Not suitable for parties or loud groups. For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka. Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinarily beautiful spots on earth that make you feel like you are in another world. It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below. The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls. Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. I am Karl and with my wife Danielle together we own 15 acres of peacefully settled forest on the edge of over 10,000 acres of State Forest land. It is on a seasonal road. I have no registered address, but a small sign marks my access road as Jacob Lane. This is a tribute to my friends. The Amish that helped me build our off-grid cabin. It is very quiet here, but we are an active homestead and work starts at 9am every day, we do our best to be considerate and ask the same from you. The forest rangers and DEC officers that patrol here keep a tight rein on the forest and its preservation. We have one guest cabin and several places a tent or RV can park. There are no hookups. Please bring some potable water. We do have spring water available but it's a drive. I first came here about 15 years ago. I would like to try and see if others would enjoy what we have made our lives. I do like to talk and although I don't lie, stretching the truth is an artform I have perfected so be prepared. There is a state-run beach and picnic area about 3 minute drive away on the Hinkley Reservoir. And a few other bodies of water to kayak and fish. We have Kayaks for use at an extra cost. We are about 15 to 20 minutes away from the Herkimer Diamond Mines. You can bike, hike, nature watch or just enjoy the peacefulness of the tree you chose to sit against. Down and ready firewood is everywhere if you want to bend over and pick it up. You can possess firearms on the property, but you may not discharge one without prior approval unless it's to save your life or that of another. There are places not far away that you can legally shoot and enjoy yourself. There are traditional outhouses on the property and for those that know how cat holing is allowed. Ask if unsure. No dumping tanks or portable toilets anywhere and that includes the outhouses. The state of New York has facilities at campgrounds that do a proper job with that type of waste. We really enjoyed our stay at the Scandinavian staycation cabin! The place was spacious, cozy, and the wood stove was our absolute favorite, it made everything feel so warm and homey. On our last morning, we even got some snow flurries, which totally made our day. Our cat loved hanging out on the stairs too. It was a little chilly at times, but overall we enjoyed our stay!

I had a wonderful experience staying at this cabin. The land is breathtaking. The waterfall was everything I could’ve asked for on my birthday for fun swimming adventures. The cabin was clean and cozy. Loved using the solar shower bags under the full moon for an additional cold plunge indulgence. Diner nearby makes a mean strawberry shortcake with biscuits. Awesome farmers market. Stay here-you will love it!

Weekend Trip to Waterfall Sanctuary & Quiet Retreat

Everything was perfect! The waterfall was stunning and a fun scramble to get to. The water was quite chilly as it was the last week of September, but we still went for a swim and it was a great spot with plenty of room. Have a good swi. The cabin is adorable, and the bed was so comfortable. The deck was really nice for doing yoga on and the fire pit set up was lovely.. We took a little hike that was about 10 minutes away that had beautiful views and stopped at a farm stand that had tons of beautiful produce and delicious treats. We could have easily bought all the food we needed for the weekend at that one farm stand. The site was very private and a very short walk from the car to the site. It was a perfect weekend getaway!

Took my two daughters for the weekend. The cabin was very well maintained, was clean, comfortable and had plenty of light at night. The picnic table, fire pit and campfire area outside were fantastic during night time and breakfast. Most importantly - the short hike to the waterfall was a wonderful early morning adventure.

2 nights at Waterfall Sanctuary & Quiet Retreat

So peaceful and beautifully designed. The cabin was immaculate and the grounds were just as perfect. I had everything I needed and it was so fun having the neighbor’s cat nearby as a feline companion 🩷 I’d love to come back someday when it’s warmer so I can do more waterfall swimming!

The cabins and sites are well maintained with many amenities, and conveniently located to local farm stands and things to do. The gorge and sacred waterfall are truly a special place to spend the day surrounded with afternoon. This was my 2nd stay here and would absolutely return again!

What a wonderful stay! the location was so so peaceful and the waterfall was absolutely beautiful and serene. The landscape was gorgeous and we really enjoyed the Vromans Noise Loop trail -- a must-see --that offered stunning views of the valley below. The cabin was clean and well maintained (the bed was super comfy), and the rustic community room area was great for 'as-needed' supplies, like cooking pans, a coffee maker, and a place to wash the dishes . We felt like we were the only ones there in a very lush natural setting. Looking forward to returning!!! highly recommended.

Weekend Trip to The Scandinavian Staycation Cabin

We absolutely loved our stay. The house was not only clean and comfortable but also sweetly decorated. It’s clear that a lot of heart and soul was put into the design. The house was also stocked with everything we needed. It was secluded enough for our kids and dogs to run and play outside without worry. And the short drive to the grocery store, shops and restaurants was convenient. Check in and out were seamless. Thank you!

Weekend Trip to Catskills Farmhand Cabin

The Farmhand Cabin was just what I was looking for...a quiet warm, welcoming place, peaceful and relaxing. The cabin has all you need for a quiet get-away. Sitting on the porch drinking my morning coffee taking the view, watching the horses in their field, was the perfect start to my day. I loved wandering around the farm, visiting the animals, particularly the horses and goats. It was different experience each time, depending on time of day. Just hanging around the gate watching the horses. goats and chickens was delightful. I was fascinated by the livestock guardian dogs. They take their job seriously. Going through the horse field gate with Denise and meeting the horses and all the goats - and the guardian dog (who proceeded to sniff and allowed me to stay, while keeping a watchful eye out) - was an experience I'll never forget. I fell in love with Kevin, a retired NYC Central Park Carriage horse. Petting the horses, expecially Kevin's velvet nose was really a highlight for me. Farm noises - animal and tractors - day and night, just faded into background noise. Evenings were spent by the brook and campfire, soothing and beautiful. I have traveled a lot - camping and sightseeing - this Farmhand Cabin long weekend ranks at the top of all vacations. I enjoyed every minute and look forward to returning next year! What an absolutely amazing place! Communication with Amy was perfect leading up to our stay and getting there was very easy. My son and I were so, so impressed with the cabin and the little area around it. We had everything we could have needed between the cabin and community room. The hike to the falls is tough (watch out for spots of clay in the river...they steal shoes! lol) but so, so worth it. One of the highlights of our trip was the visit from the sweet little cat that came while we were packing up, We will definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Amy’s Forest cabin. The cabin itself was super cozy and the bed was comfortable. My husband and I enjoy the feeling of being in nature while still having a bed to sleep on, so this was perfect for us. The campsite was very private and access to the waterfall was definitely a highlight. We will be back!

The cabin was so cute and a perfect getaway for me and my partner. Any was very responsive and easy to get in touch with. We spent our time relaxing and swimming down at the falls and all I can say is that it is truly an enchanting place. The host was so right about the hike down, it requires a lot of careful movement and I did in fact take her advice and slide down on my backside down some of the VERY steep parts of the path. If you are a strong and confident hiker, you’ll enjoy the trip down to the falls for sure! Thank you for the beautiful place to rest! We can’t wait to visit again!
