Resting in the foothills of the sapphire mountains, just outside the town of Stevensville Montana, this beautiful 20 acre property is conveniently located halfway between Hamilton and Missoula; it is also a good midway point between Yellowstone and Glacier national parks. The outdoor activities are endless. Biking, hiking, fishing, swimming, hunting, trail riding, snow skiing and more are all within reach. Deer, turkey, osprey, killdeer, nighthawks, and eagles frequent the property as well as the occasional elk herd; and the Lee Metcalf wildlife refuge is about 15 minutes away.
The property sits about 400’ above the valley floor; giving spectacular panoramic views of the bitterroot valley and mountains, as well as incredible sunsets.
The paved road ends about 1 mile before the property, the remaining mile is a gravel road. There is also a one lane bridge right before you get to the property. Firewood is available for use at no charge. Sewer hookup has not been run to the site yet but if you have a portable tank, or want to pull the camper over to the house, it can be dumped as needed beside the garage; just ask and I can show you where the pipe is. There is a nema 14-50 hookup providing 50 amp power at the site; if needed I do have a 50 to 30 amp adapter you can borrow during your stay. Water hookup is also available at the site, but may be limited in freezing weather. If temperatures are to cold we can turn on the water to fill your tank as needed and then blow the line back out. If you need to borrow a potable water hose let me know as i keep those in the garage unless needed. There is a non-potable water hose that is available at the site, with a spray nozzle, incase you need to rinse or wash off gear, vehicles, etc. SpaceX Starlink high speed internet is available via WiFi. You can also charge your electric vehicle, if needed, with the power at the campsite or I have another nema 14-50 plug available at the garage of the main house. Be sure to let me know if you will need the plug at the garage so I can make sure it is accessible. If you have other questions feel free to contact me and I will do my best to answer them.

We are 20 miles east of Missoula, MT near the Kettlehouse Ampitheater in Bonner. Our location is halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Park. There are mountain bike paths, river access points for paddling, rafting or fishing within minutes of our land. We can even help you know where to go. Our land is surrounded by Nature Conservancy land with a public recreation easement, so you can hike and take your horse for a ride very easily, just let us know and we will point you in the right direction.
Our child had a significant medical emergency that required a lot of travel to Seattle Children's and 4 brain surgeries recently, so we are just getting the garden back up and running and the sheep are happy. Unfortunately no chickens this year.
In a vehicle, you can pull into one of our pastures for your stay. Where you are depends on which field the sheep are eating! Tents also work in the field. We do not have any hookups, but there is potable water in the blue hydrant by the yellow tube. The fields are that - pasture fields. There are quiet neighbors across the fence who now have goats on one side. We are happy to offer advice about local attractions via messaging.

Nestled on 60 acres you'll find a private campground in a cottonwood grove just across a log bridge over Miner creek. Across the gravel driveway you'll find a second campground that is tucked back in a secluded cottonwood grove, and further down the driveway, you'll find the 3rd campsite. The campgrounds are 5 minutes to the charming historic downtown of Livingston and the Yellowstone River, 20 minutes to Bozeman, 20 mins to Pine Creek Lodge and an hour to Yellowstone National Park. Dogs are welcome, as long as they are friendly to other dogs. Our dogs freely roam the property.
*All sites share an outhouse located in the parking area by the trail to camp #2. It is only onsite from mid-May to end of September.
#1: "Creekside Oasis" campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, a hammock, solar lighting, and a small portable charcoal grill. Although you can car camp at # 1, please note that the camper spot is just off the gravel driveway, and not across the creek where the tent site, picnic table and fire pit are located.
#2: "Off the Beaten Path" campsite requires a short 1-2 minute walk on a tight, uneven path through the trees. It is a small campsite with a fire ring, 2 camp chairs, hammock, and solar lighting. Do NOT rent this tent site if you need to be close to your car. This site is not on the creek. Creek access is down a trail to the left off the parking area.
#3: "Not for the Faint of Heart" campsite is a 1-2 minute walk from the parking spot on an uneven, tight trail through the trees. It has a fire ring, two camp chairs, solar lighting, hammock, and a small portable grill. Do NOT rent this tent site unless you are ready to explore and do not need to be close to your car. The creek is not right by the tent site like it is in campsite #1. There is a small break in the bushes that gives creek access. This site is bigger than #2.
*NO Car camping is allowed at site 2 or 3.
For all sites:
* Quiet hours from 10pm-8am.
*No parties.
*We recommend you arrive before dark, although the trails are lit by solar lights even with headlamps it can be tricky to find your way thru the trees to camps 2 & 3. Closed-toed shoes are highly recommended for the trails.

Perched above Hauser Lake with wide-open big-sky views, Hilltop Camp is where you come to actually see the stars again. No crowds — just a small family farm, and sky that goes on forever after sundown.
We're a small family farm outside Helena, and staying here means you're part of the rhythm for a night or two. Fresh eggs from our hens are usually available for purchase (ask when you book), and you'll likely hear our rooster and guinea fowl greeting the morning. Early risers, all of them, and part of the charm if you're the kind of camper who loves waking up somewhere alive.
A few honest notes up front: the property has a rolling hill. Most sites have some natural slope, please bring leveling blocks if you're in a rig, and expect a bit of that "real land, not a paved pad" character. We are working to level sites as we can. What you get in return is a private, unhurried spot with sunset and sunrise views most campgrounds can't touch, and some of the best stargazing in the Helena Valley.
We live on the property year-round, so you're never staying somewhere unattended. Please text or call anytime and we typically respond within the hour. Good cell signal throughout, clear directions to each site, and we're always around if you need anything.
Four sites to choose from, each with its own personality. We have one site with electricity, and three dry camping sites. Hauser Lake is a short drive away for fishing and boating, and Helena's shops and restaurants are close enough for a supply run without losing that "middle of nowhere" feeling.
Getting here: There is a hill up to the property, and it can be slick after rain or snow. In wet or winter weather, 4WD or AWD is strongly recommended. If you’re driving a 2WD vehicle, please check the forecast and message us before you come. We do have equipment to keep the roads open and driveable.
Winter season (November 1 to May 1): Sites #2, #3, and #4 are closed. Site #1 stays open with electricity. Water and portable toilets are not available in winter, and there is no sewer hookup, so you must be fully self-contained.
Please keep in touch: Send us a quick text when you arrive and when you leave, even if you leave early. Weather here can change fast, and we like to know everyone is safe. If we don’t hear from you by checkout time, we’ll assume your site is vacated.

Located next to the beautiful Mission Mountain range, on a well kept 10 acres we had the most peaceful camping experience! Our host was very helpful. We enjoyed the yearling cows and Roy the friendly horse that came by to check us out. We’d love to come again some day! Thank you so much!

Great campground with helpfull staff. Nice big tent site for our 8x13 canvas tent. Great firepits for cooking. Very nice sound from the creek next to our tent for ambience. We loved it here. Will be coming back in the future.

Molly and Michael run an amazing site. The family was very warm and welcoming, and the site was even better than described. We had ample fire wood for the fire pit, enjoyed the grill, and spent plenty of time enjoying the views. As a bonus, we got regular visits from their lab, Lou.
I highly recommend for friends, couples or families.

I really enjoyed my stay here! The property felt super private and peaceful, with open fields and really pretty mountain views. There was only one other site occupied for a night while I was there, so it never felt crowded at all.
I originally booked a different site but ended up switching to Barn Site 1 for the power hookup, and I’m glad I did. It had both water and power and was extremely easy to back into, even with my 30-foot camper. The land does have a slight downhill slope, but I was still able to get my camper leveled without trouble.
Julie and her daughter were both incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The location was also perfect, close enough to town that everything I needed was nearby, and there was a dump station less than 10 minutes away, but the property itself still felt quiet and tucked away.
I would absolutely stay here again!

The spot was exactly as described, and the host was incredibly responsive, including having someone meet me and guide me right to the site. The privacy, quiet, and sense of safety were everything I had hoped for, and the full moon was spectacular. Highly recommend, especially if you’re heading to or coming back from GNP - it’s the perfect spot just outside the mountains to pause before whatever comes next. Looking forward to my next stay...

Conveniently located off the highway. Spectacular views. Great pad for RV parking. Porta potty was clean and conveniently located. We slept well, but light sleepers should be aware that there was some noise from trains during the night. We enjoyed the dogs, as well as touring the flower gardens.

Where to go
Glacier Country
Northwestern Montana's Glacier Country is characterized by massive forests, craggy peaks, and long expanses of wilderness, with plenty of wildlife to boot. It's also home to Glacier National Park, where you'll find hundreds of miles of hiking trails along with tons of developed and backcountry camping options.
Southwest Montana
In the heart of Montana's Big Sky country, just west of Yellowstone National Park, this region is characterized by cute towns (notably Butte and Helena), historic ghost towns (a remnant of the region's historic mining industry), and relaxing hot springs. Popular camping areas include Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park and Bannack State Park.
Yellowstone Country
If you're headed to Yellowstone Country, it's likely with a visit to Yellowstone National Park in mind, but there's plenty more to do in the region, from hiking the Lake Fork Trail to checking out the restaurant and brewery scene in Bozeman. Yellowstone itself is, of course, a must-visit, but if you can’t find camping in the massive—and ever so popular—national park, you may have better luck snagging something in Custer Gallatin National Forest.
Central Montana
Central Montana offers all sorts of opportunities for outdoor recreation, rain or shine. Summer activities include fishing, horseback riding, and camping, while spots such as Showdown Mountain, Teton Pass Ski Resort, and Bear Paw Ski Bowl offer skiing and snowboarding. The region also has plenty of state parks, including Sluice Boxes State Park, Giant Springs State Park, and First Peoples Buffalo State Park.
Eastern Montana
Vast and expansive, eastern Montana features sparse landscapes dotted with the occasional herd of cattle, and plenty of room to get out and explore. You can take in views of the Badlands from Makoshika State Park or the Badlands Wilderness Study Area, or camp under the open sky in the expansive Custer National Forest. If you'd like to get out on the water, the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is the place to go, with boat rentals available.
