One thing about this area that really strikes me is the gorgeous Ear Mountain. It hovers with the rest of the Rocky Mountain Front making a beautiful back drop for the quaint town of Choteau.
We are located 90 miles from St. Mary’s in Glacier park. If you are looking to go to Glacier we are an excellent spot to stay and rest on your journey.
The town of Choteau has several restaurants, gas stations with propane, a drug store and Rex’s grocery. If you feel like walking downtown, you’ll see the historic buildings like the Courthouse built in 1906.

We have an abundance of wildlife that visits the property including deer, elk, moose, the occasional bear, fox, owls, turkeys, quail and birds. We have a flourishing garden and chickens on the property as well and will be adding a greenhouse and farmstand to offer our goods in the near future.
Attractions near us include just about anything you want to do outside: numerous hiking trails, atv riding from the property, Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge, 50 mile Bitterroot Trail walk/bike path, Fort Owen State Park, golfing, Bitterroot River for fishing, swimming and boating. Explore the historic town of Stevensville where you can visit St Mary's Mission, multiple restaurants, coffee shops, farmers market on Saturday’s, antique stores, soda fountain at the local drug store and many other unique and fun shops.

Lakeshore Cabins and Campground (established as Lake Shore Lodge) first opened its gates under the original owners, ES and Helyn Carroll, in 1971. Linn and Kevin Krieg, ranchers in the Madison Valley, bought Lakeshore in 1981, and their family retains ownership today.
In the early days, Lakeshore felt hidden away: a short drive down a dirt road, tucked away in a stand of mature cottonwood trees. Lakeshore soon became a family summer retreat where guests returned year after year. The seclusion and shade of the cottonwood trees, the proximity to Bozeman and Yellowstone National Park, and the extraordinary outdoor sporting opportunities made Lakeshore a perfect getaway—not too far away but far enough to escape and enjoy the beauty of the Madison Valley.
In October 2022, Lakeshore closed for property-wide renovations. It reopened in July 2024 with updated utilities, beautifully appointed cabins, and a new General Store.
We remain the only lakefront RV campground with mature trees, plentiful shade, a private marina, and the finest guest cabins on the lake. Lakeshore Cabins and Campground, as it was in the early days, is a perfect getaway—not too far away but far enough to escape.

Zoo Town Surfers is a small, family-owned rafting company located on the beautiful Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork River. Similar to a farm stay, this is a living, breathing rafting company.
We employ professional guides, several of whom also live or camp on-site. Every Thursday, we host a community paddle through the Alberton Gorge that brings together 20–30 members of the local kayaking community. We are a hub for paddlers of all kinds!
The campsite overlooks the Alberton Gorge and faces a bald eagle nesting area and Roller Coaster Rapid, where you can watch paddlers and commercial rafting trips pass by while enjoying the relaxing, endless river waves. The site is flat, can accommodate large RVs, and includes water and electric hookups. We do not offer sewer hookups, but there is a dump station just a few miles down the road.

We had a great time here. Check in took 3 seconds. The view was absolutely gorgeous. They had bathrooms with showers, a laundry room and a general store. It was clean and well kept. We had a nice cookout on our picnic table. Oh and my boyfriend had a moment with a teen elk. Elk are literally on the property. Which is cute but was nerve wracking coming back late from bar. NOT A COMPLAINT THO.

This was my first time staying in an RV park and it went well. All of the items that they stocked were reasonably priced, especially the beer.
The hosts are pleasant and interactive.
Facilities were in excellent condition and you can tell they pride themselves in the cleanliness.
The restaurant the Continental divide just a stone stowaway as excellent cuisine!

Very nice rv park close to plenty of restaurants, gas stations and a grocery store. All of the employees we encountered were super friendly and helpful. I originally booked for 2 nights and needed to extend my stay an extra night, they were able to accommodate that with no issues. The spaces were very well maintained. Nice little area for our fur baby to run off some energy. The park was pretty full all three nights we stayed, but noise was never an issue. Everyone remained quiet and respectful. Our neighbors were friendly as well. Would definitely stay again if back in the area.

Coming from another HipCamp that was a very difficult experience for us, this one was a complete and total delight in so many ways. We did a video of this review of this location on our channel. You can watch it at Mile High Beach on You Tube and InstaGram.
Here is what worked for us:
• Awesome basecamp location for Glacier National Park and the surrounding cities (Kallispell, WhiteFish, Columbia Falls & BigFork)
• Great communication with the Host (ahead of our visit, and while we were there for fire bans, etc..)
• Incredibly thoughtful layout, amenities (bbqs, shower room, WIFI, community pit, wildflowers)
Here are the things that did not work:
• While big rig friendly, some tight turns for a rig our size
• Long drive from East entrances to Glacier National Park
• Road Noise (not really a challenge for us, but for some people this might be an issue)
• No shade for the RV spot.
We’d love to see options for at least a few other RVs, so we could be friends!
We would absolutely come back to this spot again!

This was one of my favorite stays, and I want to return!
The owners were super friendly, and the place had so many fun things to do! We went rockhounding at two places nearby: Crystal Park, and a sapphire mine! They were both a lot of fun!
The campgrounds has a nice water area to sit in to beat the heat of Summer. They also have a nice lodge with lots of room in the lodge to play games and relax.
The bathrooms with showers were very clean as well.
Just a great place to stay, year-round!

We had an amazing time and the host were exceptional. The camp ground was extremely well kept. They had a recreation room, a full community kitchen, Coffee in the morning, lounging in the river, and great information about the surrounding area. This would be a great place to stay if you like to hunt or fish in the area come winter with resources nearby. It was also a great area for rock hounding for those that want to play in the dirt nearby. We would highly recommend this place to any of our closest friends.

In the heart of Montana's Big Sky country, just west of Yellowstone National Park, this region is characterized by cute towns (notably Butte and Helena), historic ghost towns (a remnant of the region's historic mining industry), and relaxing hot springs. Popular camping areas include Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park and Bannack State Park.
Yellowstone Country
If you're headed to Yellowstone Country, it's likely with a visit to Yellowstone National Park in mind, but there's plenty more to do in the region, from hiking the Lake Fork Trail to checking out the restaurant and brewery scene in Bozeman. Yellowstone itself is, of course, a must-visit, but if you can’t find camping in the massive—and ever so popular—national park, you may have better luck snagging something in Custer Gallatin National Forest.
Central Montana
Central Montana offers all sorts of opportunities for outdoor recreation, rain or shine. Summer activities include fishing, horseback riding, and camping, while spots such as Showdown Mountain, Teton Pass Ski Resort, and Bear Paw Ski Bowl offer skiing and snowboarding. The region also has plenty of state parks, including Sluice Boxes State Park, Giant Springs State Park, and First Peoples Buffalo State Park.
Eastern Montana
Vast and expansive, eastern Montana features sparse landscapes dotted with the occasional herd of cattle, and plenty of room to get out and explore. You can take in views of the Badlands from Makoshika State Park or the Badlands Wilderness Study Area, or camp under the open sky in the expansive Custer National Forest. If you'd like to get out on the water, the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is the place to go, with boat rentals available.
