The stay was amazing! The cabin was the perfect size for us and the dogs! The weather was absolutely beautiful which allows us to go hiking at some nearby trails. The cabin was equipped with anything we could have needed and more. We loved the hot tub and fire pit and were able to see the stars from each spot. Definitely will be booking a stay in the Fall. Kevin the host was super nice and accommodating, got to chat with him on our last day before we left. Looking forward to our next stay!!

What a beautiful setup Kevin has out there! The bungalow was super comfortable and what a decadent treat having a personal hot tub! It was spotless, stocked with everything needed, and it was such a pleasure speaking to Kevin. Clearly a top notch human being. Couldn’t have been happier and would stay again in an instant.

My husband and I just stayed here. This spot was great! Very well thought out. From providing coffee, basic toiletries, even a collagen face mask! We had all the basics we needed to cook food. Breakfast was on their electric griddle, dinner was cooked over the fire on their campfire grill. They also have a counter top toaster oven with lots of features but we didn't use it. Lots of plants to identify, forage. Cleared path to walk to the top of the mountain. The hot tub was awesome, the deck was where we hungout the most, and the firepit was great (comfy chairs too!) The privacy, ease of check in and check out and all the great touches made this a great spot for us. Cell reception is good. Internet good. We will be back!

We had so much fun staying here! It's small but cozy, and the animals were such a treat. Danielle even left us food to feed the goats. We had all the cookware we needed to make a pasta dinner and Danielle was very responsive when we had questions. Beautiful mountain views as well.

We built this cabin with you in mind. Everything was custom made by us; from the woodstove rock wall, to the cabinets and outdoor picnic table. You will instantly relax when you walk into this very special place. You will never want to leave! The cabin includes a large front porch with rocking chairs where you will enjoy your warm tea or coffee each morning and evening while overlooking the peaceful pond and woods. There is an outdoor fire ring and picnic table where you can enjoy a campfire, cook on the open flame, and have smore's in the evening. Inside the cabin you will find everything to be incredibly beautiful and spaced to create the coziest atmosphere you've ever enjoyed. There is a wood burning stove indoors that when lit, takes the whole experience to the next level! But you don't have to rely on the woodstove for heat, we've installed a brand new wall unit for heat and air! You also have a DVD player and a television with an assortment of DVDs to choose from. The cabin sleeps 4-5 people comfortably. There is a full size bed that sleeps 2 in the main room of the cabin. There is a loft above that sleeps 2-3 more. A rolling library ladder is how the kids will access the loft area! So fun! The kitchen is complete with a refrigerator, electric stove, oven, microwave, and Keurig coffee maker. A peaceful mood is set by warm-toned sawmill lumber walls, recessed lighting in the ceiling, a kitchen window above the sink that overlooks the side yard campfire area and beautiful woods surrounding the cozy cabin. The bathroom is so nice with a stand-up shower, hand-made oak vanity, and a door to the "star-gazing" porch. Flood lighting lights up the area around the cabin at night so you might spot a deer, fox, or even a bear traveling through or getting a drink of water from the pond. Secluded Mountain Tiny Home & Barn

When you go to sleep, there's no light except the moon and stars, no refrigerator or central heating or air conditioning noise -- only the sounds of nature -- the stream, crickets or frogs in the nearby pond, dogs or coyotes in the distance. Without the glow of a nearby city, the hot tub on a clear night, the skies are dazzling. Speaking of which, the wood-fired hot tub is made by a company called Snorkel. It's perfect for 2 and can fit 3, although tight. It's Japanese style hot tub bathing, meaning no chemicals. Also, since we're not grid tied, it relies on a firebox heating fresh spring water, which you fill it with. It takes approx. 35 minutes to fill the tub and between 3 and 3.5 hours to heat (longer when it's really cold!). There's a thermometer in it, so as it gets closer to your liking (don't let it get over 102 degrees), let the existing logs burn down, choke off the air vent sleeve and hop in. With no pump sounds and the stars above, it's incomparable. The $50 fee (per 2 night rentals) covers thorough cleaning between guests and split firewood. You will be very comfortable in Little Good Egg, even in extreme weather, simply by paying attention and taking more time for simple tasks. It sounds corny, but there is a meditative quality to thinking and doing things like heating water, keeping warm, staying hydrated, eating well and choosing to do what you really want. I'm always amazed how busy I am -- and how different this kind of busy feels -- without electronics and my technological "time savers." Odd as it sounds to say this, it's stunning and wonderful to go "offline," even for just a day, and not get hit by little chirps and incoming messages that seem to arrive now 24/7. Note: Since we opened in October, 2014, guest reviews consistently tell us us best thing about staying at Good Egg is being off the grid and the treadmill of modern life, unplugging from the dominant culture and experiencing oneself as humans did 100 years ago and more. Whether it’s the absence of electricity (in the cabin), the quiet of the country, no city glow in the night sky, or the once common experience of the natural world dominating over human-made or human-crafted things, it’s astonishing for many of us to see and feel and experience without constant communications via text and email and the distractions of modern life. Many people write that they’ve learned an enormous amount about themselves, about homesteading or permaculture, and about alternate ways of being. This Spring (2016), we’ve increased the price a bit reflect more accurately our costs to maintain and improve the buildings & the property as well as carefully and lovingly transitioning it between guests. Hilltop was a joint project that James built in 2012 with a talented woodworker and friend in 6 months of saturdays for less than $5k. We have maintained the original vibe of the place, rustic simplicity and elegance a notch or two above glamping, well-described by the zen koan, "chop wood, carry water" Orchard House was built entirely by James from the block up to the roof, averaging 1 hour/day for 3 years or 1,000 hours. Some of the Hilltop photos are a bit dated, we have a more private outhouse behind the cabin, and have made a few improvements here and there. Reach out anytime for any reason. We love hosting and nearly everyone enjoys their stay.

You take Waterville Road Exit 451 and go underneath the interstate and up the gravel road (going around the road closed signs) to our hostel which is the first building on said road. We hope that I40 will open back up here soon with two lanes going in either direction, but as of now we do not know when that will be (though we hope soon!). We will post updates on our webpage and Facebook as we learn more and look forward to seeing everyone's smiling faces during the 2025 hiking season! It has easy access but the property has abundant trees and is secluded from nearby roads and homes for privacy. The interior, baths, and kitchen are updated but maintain a pleasant farmhouse feel. The host had it perfectly clean and well stocked. It has a bonfire pit and a smaller fire pit for outside gatherings and the hot tub was immaculately clean, heated, and ready for use when we arrived. Kids can enjoy swings and slides. We used it for a small gathering where about a dozen guests gathered during the day and six spent the night. Could not have been happier with property or hosts. Fireworks are legal and permitted within reasonable hours. Horses are welcome.
