Overall, we had a great experience & really appreciated the owners accommodating our last-minute reservation! They are incredibly kind, genuine, & welcoming, and their passion for the property truly shows.
Upside: The ridge location is wonderful & feels secluded. The views of Pisgah National Forest & the peaks are incredible!! The camp site & bathhouse were spotless & well maintained.
Downside: Actual setup was different from what was expected. During booking, we were told one other site was reserved, so we expected a quiet ridge with just one other camper. It wasn't mentioned that the owners occupy one of the three sites themselves, or that a large family would be staying through Harvest Hosts. While we don't mind sharing the space with the hosts or other guests, a heads-up would have been appreciated. The unexpected foot traffic resulted in a busier vibe & less privacy than we anticipated.
Also, as a note for future guests, there are security cameras. A gate camera is completely understandable, but we didn't realize beforehand that there was one pointed toward the bathhouse & camp area. We are just mentioning it to help future campers know exactly what to expect.
Lastly, at no fault of the owner, the 1 mile proximity to I-40 created a constant hum of traffic.
The hosts are really wonderful, & this would be a fantastic site for many. However, it lacked the quiet seclusion we prefer for our outdoor-focused camping style

The gravel drive going up was in great shape and no issue at all pulling a fifth wheel up with 4wd. Views are amazing, sites are very level and the concrete pad outside the door was a great add. Bathhouse and free laundry were a huge plus for our family during our three night stay.

Perfect spot for a weekend riding MTB in Old Fort. East access to the Gateway Trails and the Kitsuma area. Campsite was perfectly level, bathhouse was very nice and clean. Host was responsive, quickly answered any and all questions. Highly recommend this host!

Great views, and full hook ups. Saw many deer wondering around. Don’t let the hill discourage you. It is not that bad just swing wide at the first turn. Would return as is a good jumping point for many activities in the area.

Views were awesome! Able to get up and down the drive fairly well despite the steepness in our 32ft travel trailer. Quiet little spot, would camp here again.

My site was very nice and plenty of space. Bathroom and shower was very clean. The view was fantastic while still being close to the highway. Within close enough distance to anything you want to do in and around Asheville.

The steep driveway wasn't that bad and led to camping sites that captured the heart of the North Carolina mountains. Great privacy and views and even some woodland creatures to remind you of the camping experience.
Full hookups and access to a very, very clean bathhouse/laundry room.
Awesome quick access to many attractions (I favor all the local hiking trails).
Definitely on my list to visit again. Thankx!

Loved the view of the mountains from the campsite. Super nice, as there are only 3 other spots and convient to have your sewer connection on site as well. Note to those with cars that have to be put in 4wd, put in 4wd before heading up the hill. The hardest part is in the beginning. Also, pull your rig all the way to the right after you get up the hill and then back into site.

We highly recommend Catawba Bend! The driveway is a bit steep, but we had no trouble towing our camper (Luna Rover) up the hill. We chose the camping site under a giant oak tree and next to the fabulous bathhouse. The bathhouse was spotlessly clean, with a shower that had instant hot water and really nice water pressure. Laundry machines and a large utility sink were also available in the bathhouse. All three camping sites were well-maintained and well-spaced. The location, just off I-40, is perfect, offering quick access to Asheville (25 minutes) and Old Fort (5 minutes), yet you feel like you are in the middle of the mountains. The views were fabulous and the hosts were warm and welcoming.
