Weekend Trip to Standing Bear Farm / Hostel

This place is an absolute gem!🏕🧸 Every detail from the handmade tree house to the outdoor shower feels crafted with love and care. The shower itself is stunning, with a beautiful cobblestone bridge leading to it and the peaceful sound of nearby creeks setting the most serene atmosphere. There’s a cozy communal space to sit around the fire that feels so welcoming and homey. Everyone we met was incredibly friendly, and the whole space has such a kind, open-hearted vibe. It’s clear how much intention went into creating this magical little haven. We’ll definitely be back!🤎

Beautiful campsite with 24 hour kitchen and ability to have a campfire! Definitely saving this campsite for future trips! Maria was very hospitable. Cute dogs, cats and chickens!

We had a great time. We loved having the animals come up to the fence and interact with us. The spot is not level so just know you will need leveling supplies. Loved our visit.

Weekend Trip to Ash Grove Cabins and Camping

We loved camping with our travel trailer. All the sites are pull through so no backing up on steep mountain hills! They also offer a dump station which is pull through. We enjoyed the suggestions of places to eat and shop but especially loved the waterfall guide. Mark and Ester were easy to work with and truly seem to care for their campers.

Great views! All we needed! Rain squelched our plans for more hiking, but having the game room on site helped keep the kids entertained. Clean bathrooms close by and the pasture stayed busy with animal friends. Very close to town but Ray and Shannon were also so willing to help if needed.

The campground is very cute, well organized and in general kept it very well. Mark was super friendly and helpful with all the explanations regarding the campsite, facilities, things to do around, fire supplies, etc.. The bathrooms are very clean and all went pretty smooth. The gnome house is a great idea for those that want a camping experience, but don't feel like getting up there on a Friday afternoon and build a tent. Plus, if you bring a heater, you can stay warm even in the colder season. I would highly suggest this place, me, my husband and our 2 dogs had a lot of fun and the area is just perfect for an outdoor weekend, with all the waterfalls and events going on around Brevard.

What an incredible place! Shannon and Ray were so nice and welcoming, the property is gorgeous, the site was perfect and the creatures (especially the sweet kitties) made it even better if that’s possible. Will definitely be back!

In the heart of the Smoky Mountains surrounded by Cherokee National Forest lies Standing Bear Farm, a turn of the century multi-generational farmstead including the original homestead, barns, outbuildings and farmhouse. The outbuildings have now been converted to a bunkhouse and cabin where we offer rustic lodging to hikers and others interested in stepping back from today's hectic lifestyle to a time in America's past when life in rural back-country Appalachia was considered the "good life". Road closure notice in the wake of hurricane Helene: PLEASE READ! Currently, we are accessible by road only via I40 East. You take Waterville Road Exit 451 and go underneath the interstate and up the gravel road (going around the road closed signs) to our hostel which is the first building on said road. We hope that I40 will open back up here soon with two lanes going in either direction, but as of now we do not know when that will be (though we hope soon!). We will post updates on our webpage and Facebook as we learn more and look forward to seeing everyone's smiling faces during the 2025 hiking season! We are first-come, first-served in Northbound thru hiking season (March 15 through May 15), however, reservations are available at all other times of the year by contacting us via phone 4234870014 (Call) or 4236080149 (Call or Text). Hike or drive-in. Business hours: 8am-8pm. Open year round and on holidays. Call ahead if arriving early in the morning or late at night. We offer shuttles to various locations on and off the trail. Please call or text us for prices and scheduling or you may email to get a price quote. Price varies based on party size, distance, and road conditions and closures. Give us a call to inquire about our kenneling and shuttle service for your furry friends that are not allowed in the GSMNP. Restock on essential food items to get you on to Hot Springs (northbound) or through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (southbound). This 1 room cabin includes 1 King bed, pullout queen sofa, large comfy chair, dining table for 4, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, grill, picnic table, fire pit, cooking essentials, towels, and linens. This cabin is next to a bathhouse. There is a mens and womens restroom. Both restrooms are equipped with 6 showers, 4 stalls, and 8 sinks. You will have complete access to restrooms and showers. You will also have access to the gameroom and exercise room. Across from the cabin is a large pasture and our animals.
