For generations, the majestic waterfall has been revered for its spectacular beauty. It’s considered a sacred site central to local land rematriation work with the Kanienkeha:ka.
Coursing between two outcroppings in a deep ravine, the waterfall crashes down over mossy rock shelves into emerald swimming holes and through dramatic clay beds. It’s one of those extraordinary spots on earth that make you feel like you’re in another world. The sites aren’t suitable for parties or loud groups.
It's about a 10 minute hike to the waterfall where you can spend the day swimming, exploring the clay beds and looking for fossils in the 280 million year old gorge. In the evening, make a campfire and fall asleep under the stars listening to the river below.
The hike is steep and appropriate footwear is required. All hiking is at your own risk. Although your path to the waterfall is private and the waterfall is on private property, there may be other guests or locals that access the waterfall further down the road. There is no glass or alcohol allowed at the falls.
Be aware that you may hear your camping neighbors in the woods. For this reason, we ask that you don’t play amplified music and keep noise down after 10pm to enjoy the sounds of frogs, crickets, owls, and night songs of the countryside
At the entrance to the campsites there is a barn community room with a charging station, cold water sink, fridge, coffee maker, cookware, and a port-a-potty. There are 5 gallon solar shower bags that you can use at your campsite. You are responsible for filling them and putting them in the sun to heat the water.
This is a leave no trace site. Take all your trash with you when you leave. Bring your own biodegradable soap for dishes and toilet paper for the port-a-potty!
Firewood is available onsite for $1 per log.
The Schoharie Valley is said to be the most fertile valley east of the Mississippi. It is still wild, unspoiled country and there are many local farms stands with fresh produce and organic meat close by.
Within a 5 miles radius is a general store, Scrumpy Ewe Cidery, Panther Creek Arts, Rooted Movement, the Sap Bush Country Store and Café, and Mustang Valley (a wild mustang sanctuary). Nearby hikes include Looking Glass Pond and Vroman's Nose, and others.

2000 foot elevation in the Heldeberg Mountains.
500 million years ago during the Devonian Period this was a sea, so we live in shale based mountains with lots of fossils! The Heldebergs are one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, these mountains have been worn down to 2000 feet over time.
Native Americans lived in the area many years ago and we are quite sure this was Native American sacred ceremony land.
Hiking, canoeing, swimming and fishing (catch & release only) are available on site.
There are many places to hike in the area, an Eagle Trail
and in winter, 2 miles away, is a Nature Preserve that rents snowshoes and has

Spring, Summer and Fall are the best times to come for a visit. NOW is the time to book your experience with us. Enjoy rustic camping on our 115 acres of upstate NY forest. We are just a short drive to Cooperstown, the Baseball Hall of Fame and the summer baseball camps as well as the other museums that it has to offer. Howe Caverns in Cobleskill is also about 30 minutes away as well.
The property consists of a mixture of upland hardwoods (mainly Oak, Maple and Cherry) with scattered stands of Red Pine, White Spruce, Hemlock and two open fields/pastures. There are also the occasional conifers scattered about just to keep things interesting. The majority of the property is gently sloping from the South up towards the North. The is also a nice ridge on the NE corner of the property to aid in topographic diversity. One of the fields is a seven acre hay field and the other is a five acre food plot planted in clover, chicory and other grasses. This field has also been recently planted with Apples, Pear, American Plum, Red Osier Dogwood, Persimmon, Red Mulberry, Chinese Chestnut, and Hazelnuts. These are all young at this time but will start to provide diversity and wildlife interest in the coming years.
Wildlife abounds here at the homestead. Whitetail Deer and Eastern Wild Turkey are very common to see. We also have a variety of small animals as well such as Red and Grey Squirrels, Raccoons, Porcupine, Opossum, Fisher etc. For the birders, we have Barred and Great Horned Owls and Red Tailed Hawks. It is also not uncommon to see Bald Eagles soaring over the fields looking for their next meal.
All of the property is easily accessible via our extensive trail system. There is also another 187 acres that borders our land that also has trails that would allow hiking. We have detailed maps so that getting lost would be the least of your worries.

This land was once all pasture for grazing animals.
We moved to Delaware County in November 2018 to start our family and pursue dreams of working on the land. The initial idea was to find a place we could live, garden, and raise a few animals while hosting guests and sharing the land with visitors. When we found this place on Williams Road, we loved the mix of rural and proximity to a thriving country town. We now have two kids and enjoy living in Delhi so much we hardly leave the town limits! There are wonderful restaurants, a great year-round farmers market, grocery stores, and many other services and amenities you can find listed towards the end of this guide.
Our Catskill Mountain home is situated on a historic early 19th century farm site. Parts of the house might be more than 190 years old! With several additions and upgrades we think the house has lots of charm and enjoy the many modern touches. The property is overgrown pastures and a few steeper slopes with medium growth trees. After the industrial period saw this region nearly deforested, the land was granted to settlers who cleared fields and planted grass. Our immediate vicinity was knows for it’s cattle (Bovina), mostly for diary, and sheep. The agriculture in Delaware County has been on a decline since the advent of rail shipping opened New York City markets to farms in less challenging geographies. Construction of the NYC fresh water system (DEP Watershed) may have contributed to this decline, but about 60-70 years ago the majority of pastures, especially less productive parcels were abandoned to the “weed trees”. These first succession trees grew quickly in the sunny meadows and covered the hills; trees such as Ash, Hawthorn, and Norway Spruce. Fences and barns were left to return to the earth. On our property the stone walls that boarder the fields are the most stark reminder of the intensive agriculture practiced here.

Summer rentals: Firepit with s'mores essentials provided, 12 foot trampoline, 3 person hammock, outdoor seating, forest sky swing, flower and vegetable gardens, outdoor lawn games. Many upgrades are Coming new 2022, Air-conditioning and mini refrigerator.
**New addition to the property** You will be sharing the properties 4 acres with a Skoolie rental. It is quite far from the yurt and will not intrude on your privacy!
There is a dirt path back to the yurt. Most guests love the off road drive to our private parking area in the woods, including myself. There is plenty of off street parking. If you do not feel comfortable driving the dirt path back to the yurt, we have a cart for moving luggage and expect a 2-3 minute walk to get to the yurt. The path is not driveable once snow is on the ground.

When you book this yurt you will finally be able to unplug from electricity and Wi-Fi, relax and enjoy your more creative side. Musical instruments supplied(piano, drums, guitar, ukulele, etc.), as well as reading material, games, art and writing supplies. Relax and enjoy the yurts spacious 750sq feet.
Don't let the fun be contained to just inside the yurt, take a walk or snowshoe (2 pairs provided) along the wooded path, sit outside and drink your morning tea or coffee(provided) on the deck, patio, or picnic table. Take a night walk. Interact with the friendly chickens and the yurt farm cat. The nights can be enjoyed next to the huge fire pit out back, relaxing by the wood stove, or gazing at the stars on any clear night. The propane heated shower system is an outdoor shower in the summer and indoors in the winter.
Kids and kids at heart can enjoy the 10' enclosed trampoline right off the deck, forest sky swing right off the dirt path and 3 person hammock nestled in the woods. At the end of the day, climb into bed on organic cotton mattresses. A Berkey filtration system supplies your drinking water. An off-grid sink for light washing and cleaning. And a well with a hand pump for unlimited refilling, washing and cleaning, cooling down, or to use just for fun.
Winter rentals: There are two heating systems in the yurt. A propane heater to keep the chill off and a wood stove to get it toasty warm. Two pairs of snow shoes are provided. The path is drivable in winter but not in snow, so expect a 2 min walk from the car to the yurt if snow is on the ground.
Summer rentals: Firepit with s'mores essentials provided, 12 foot trampoline, 3 person hammock, outdoor seating, forest sky swing, flower and vegetable gardens, outdoor lawn games. Many upgrades are Coming new 2022, Air-conditioning and mini refrigerator.
**New addition to the property** You will be sharing the properties 4 acres with a Skoolie rental. It is quite far from the yurt and will not intrude on your privacy!
There is a dirt path back to the yurt. Most guests love the off road drive to our private parking area in the woods, including myself. There is plenty of off street parking. If you do not feel comfortable driving the dirt path back to the yurt, we have a cart for moving luggage and expect a 2-3 minute walk to get to the yurt. The path is not driveable once snow is on the ground.

PLEASE NOTE:
1) There is no cell service or Wifi at the cabin or in town of Andes. Wifi can be found in town at all of the local businesses, or in the neighboring towns of Margaretville and Delhi.
2) The location is private and quiet, but the cabin is located off of a shared driveway with the main house. We try to be as courteous with our driving as possible when campers are using the cabin, as we want you to have a wonderful stay!
3) FREEZING NOTICE: The outdoor rainwater shower will be shut off for the winter, but may be re-activated depending on periods of warm weather in late fall or early spring weather. There is NO POTABLE RUNNING WATER and all additional water must be brought in. A 2.5 gallon jug of fresh water will be provided for drinking, dish washing, brushing teeth, etc.

Come enjoy the peaceful country vibe at our small family "farmette". We have a beautiful private spot tucked away at the edge of the woods all set up just for you.
Our 4 acre property features chickens, ducks, a friendly barn cat, gardens, and an old farm house across the field. It is a very special and calm space in a rural town. Our family has been working to restore the farm house and develop a small farm. Adjacent to the property is a patch of woods where the campsite is nestled into. Campers have a private vintage camper along with a fire pit, hammock, and outdoor table and chairs.
We do have a farm stand in front of the house, which guests are welcome to shop. Products we sell include maple syrup, honey, coffee, wood crafts, handcrafted tea blends, fresh eggs, fresh veggies (in season) and other homemade goodies.
Enjoy the mountain views, fragrant wildflowers, crisp night sky, fireflies, calming sounds of nature, farm fresh offerings, and the many amenities and activities available in the area.

I had three perfect nights at Cotton Hill! The campsite had everything I needed, with many beautiful touches-- fresh flowers, s'more ingredients, cozy blankets, etc etc. I slept soundly on the comfortable bed, made simple delicious meals over the fire and the toilet was comfortable and clean! I walked around the property, swam in the pond, took day hikes, and did a tour of Hope Cavern. Mostly I stayed at the campsite soaking in the breeze and watching the clouds. The tent even withstood a sudden storm burst without a problem! Heidi was available if I needed, but I was content on my own the whole time. I highly recommend this peaceful and beautiful spot!

Wildflower cabin was the most beautiful setting for a peaceful romantic summer weekend. The cabin was spotless, well maintained and welcoming. The bed was super comfy and especially loved the mosquito net even though bugs were never an issue. The trail to the waterfall was exhilarating and well worth the effort to experience the most beautiful falls and swimming hole. This was an unforgettable experience and we will definitely be returning.

We had a great time at the cabin. Beautiful location, Alessandro and his wife were so nice and helpful. Grill available as well, so that was super helpful for making food. It's a shared driveway with the hosts but they are very lowkey and you hardly see them. We had some rain storms come through a few times and it was nice to be in a safe and sturdy cabin. Lots of airflow inside and we stayed nice and dry and no water came in. Highly recommend a visit.

The camping site at Locust Grove is magical. There were options to explore trails and the surrounding area, but we felt so comfortable and at peace right where we were we never left the site.
It is extremely pet friendly and our dog had the best time playing in the water!
The bed and linens were comfortable to sleep in,, as were the hammocks, and the outhouse was not at all inconvenient to use.
The site has electricity and cell phone service.
Monica has provided everything you need to have an amazing experience! We will be returning!

This was the perfect spot for our “down the road from home” getaway night! Listing descriptions of the cabin, amenities, and directions were clear and accurate. The cabin and campsite area were serenely simple, private, and comfortable making it easy to relax into “just being.” The most special part of this place is the access to the waterfall— as the listing makes clear, it’s definitely a steep deer trail that requires care on the part of the camper to hike down & back safely. As a Schoharie County local, the waterfall on the property is such a gem that we were so happy to have access to and to see taken care of well. Our only suggestion would be to remove the big rock wedged between trees in the middle of the trail headed down to the cabin for safety. Oh! And maybe a logbook for campers to sign. :) Thank you for having us & we hope to return soon! ~Mya & Jake

Absolutely my favorite Hipcamp I’ve been to. The cabin was super clean. The amenities (outlets, chairs, blankets, pillows, lamps, nightstands) in the cabin were luxurious. The screens of the windows and door were all well secured. The hike to the waterfall is steep but not difficult if careful!!! We loved every second and amy is a great host :)

Such a nice visit to The Sparrow House. It's incredibly peaceful. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen stocked with tools. The house has the most incredible wall paper I've ever seen. I'm inspired! The falls are not to be missed. My family and I brought wetsuits to brave the cold May water and it was great!!! The hummingbirds visited. I foraged for apple leaves and jewelweed. The fire and the sauna kept us nicy and cozy! Spectacular views and great communication.

We had such a wonderful stay at this little cabin on a farm ✨ We had a completely private area all to ourselves, with a little stream nearby that our daughter loved to play in.
Denise and Tom were wonderful hosts. They made sure everything we could possibly need was taken care of. We also arranged to have several meals there, and the farm fresh food was absolutely delicious, better than any restaurant in town.
We booked a farm tour, and Denise shared so much information with us. It was such an educational and meaningful experience. My daughter absolutely fell in love with the animals and spent so much time exploring and asking questions. Denise was incredibly patient and kind with her the entire time 🥹
The cabin itself was incredibly clean, charming, and cozy. We originally planned to camp in a tent outside, but ended up sleeping in the cabin the entire stay because it felt so warm and comfortable.
The setting was beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. We left feeling refreshed and so grateful for the experience. Such a special place for families looking to slow down, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a peaceful farm stay🫶🏼

We had a wonderful time camping on Amy's land. Everything was as described in the listing. There was a mix up where the campers before us went to the incorrect cabin and Amy was responsive and kind when sorting it out. The cabin was clean and smelled good, like fresh wood. We appreciated the carts supplied to help transport supplies to the site, and the cooking supplies supplied in the community room helped us out too. It rained one day which made it hard to cook outside but we were able to use the microwave to warm things and the coffee pot to heat up water. We also had a great hike at Vromans Nose which was 10 min away from the site. The trail to the waterfall is steep but the falls are worth the challenge. A local cutie pie kitty cat visited us when the weather was nice which was a joy. We are already looking into when we can come to the area next!
