Weekend Trip to White Mountains Dear Bear Campsite
This was an amazing getaway. The cabin had everything you could need. Craig and his family were really hospitable. Always kept great communication. The cabin is insulated and kept us warm throughout the night. Craig gave us extra blankets and was kind enough to set up the hot water shower for us. The instructions to get there were pretty exact. The location is amazing. 15 minutes to Franconia Notch. Quick 5 minute drive to downtown Littleton. Lots of options to eat there and Bethelem. (Try the skirt steak at El Mirador Restaurant or the Thai Donuts at Taste the Thai). A power generator is available in the cabin for charging your stuff as well.

Brookside Retreat was perfect for our family weekend getaway. All we brought was our clothes, personal items & food, everything else was provided. Kevin & Alicia were attentive and quick to respond to any questions we had. They are gracious hosts. The beds are very comfortable and it was a great set-up. I would stay here again and will be recommending it to our friends & family!

2 nights at White Mountains Dear Bear Campsite
The cabin had everything I needed. It was a comfortable bed in a solid little shed. The property was nice, though the outdoor spaces could have used some organizing/feng shui. I would not want to stay here to spend quality time on the property, but as a home base for hiking and checking out surrounding areas, it worked great!

My family of 4 and friend’s family of 3 took our annual camping trip at the Brookside retreat! Had a great time, everything needed was provided (super convenient), tents and beds were comfortable, and sound of the brook soothing! All in all, adults and kids alike had a wonderful weekend!

Craig was an extremely responsive host...often responding in a few minutes. He stopped by for a bike ride and to show me around the campsite. We stayed in what was a storage shed outfitted with beds, chairs, solar USB charger, a dresser and a 5 gal. water cooler. It was hot and stuffy in there, but we brought a battery powered fan which kept us cool. The shed was extremely clean. We used the composting toilet, which worked fine. There are picnic tables, a fire ring and a fire pit. There is also a gas grill that we did not use.
Campsite is a 15 minute drive from Franconia Notch State Park and 5 minutes from downtown Littleton, which has plenty of eateries, a movie theatre and retail stores.

Kevin and Alicia were great hosts, very responsive. The site was beautiful and had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend. We traveled with our 3 year old, who was thrilled to see a couple of swings set up on the property. The tents and beds were very comfortable.

Weekend Trip to White Mountains Dear Bear Campsite
Craig was a wonderful host. He met me when I arrived and showed me around, and then let me keep to myself for my stay. I stayed in the cabin, and it had good amenities. It was a very quiet peaceful place to stay, and I got to see lots of wild turkey which was fun. I plan on returning if I stay in this area again in the future. Thanks Craig!

Weekend Trip to White Mountains Dear Bear Campsite
I love staying in the shed on Craig’s land. It’s very cute and cozy! It was super cold, but the propane heater kept me warm. I feel like I would have enjoyed myself a lot more, if it was warmer outside, I could’ve used the outdoor shower. I would definitely stay again! But it really is a great location. Three minutes from downtown Littleton and within half an hour to the Franconia notch and Crawford Notch.

Where to go
Lake Winnipesaukee
The state’s largest lake, Lake Winnipesaukee is the focal point of the Lakes Region. Activities on offer include boating and waterskiing in the summer and ice fishing and skating in the winter. Ellacoya State Park’s campground, on the lake’s southwest shore, is a good place to base yourself.
Castle in the Clouds
Just 25 minutes northeast of Meredith, in the Ossipee Mountains of Moultonborough, the sprawling conservation area known as Castle in the Clouds is packed full of trails, waterfalls, and viewpoints that take in Lake Winnipesaukee and the surrounding mountains. The “castle” that the area is named for is Lucknow, an early 20th-century mansion.
Gunstock Mountain
Heading 30 minutes south, Gunstock Mountain offers year-round activities, from cross-country skiing, tubing, and snowshoeing in winter to ziplining, hiking, biking, and tackling a treetop obstacle course in summer.
When to go
Meredith is an all-season destination. Its lakeside opportunities and nearby Weirs Beach makes summer the most popular season. Fall, however, is very attractive as it brings spectacular foliage scenery. The winter is also great for snow sports enthusiasts who can go skiing on Gunstock Mountain and in the White Mountain National Forest. While spring can be wet, it is relatively crowd-free.
