Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. Great swimming there, also! We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are near where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We have installed an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with a household type outlet, but no well. There is an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. Horses may be turned out in this field.

You have your choice of camping with your van or small RV, small trailer or tent, in a level, forested area (not lakeside) with picnic table and fire pit, or tenting lakeside with water views, picnic table and fire pit, or both! You have access to both, one reservation comes with both spots, so you can enjoy the lakeside regardless of where you sleep. Vehicles cannot reach the tent site, it is a steep trail about a 150 feet. Although our campsite is near the lake, you cannot drive to the water from the campsite. It is a steep, short hike down to the water. There is one canoe at the campsite you are free to use or bring your own canoes, kayaks and/ or paddle boards to enjoy the superb water. There are no motor boats on the lake, so the paddling and swimming is great. There are three private homes on the lake, adjacent to where your site it located so we ask that no loud partying, play music only quietly and no generators. There are no campers on either side of your campsite, we only offer one, campsite. There is a nice, clean outhouse and no other amenities (Tier D in HipCamp-speak). No on-site water but it can be obtained at our house, just ask. We have a dog on the property, who is friendly and off leash. If having a dog come visit would be a problem for you, please don't make a reservation. If you plan on bringing a dog please let us know. No more than two dogs allowed.

Both our road and driveway may become quite muddy especially during “mud season”, generally in the spring. We have three friendly dogs; Kai, Morgan and Gracie. Pond: Please do not attempt to enter or swim in the pond or walk on it when it appears to be frozen. Do feel free to enjoy the bench near the pond while taking in the peaceful mountainside location. Wild Animals: Please note that we live in nature. Our property is home to a variety of wild animals, including, but not limited to deer, turkey, fox, coyote and bear. Please do not approach any wild animals on the property or attempt to feed them. Please enjoy the wildlife from a safe distance.

Lori and Ray are the BEST hosts! The site is very well maintained, clean and spacious! Their driveway is wide enough to accommodate even a large motorhome. When you get here Lori and Ray will be there to welcome you and are a wealth of information to the area and all the things to see and do. The site is set up to easily reach everything from your water, power, sewer and trash. The property is very private but yet a stone throw from town and just a 30 min drive to Lake Placid, Plattsburgh etc and some of the best apple orchards in the United States! The views are stunning and hiking trails galore. If you come here expect to see lots of wildlife grazing nearby and the night sky is amazing. We spent a month here and we can’t wait to come back, Ray and Lori were the perfect hosts, friendly, accommodating, and just the nicest people ever. Every year this will be our “go to place” and our hidden gem to escape every day life. We can’t recommend enough! They get five star rating from us!

I stayed two nights while exploring the trails and really enjoyed the view over the field with their horses during the day and the stars at night were amazing. Lori and Roy were fantastic hosts at Adirondack Magic. Upon arrival, they were very welcoming, and walked me through all the steps to make my stay as enjoyable as possible. They also provided me with information on what events were going on in the surrounding area which made me feel very connected to the surrounding community. After introductions, they were very respectful of privacy, and only reached out if there were important updates to be shared. They're proximity to the main hiking areas is so ideal, and its such a short drive into town to stock up on supplies if need be (hardware store, groceries, gas ect.). Lori and Roy even arranged an outing with myself and fellow campers, and drove us to a local brewery to enjoy some local beer, pizza and live music. such a fun experience! hope to be back soon!

Weekend Trip to Maple Rock Hollow

We stayed at the Maple Rock Hallow Cabin during fall leaf foliage. The host Kathy was great! The cabin was easy to find, cozy and had all of the amenities we were looking for. The cabin is about 45 minutes to Stowe, which is where we wanted to explore. We did not have great cell service in the area, but we expected that. The cabin had streaming services on the TV. It was a perfect stay and we 100% recommend!

Beautiful and easy to find spot with basically everything you could need for a no frills glamping weekend and the outhouse is probably the nicest one I’ve ever been in. My dogs loved running around in the field and the inside of the tent was very spacious. Susan and Drew stopped by to introduce themselves and make sure we were all set for the weekend. The lean to was the kids favorite to hang out at, eat meals, etc. Water from a well was provided, water pressure wasn’t the best but just filled our white tank and used water pump, power was also provided. Either way, you will love the experience here as much as we do. Camp Forever is a very special 45 acre property, located within the Adirondack Blue Line. It has been in my family since the early 30's. My grandfather carved a small campground out of the woods that he ran from the early 70's until the mid-80's.
