Black Hole & Dunkley Falls campsite is located on an 80-acre old Adirondack farm. The Mill Creek runs along with this property, which features access to the scenic Dunkley Falls & The Black Hole — a cavernous geological anomaly. This famous swimming spot is a perfect place to test your nerve with a backflip off its 20 ft cliffs or just take a leisurely swim in the naturally formed glacier pool. Like to fish? The Mill Creek is also stocked annually with over 3000 brown & rainbow trout. All of this is just a short walk from our property. Onsite: Two Canvas Wall Tents (16ft X 14ft ) and Outhouse. Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley,. Hikers love it because it's a 25-minute walk to The Garden, one of the largest and most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks that has very little parking.

📍Located in the towns of Russell and Clare, New York, escape to 56 beautiful private acres, surrounded by towering pine trees, half a mile of private riverfront, a pond, field and trails to explore!
🌲Tucked in the backwoods down a private dirt road, you will find four small cabins, one large main cabin and a bathhouse. You will have private access to half a mile of the Grasse River! On most days you can hear the sound of the river from camp! Bring your fly fishing or spinning reel rods, picnic or just relax on the shoreline! There is a huge field next to the cabins, a nearby pond and private trails to explore!
| THE CABINS |
Main Cabin: One larger cabin, consisting of a living room, full kitchen (dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and toaster), laundry room with washer and dryer. Three bedrooms (2 king beds & 1 queen bed), two full bathrooms (one en-suite) with standup showers and one large bathtub. Two of the bedrooms have closets. The main cabin is not heated and space heaters will be provided during any colder months (Spring/Fall).
Mini Cabins: Four small log cabins spread out in a row, underneath a canopy of beautiful pine trees! The cabins are spaced far enough that there is enough privacy in-between each one. The cabins come equipped with power, WIFI, Roku TVs, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, screened-in porches, AC units, ceiling fans and outdoor water hookups. They each comfortably sleep between 2-3 adults. Cabins are not heated. Space heaters are provided during colder months (Spring/Fall).

| THE BATHHOUSE |
Across from the four smaller cabins is a bathhouse, featuring men's and women's sides. Each side has two bathroom stalls, one stand up shower and double sinks.
| THE GRASSE RIVER |
The Grasse River is a 73 mile-long river, mainly flowing northeast from the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains into the St. Lawrence Valley. Stocked with brown trout, native brook trout, smallmouth bass and rock bass.
Follow the trails from the campground to the river, where you can picnic, fish and relax!
*Swimming is at guests’ own risk. The river’s current depends on the season or how much rain the area has received. While exploring the banks of the river you will find faster and slower areas.*
| THE POND |
There is a private trail which leads to a small pond. The pond is perfect for exploring by canoe or kayak. There are a few channels which lead to other trails on the property.
*Several other properties have access to the pond. However, we have yet to see anyone else using the pond - it is very quiet! The pond is not meant for swimming*
| THE TRAILS |
There are multiple private trails leading to the river, into the woods and the pond. If you enjoy being in nature, these trails are truly lovely to walk/run/bike and enjoy! They are also extremely wide and well-groomed. We have added Adirondack chairs at certain end points.

A large field abuts the smaller cabins. Adirondack chairs have been placed around a large fire-pit in the field, perfect for hanging out with family and friends and enjoying some s’mores while stargazing!

Basic cookware (coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans and silverware) provided in the main house. All small cabins have coffee makers/mugs.
Four complimentary sets of golf clubs are available to use to play at the local courses. In addition, four tennis rackets are provided.
Exterior security cameras (filming and recording) are on the property, facing main entrance points, main cabin driveway and field.

We are excited to share the experience of what camping in this historic region of the Adirondacks is all about.
Black Hole & Dunkley Falls campsite is located on an 80-acre old Adirondack farm. The Mill Creek runs along with this property, which features access to the scenic Dunkley Falls & The Black Hole — a cavernous geological anomaly. This famous swimming spot is a perfect place to test your nerve with a backflip off its 20 ft cliffs or just take a leisurely swim in the naturally formed glacier pool. Like to fish? The Mill Creek is also stocked annually with over 3000 brown & rainbow trout. All of this is just a short walk from our property. Onsite: Two Canvas Wall Tents (16ft X 14ft ) and Outhouse. In addition to the Canvas Wall Tents, we have a canvas bell tent for rent for larger groups. You can reserve this by adding it as an extra when checking out with us here at Hipcamp.

Come stay in our 1880s vintage summer cottage, built as a studio by a Keene Valley artist on a secluded and elevated spot in the center of the Adirondacks' High Peaks. It has a gorgeous view of Giant, Hopkins and Spread Eagle mountains. The summer cottage overlooks a cliff and is a few hundred yards from the nearest house, a classic Adirondack camp that shares its driveway but can't be seen. Even so, it is within walking distance of the village of Keene Valley,. 🌲Tucked in the backwoods down a private dirt road, you will find four small cabins, one large main cabin and a bathhouse. You will have private access to half a mile of the Grasse River! On most days you can hear the sound of the river from camp! Bring your fly fishing or spinning reel rods, picnic or just relax on the shoreline! There is a huge field next to the cabins, a nearby pond and private trails to explore!
| THE CABINS |
Main Cabin: One larger cabin, consisting of a living room, full kitchen (dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and toaster), laundry room with washer and dryer. Three bedrooms (2 king beds & 1 queen bed), two full bathrooms (one en-suite) with standup showers and one large bathtub. Two of the bedrooms have closets. The main cabin is not heated and space heaters will be provided during any colder months (Spring/Fall).
Mini Cabins: Four small log cabins spread out in a row, underneath a canopy of beautiful pine trees! The cabins are spaced far enough that there is enough privacy in-between each one. The cabins come equipped with power, WIFI, Roku TVs, refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, screened-in porches, AC units, ceiling fans and outdoor water hookups. They each comfortably sleep between 2-3 adults. Cabins are not heated. Space heaters are provided during colder months (Spring/Fall).

| THE BATHHOUSE |
Across from the four smaller cabins is a bathhouse, featuring men's and women's sides. Each side has two bathroom stalls, one stand up shower and double sinks.
| THE GRASSE RIVER |
The Grasse River is a 73 mile-long river, mainly flowing northeast from the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains into the St. Lawrence Valley. Stocked with brown trout, native brook trout, smallmouth bass and rock bass.
Follow the trails from the campground to the river, where you can picnic, fish and relax!
*Swimming is at guests’ own risk. The river’s current depends on the season or how much rain the area has received. While exploring the banks of the river you will find faster and slower areas.*
| THE POND |
There is a private trail which leads to a small pond. The pond is perfect for exploring by canoe or kayak. There are a few channels which lead to other trails on the property.
*Several other properties have access to the pond. However, we have yet to see anyone else using the pond - it is very quiet! The pond is not meant for swimming*
| THE TRAILS |
There are multiple private trails leading to the river, into the woods and the pond. If you enjoy being in nature, these trails are truly lovely to walk/run/bike and enjoy! They are also extremely wide and well-groomed. We have added Adirondack chairs at certain end points.

A large field abuts the smaller cabins. Adirondack chairs have been placed around a large fire-pit in the field, perfect for hanging out with family and friends and enjoying some s’mores while stargazing!

We are not allowing the use of ATVs/Side-by-Sides or snowmobiles on the property (field, trails, etc.). There are many local trails nearby that you can easily ride to.
The property can comfortably sleep 16 adults, maximum occupancy allowed is 25 guests at any time on the premises.
Please confirm how many adults, children and pets will be staying in your initial reservation message.
Basic cookware (coffee maker, toaster, pots and pans and silverware) provided in the main house. All small cabins have coffee makers/mugs.
Four complimentary sets of golf clubs are available to use to play at the local courses. In addition, four tennis rackets are provided.
Exterior security cameras (filming and recording) are on the property, facing main entrance points, main cabin driveway and field.
*Please note: There is a sixth cabin set further back towards the front of the property (#61), this cabin is not for use. There are also a few odd structures in the woods on the property. These include an old school bus, outhouse and small shed. They are not for use and are more permanent fixtures…

Excellent stay! Beautiful spot, nice and quiet. We spent a decent amount of time just reading books with the windows open. Close to everything. Fire pit was nice, also had a charcoal grill you could use. Would love to stay again, highly recommend!

I loved staying here, waking up each morning to coffee and the view of the mountains was exactly what I was looking for. From the cabin I was able to walk to multiple trailheads and begin hiking. Not having to drive and find parking was a huge plus. And at the end of every night I had a warm fire in the fireplace going and slept perfectly. Id love to visit again!

The cabin was very comfortable, it had everything that I needed. The instructions on hipcamp were very clear and I had no trouble getting in. The host was responsive when I reached out. It was a great place! Definitely recommend.

Our family of six had the most amazing time camping at the Black Hole and Dunkley Falls campsite. The tents and accommodations were spotless, comfortable, and far exceeded our expectations. The Fords went above and beyond to make our stay special—bringing us warm water for showers and even surprising me with cupcakes for my birthday. They truly think of everything, making it a completely carefree glamping experience.
We loved exploring Dunkley Falls and jumping into the Black Hole, both just a short walk from camp. We also spent a day whitewater rafting and tackling the Adirondack Extreme Adventure Park—there’s so much to do in the area! We can’t wait to come

Weekend Trip to Karley's Cabin
We loved our stay at this little cabin. It is well equipped and cozy. We enjoyed nice nights on the porch with the chiminea, cooked out on the grill and used the fire place for chilly mornings. The kitchen is well equipped and once you get used to the rain water for cleaning and spring water for drinking and cooking it’s pretty straightforward. The canoe availability with all the accessories to load it on your car to explore local lakes and ponds is an amazing amenity. The location is also great to explore the Adirondacks. From there we were able to canoe and fish, hike the Paul Smith’s VIC, have nice meals and swim in Saranac Lake, Zip-line in Lake Placid and, of course, sample the daily ice cream flavor at Donnelly’s. All this in just 3 days with the cabin’s great location. We would definitely stay here again when back in the Adirondacks region.

Amazing! 100% recommend. My son and I went white water rafting nearby and found this amazing site for two nights of camping. Absolutely everything has been thought of and it is clear the owners have invested significantly in making this an idyllic spot. The kitchen area is fully stocked and the tents are extremely spacious. Being able to drive or walk down the road to the Black Hole was a highlight. The owners were kind and hospitable and I would recommend this to anyone. Perfect location for family or friends gathering.

Weekend Trip to Karley's Cabin
My husband and I had a great experience at The Cabin (Karley’s Cabin). It was really clean, cozy and relaxing. The location was perfect for Paul Smith’s Reunion, the day trips, and hikes we took. The outhouse was not an issue, clean, well lit, and close to cabin. If you camp or boat the water situation is easy, and there was a lot of potable water to drink and rain water for everything else. We look forward to visiting again.

Lovely clean and comfortable cabin, 15 min from Saranac Lake and 30 min from Lake Placid. Gracious and communicative hosts. This is the second year in a row that we have stayed here and hope to return again next year.
One note: The fridge is a large dorm-size fridge w/a tiny freezer section, so if you have ice packs you want to refreeze or keep frozen, you might want to grab a bag of ice to put in a cooler when you are near the cab

Everything you need is truly provided. Sue and Jim were great hosts making sure we stayed comfortable. Our two dogs loved running around the property. Sleeping in a canvas tent with a real mattress (king size) was awesome for my pregnant (3rd trimester) wife!

The cabin was a nice experience, roomy, and had everything needed. The screened in porch was great, gave us some shelter from the critters and the firepit helped as well! Kitchen area is very usable, one hotplate was handy but if you plan to do significant cooking bring a stove. Fit 4 people between the full bed, the futon, and the included cot. Firewood and eggs were a nice touch!

What a lovely cabin in a beautiful place! The cabin is so cozy with a wood-burning fireplace, images of the area's flowers and animals, a beautiful sitting porch, and quintessential Adirondack-themed decor. The surrounding grounds have a lovely little garden and lots of native plants to look at like slipper orchids, conifers, and bunchberry. It was so fun to sit out on the porch, listening to the birds and watching the red squirrels go by. There is also a lake very close to the cabin - we would walk down there to watch the ducks and dip our toes in the water. Christopher was very communicative and gave clear instructions for everything! We would certainly stay here again and left with many good memories!

4 nights at Karley's Cabin
I loved staying at Chris’s cabin. I had a relaxing weekend and felt really at home in the cabin.
Everything was exactly how he described. It rained a lot during my stay, so I spent a lot of time being cozy in the cabin.
I was able to stay warm with the wood stove and the little kitchen had everything I needed to make meals. The dry cabin experience was really fun and easy! The outhouse didn’t smell and was well lit at night.
I did some outings to the Wild Center and to some shops in Saranac (including visits to the Loon center and a tuberculosis museum).
I’m excited to stay again when the weather is a little warmer so I can take the canoe out!
