we are, just as excited everyday to make the long trek up our mountain as we were that August of 2014, and now we are happy to offer a similar experience to you, without having to buy the place. Although our dirt road is ~3/4 mile long, we are just 8 miles from the heart of Asheville, 4.5 miles from Beacon Village in Swannanoa, 9 miles from Black Mountain, and 3 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our property is home to some of the most rare and beautiful wildflowers in the region, wildlife of all kinds, and a wood fired pottery kiln! We have three spirited dogs who bark and play in the yard, and neighbors who ride motorcycles and make some noise sometimes, so it's not always quiet and peaceful, but it is beautiful and far more private than you'll get at a campground. This is a working forest farm and studio space, so there will likely be sounds of productivity during daytime hours. We often have plants for sale, as well as pottery, herbs, eggs, and other farm offerings. We live on a one lane mountain road that is shared by multiple homes. The road is rough in some areas. If you're used to forest service roads, you'll be fine here. If you're used to paved roads, you might find ours a little jarring. My mom drives a little front wheel drive car and makes it here fine, but use your best judgement based on what you're used to. AWD/4WD recommended for ease of parking at the campsite (just in case it has been a wet season, otherwise totally not necessary). We do recommend getting here before dark the first time you arrive if possible for ease of navigation.

The site's (there's only one!) first appeal is the amazing view of Bull Mountain Ridge. Beautiful all year long, but particularly in late October when the leaves are in their richest colors. It feels private and tucked away, but is very accessible to all of what the Asheville area has to offer. Downtown is a 15 minute drive; ride services and shuttles are both easy to secure and quite affordable. The backdrop of the site is forested and easy to relax in - the understory is maintained for guest use, providing cooling shade with a stunning view. I usually try to say hello to folks and make sure they get settled in alright, but let me know if you'd prefer just to come in and have privacy. Don't feel the need to come to the house unless you can't get a hold of me via text and you need assistance. I may not be available when you arrive, but I'll try to get back in touch with you as soon as I'm able. **Please be aware that this section of North Carolina has a particularly large population of American black bears. Spent Father's Day weekend with my son and my father - three generations in one camper. It was amazing and Jake was AWESOME!! Fishing was high on list of priorities, as our family thoroughly enjoys the peacefulness of the sport. Not only did Jake provide us with some pointers on where to catch some fish, but he also even allowed us to enjoy his private access to the river to catch some trout! There were good hiking trails within 20-30 minutes and a great little creek about 2 minutes away that the doggos loved swimming in. But, do take note that there isn't anywhere to actually walk your pups if traveling with them without leaving the area and driving down the road a bit to either the fenced in public park/swimming pool (and the fence is not 100% secure and there's no shade) or the gravel road that goes by the farm, which is pretty lightly traveled and made for a good walk. Minor things to note but definitely not deal breakers. Great host communication.

Great communication and an excellent site, and quiet. It can be tricky to get a good downhill run to the dump station, depending on where you park. If you watch the side of the hill late at night, you might see some blue fireflies down low.

We loved camping on Nate’s land! It was spacious, clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. The additional add on amenities were great. We added the hot tub, outdoor kitchen, and the WiFi. Super fun to have the access to the outdoor area. Close proximity to town and about 20 min to everything. We would definitely visit this site again!

Creekside is very easy to find and convenient when in Asheville, NC. It is about 15 minutes to downtown and Biltmore. Fast communication when we had questions. I would definitely recommend as a place to stay when coming to visit Asheville.
