I am developing a garden of dyeing flowers, as well. Art classes and materials are available, for pottery [ beginner to advanced.] as well as sketching, fabric dyeing, plen air, or making mandalas. I do have leather tools, sewing machines, and stained glass. Bring your project or try a new one. Lots of space in the common barn area for group lesson, or set up a spot and enjoy all by yourself! Cabot has lots to offer for day trips, be it water sports, rail trail on bikes or walking, music, and cultural events, or purchasing fresh milk, beef, eggs, apples, cheese, or homemade breads, all from Cabot. Contra Dance, music from Cabot Arts, or at the Den our local pub, are 2 miles away. The Bread and Puppet, Highland Center for the Arts, Barre Oprah house, art galleries, etc within an hour drive in any direction. A great place for children, I have swings and trees to climb, games, archaeological digs, scavenger hunts finding 10 different antique farm implements, and learning how they were used, to learning about mini microbe's and how to be friends with pollinators. Massage including scar release, and MPS, Cranial Release, energy work with tuning forks and singing bowls are available. Singing bowl concert in the gardens can also happen! Expect the unexpected! Whether you’re seeking relaxation or adventure, Mount Snow Yurt provides all the amenities needed for a truly memorable stay. The yurt features a full kitchen with an island, dining table, cookware, utensils, refrigerator with an icemaker, dishwasher, electric stove, microwave, multicooker/rice maker, and a Nespresso coffee machine! You’ll have everything you need to carry out your morning and evening routines, as well as wine glasses for your wine and cheese afternoon happy hour! With respect to design, the Mount Snow Cabin / Yurt has a loft with a pool table, a living area with an open floor plan and vaulted ceilings, windows with expansive views, and a glass dome. For your convenience, a washer/dryer combo unit is situated on the main floor. The spacious deck features a picnic table, gas grill pre-filled with propane, and a sunken 7-person hot tub. The outdoor area also boasts a fire pit, cornhole game, and archery stand. All amenities, including the Lever 2 EV charging and a 40-pound traditional Kainokai recurve longbow with arrows for archery practice, are free to use. Mount Snow Cabin / Yurt is best suited to accommodate four (4) people, with two (2) bedrooms featuring queen-size beds. The property can, however, sleep up to eight (8) people thanks to a king-size sleeper sofa in the loft (classified as a bedroom due to a privacy screen) and a spacious sleeper couch in the sitting area. For your convenience, linens, sleeping eye masks, earplugs, an iron, and umbrellas are all provided.

My husband and I had a memorable time at Chapin’s place. He has an incredible set up. The tent was roomy and everything inside was practical. It was stocked with plenty of wood for the fire pits and chiminea. We were able to cook breakfast and eat out on the picnic table. The hot tub was a welcome treat after spending hours hiking and swimming. The swim holes and waterfalls were beautiful and the water. Was crystal clear. Even the privy had a view! We have stayed at several Hipcamp places, and this is our favorite. We will be back!

May have been my favorite hipcamp ever. The green mountains of Vermont provide everything you could want, while the hosts provided everything you could need. Even wifi for my friend who needed to work/check emails. Hosts were prompt, professional (even with last minute booking). 10/10

A lovely little camp... with a hot tub! I was very relieved to find the tent had air conditioning. It's cute spot in the heart of Athens. You don't have to go far to find weekend adventures. Marsha was a very kind host, she was very timely in responding to messages and she made sure all campers felt comfortable during their stay.

I booked this vacation in March and basically forgot about it until it was time to venture up to VT. We were blown away by the zip line, private swimming hole and all the thoughtful touches put in by Chapin and his family. Our dog LOVED being off leash to explore the hollow and surrounding areas, and it was private enough to not be worried about bothering anyone. The hot tub was a nice touch, despite us visiting during a heat wave the temps got low enough at night and in the morning to use it! When it got too hot midday, we'd cool off in the swimming hole. It was perfect. Having a queen sized bed to fall asleep on was amazing. We woke up to thunderstorms and torrential downpours the first night but stayed completely dry in the tent. The rushing water is like white noise which helped my daughter sleep later so I got some time to myself in the mornings. Also probably because of the excessive heat - at certain angles on hot days you can really smell the privy as you walk from the water up to the tent. We're already planning a return trip!

Wow. What a special place to stay. Chapin’s land is located on a mountainside with a beautiful brook running though it. This is the perfect place to disconnect. You won’t have service either way! There are hammocks to lounge, a zip line, multiple fire pits on the premise, and hidden swim spots along the brook for those willing to venture. The heavy canvas tent has a cozy bed along with a couple tables, candles, and lantern. My dogs loved hunting for rocks and swimming in the brook while we sat by the brook. The hike to the top of the property was worth it, because you’ll find a trove of views and hidden swim spots along the way. My only regret was not staying long enough to use the hot tub! Thank you for the great experience Chapin. We’ll be back.

Weekend Trip to Mead Hill at Mount Cabot Maple

I really enjoyed my stay. The place felt so peaceful and relaxing, and the mountain views were beautiful. I also liked the toilet setup. The only downside was that I couldn’t figure out how to use the shower properly—it always gave me hot water, and it was too hot. Even so, I still had a great time. I especially loved the skylight window; it was a really nice touch.

Weekend Trip to Abbott's Vermont luxury glamping

Luxury glamping is right! The property is impeccably kept, the greenery lush and serene, and the stars shining overhead made me gasp at how bright and clear they were each night. The camping van is cute and comfortable, and we ate our meals at the picnic table, which was especially fun in the dark with the string lights turned on. Lindy and Amy were so kind and welcoming, and their dog (Tito!) always greeted us with a wagging tail and a desire for pets. They made us feel comfortable as we got our first taste of naturist life with a pleasant (and cold) skinny dip in the river. We even had a chance to meet some good friends of theirs, and got to share stories and laughter around the campfire. Between the hushed walk through the woods to the river and the lovely gardens and tall greenery, it was easy to relax, a world away from the bustle of traffic and regular life. A must visit!

The tiny home / cabin was just perfect. It was on the property of the host's house, but felt very private. Roomier than I even expected, super comfortable, and well built / insulated as there was a pretty big storm the night we stayed and nothing leaked. Well-maintained and thoughtfully done.

Everything was as advertised or better! The Safari Tent site is very private and quiet. The “loo” is sparkling clean and the site was very well equipped. I would stay there again in a heartbeat! The hot shower near the hot tub was LEGITIMATELY HOT and the hot tub was clean with a great view of the pond.

Weekend Trip to Tidy Treehouse

Rebecca and Greg are literally the most thoughtful hosts I have ever had! They went far out of their way to make us comfortable on multiple levels. First, they allowed us to use their separate airbnb apartment’s bathroom/space when I let them know I’d recently had knee surgery. They also offered use of an additional mini-fridge since we were planning to use their grill each evening, and even gifted a little kit of sauces/spices. They even recommended several cute local beaches for us to explore. The space was clean and very comfy, had all the linens & cooking/dining items we needed, and the hot-tub was a nice perk. We will definitely be back, and would recommend them to anyone.

The sight had the most serene view of a waterfall. It was a very large & private area that included everything needed for a wonderful camping experience. The hosts also provided so many so many little accessories ie inflatable tubes, dog line, rain ponchos, fire lighters etc. this site provided a wonderful camping experience without doing all the work.

Where to go

Acadia National Park, Maine

Majestic trees meet Atlantic waters in Acadia National Park, a family-friendly nature getaway for campers of all stripes. From Hull’s Cove Visitor Center, you can take the park’s scenic drive to Sand Beach for a swim. Hikers can then enjoy the trek to Otter Point, which provides stunning views of the coastline, or take the Cadillac Mountain Loop hike. In addition to hiking trails, the park has numerous campsites and campgrounds available.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

A great place for quiet beach camping, Cape Cod has options with rv sites, cabins, family camping and everything in between. Far from the bustle of Boston, you can find bike and kayak rentals along the cape, with some good options in Provincetown. Cape Cod National Seashore is a haven for adventure and play, and there are a few state parks with pristine beaches, including South Cape Beach State Park and Scusset Beach State Reservation.

Green Mountain National Forest, Vermont

Vermont’s Green Mountains are the perfect place to adventure any time of year, but in the warmer months, you can enjoy full service family campgrounds as well as tent sites. Granville State Forest has biking trails, while Savoy Mountain State Park has multiple camping spots and a lake for canoeing. The Appalachian Trail also stretches through a section of the Green Mountains, intersecting with Long Trail, if you’re feeling extra adventurous.

When to go

New England’s winter’s are famously harsh, so you’ll want to keep tent camping between May and October. Note that crowds will die down significantly once kids go back to school in early September, so keep in mind that you may have a better time (and a peek at some changing leaves) if you choose to camp in early fall.
