We're a non profit community garden in the Old Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans on the West Bank of the Mississippi River, a 15 minute drive or ferry ride to the French Quarter. We use the money from these bookings to fund the community food access work that we do. While you're here you can enjoy our peaceful and spacious garden property, and we encourage you to get to know some of the fantastic neighbors who use our community fridge and herb garden.
Take the scenic Mississippi River Levee Path 1 mile to get to the Algiers Ferry dock which departs every 30 minutes and drops you off at the foot of Canal Street in the heart of New Orleans. If you have a car you can cross the bridge and get to most of the city in 15 minutes. You can also explore Algiers Point with its many restaurants, bars, local art and historic buildings. The levee trail is a block away, where you can jog, bike, or just watch the boats go by.
Property amenities include an open air bathroom and shower, communal screened porch with seating area, propane grill and various pots/pans, cooking gear and tableware, fridge, picnic tables and a small fire pit. There is an herb garden out front and there may be fruits and vegetables available for you, fresh from the garden, depending on the time of year.

This cozy fenced-in spot provides a place to plug in your RV and stay in the Big Easy in a safe, tucked away side yard just minutes from the Bywater, Marigny and French Quarter and a few blocks from the Mississippi River. You can drive, bike, or Uber to hundreds of bars and restaurants in less than 15 minutes.
Enjoy your morning coffee on the brick patio and feel free to use the fire pit (fall/winter only) and hammock! Please don't mind Poka, my old and gentle English Shepherd, who may wander around. The description says an acre because it is impossible to put in a smaller number, but the actual parking space is about 25 x 50 ft, with additional hangout space nearby.
I am right next door (on the other side of the fence) if you need anything and can help navigate entering and setting up and give you a key to lock the gate with.

This piece of campsite in the midst of a gardeb is beautiful as well as comfortable. We camped with a hatch tent attached to our SUV and the campsite was big enough for it. Facilities are clean and you wake up to the sound of birds. Though Mark was not on site during our stay, he was super responsive and helped answer all our questions. Would definitely come back.

We really enjoyed our stay at Pelican Gardens! The gardens were beautiful and we felt very at home in our van. The area was safe and about a 25 minute walk to the ferry which was convenient for us. Being from MN, we loved the weather and the enclosed outdoor shower. Would highly recommend!

I loved my stay at Kat’s little oasis in such a prime location, she went above and beyond during my stay. I am grateful for the time we got to chat, I found her easy to talk to, appreciated her knowledge on the area, local insight and community mindset.
Being at the 8 month mark of living in a camper, I can’t describe how incredible it was to have access to all the amenities!
Not to mention, she has a dog- what more could you ask for?
This was a mildly difficult space to get into as a truck and camper, granted- it was dark and I was by myself- but absolutely doable, and worth it.

Mark has cultivated a true gem of a space in Algier's Point. I stayed at the tent site for two weeks. It was most days only a 10 minute drive across the bridge for work in the NOLA CBD. I was surrounded by a living garden and it was fantastic. Mark is a lovely human, and it's reflected in his intentional community space. There was also a hot shower and a kitchen I could use.
I could not have stumbled upon a better place to be. Thank you, Mark. I'll be back.

The RV space was premo for my vehicle & gear; there was ample space to pitch a tent and beat the Nola heat. Mark communicated transparently about the space and made accessibility easy.
The semi-outdoor bathroom/shower was a nice touch - plenty of hot water with the on demand water heater.
Mark & co. were super friendly and gave a lot of insights into the little fabulous cultural tidbits that Nola is full of. Sunday brunch was so much fun!
Pelican gardens are such a beautiful forest of food and tropical plants 🌿 this was exactly the greenspace and vibe that I was seeking for camping, all while being a 20 minute walk to the Algiers ferry and close to the French Quarter & downtown. Riding the ferry daily and using the RTA Jazzy pass was a total breeze 🏖

I really enjoyed the site, Algiers is a very quiet neighborhood compared to New Orleans. The ferry comes every 30 mins and is about a 10 min boat ride to downtown. I flew in and took an Uber to the tent site with my gear, the porch area is great to chill on and I met a really nice guy woofing on the property. It’s pretty great!

We had an amazing time in New Orleans and it started with Kat's cozy campsite! We were amazed at the beauty of her plants surrounding the seating area. Very peaceful and conveniently close to a lot of the attractions. Already looking forward to staying there again! Had 30 amp electricity and water for our camper. Our camper measures roughly 22ft long by 9ft tall on the edges by 7ft wide for reference.

We booked this place as we wanted to be close to New Orleans but not pay New Orleans prices! This place is a hidden GEM! It's no resort but has full hookups and is located in a small fishing "village" just 28 miles east of New Orleans. Bradley was a gracious and thoughtful host and offered to move us to a bigger and more private spot (site 12) once we arrived. Unfortunately, we did not have time to take advantage of his fishing charters as he also offers fishing excursions from his boats located just across the street! We will back back!

Grand Isle is the only inhabited barrier island in Louisiana and has about 1,300 year-round residents. During my visit in early April I basically had my own private beach. This is because the island is actually a world class fishing and birding destination; not a beach destination. The campground is frequented by fishermen and fisherwomen.

It's the Gulf- keep that in mind and you'll have a great time. Definitely bring an arsenal of mosquito spray and keep your fire going for smoke protection. Also, be aware that the shrimp boats will make noise until about 3AM. Other than those two caveats, Grand Isle is a beautiful place- especially if you like to bird watch.
