The Mooseshroom is an awesome camping community that is just 7 miles from the west side of Glacier National Park. Community fire pits near the Commons are a short walk from whichever tent spot guests are assigned. The Commons also houses the bathrooms and inside/outside kitchen areas. There is plenty of seating, hammocks and picnic tables for guests to use as well. We also have two yurts available for booking on our property. The Mooseshroom is a licensed business that is limited to hosting 18 guests per night. Guests should expect a quiet, peaceful camping experience with plenty of room to enjoy their surroundings. ***This property is adjacent Highway 2 and there is a fair amount of road noise. There's also a train that's fairly close. The noise kinda comes with the territory, guests are also 10 minutes from the west entrance to the park. The noise does tend to subside considerably at night, but for those bothered by this type of noise, you might consider an alternate location. Most guests are truly fine with it.

Lakeshore Cabins and Campground (established as Lake Shore Lodge) first opened its gates under the original owners, ES and Helyn Carroll, in 1971. Linn and Kevin Krieg, ranchers in the Madison Valley, bought Lakeshore in 1981, and their family retains ownership today. In the early days, Lakeshore felt hidden away: a short drive down a dirt road, tucked away in a stand of mature cottonwood trees. Lakeshore soon became a family summer retreat where guests returned year after year. The seclusion and shade of the cottonwood trees, the proximity to Bozeman and Yellowstone National Park, and the extraordinary outdoor sporting opportunities made Lakeshore a perfect getaway—not too far away but far enough to escape and enjoy the beauty of the Madison Valley. One thing about this area that really strikes me is the gorgeous Ear Mountain. It hovers with the rest of the Rocky Mountain Front making a beautiful back drop for the quaint town of Choteau. We are located 90 miles from St. Mary’s in Glacier park. If you are looking to go to Glacier we are an excellent spot to stay and rest on your journey. The town of Choteau has several restaurants, gas stations with propane, a drug store and Rex’s grocery. If you feel like walking downtown, you’ll see the historic buildings like the Courthouse built in 1906.

I loved it here! we stayed for 5 days. we appreciated the shower since we weren't hooked up to sewer and it is bigger than our trailer. site 1 feels like we had our own yard. the picnic table was nice to sit at and I loved sitting outside in the morning to drink my coffee. it was less than 10min to glacier and so quiet. if we stayed in the park it would have been noisy. only one day we got a couple of mosquito bites sitting outside but other than that they weren't bad at all. the tent sites looked nice, the cabin was nice. I definitely recommend staying here.

If your travels take you anywhere near Glacier National Park, I highly recommend Caribou camp. This camp is set up for the weary wanderer with all of the amenities, including fire pits, s’mores kits, comfy outdoor chairs and a quiet, secluded spot to just unwind. Just minutes from the entrance to West Glacier & 25 minutes from Whitefish, it couldn’t be more convenient. There were beautiful Mountain View‘s right out our front door… And we especially enjoyed the ambient train noises. It even rained while we were here, which was heaven sent. We’ll definitely come here again when we visit the glacier Park area.

Coming from another HipCamp that was a very difficult experience for us, this one was a complete and total delight in so many ways. We did a video of this review of this location on our channel. You can watch it at Mile High Beach on You Tube and InstaGram. Here is what worked for us: • Awesome basecamp location for Glacier National Park and the surrounding cities (Kallispell, WhiteFish, Columbia Falls & BigFork) • Great communication with the Host (ahead of our visit, and while we were there for fire bans, etc..) • Incredibly thoughtful layout, amenities (bbqs, shower room, WIFI, community pit, wildflowers) Here are the things that did not work: • While big rig friendly, some tight turns for a rig our size • Long drive from East entrances to Glacier National Park • Road Noise (not really a challenge for us, but for some people this might be an issue) • No shade for the RV spot. We’d love to see options for at least a few other RVs, so we could be friends! We would absolutely come back to this spot again!

We really enjoyed our stay at Camp Caribou, the owners, John and Tomi were very accommodating. We stayed 3 nights in our camper and loved being able to use the campsites facilities. It is an older trailer, but a work in progress for the owners. You can see their desire to make you feel at home, the little touches are wonderful! The train may be an issue for light sleepers, we did not have an issue with it. We were only 10 minutes from the west entrance and the whole area surrounding has good restraunts and shopping. We would definitely stay at Camp Caribou again. Thx Tomi and John.

This was one of my favorite stays, and I want to return! The owners were super friendly, and the place had so many fun things to do! We went rockhounding at two places nearby: Crystal Park, and a sapphire mine! They were both a lot of fun! The campgrounds has a nice water area to sit in to beat the heat of Summer. They also have a nice lodge with lots of room in the lodge to play games and relax. The bathrooms with showers were very clean as well. Just a great place to stay, year-round!

We had an amazing time and the host were exceptional. The camp ground was extremely well kept. They had a recreation room, a full community kitchen, Coffee in the morning, lounging in the river, and great information about the surrounding area. This would be a great place to stay if you like to hunt or fish in the area come winter with resources nearby. It was also a great area for rock hounding for those that want to play in the dirt nearby. We would highly recommend this place to any of our closest friends.

Tomi and her husband were amazing hosts. I really enjoyed my stay here, with electric and water. There is also a camp "lodge" with a kitchen and refrigerator, a shower, and a great front porch. Nice place to hang out if it rains. Also a community fire pit area and a dump station. You can explore Hungry Horse, Columbia Falls, North Fork and West Glacier from here.

There’s a tent site & they have an RV you can rent A really nice one and they are working on the mobile home; that’s on the property which is used for restroom facilities and what not right now. Southwest Montana

In the heart of Montana's Big Sky country, just west of Yellowstone National Park, this region is characterized by cute towns (notably Butte and Helena), historic ghost towns (a remnant of the region's historic mining industry), and relaxing hot springs. Popular camping areas include Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park and Bannack State Park.

Yellowstone Country

If you're headed to Yellowstone Country, it's likely with a visit to Yellowstone National Park in mind, but there's plenty more to do in the region, from hiking the Lake Fork Trail to checking out the restaurant and brewery scene in Bozeman. Yellowstone itself is, of course, a must-visit, but if you can’t find camping in the massive—and ever so popular—national park, you may have better luck snagging something in Custer Gallatin National Forest.

Central Montana

Central Montana offers all sorts of opportunities for outdoor recreation, rain or shine. Summer activities include fishing, horseback riding, and camping, while spots such as Showdown Mountain, Teton Pass Ski Resort, and Bear Paw Ski Bowl offer skiing and snowboarding. The region also has plenty of state parks, including Sluice Boxes State Park, Giant Springs State Park, and First Peoples Buffalo State Park.

Eastern Montana

Vast and expansive, eastern Montana features sparse landscapes dotted with the occasional herd of cattle, and plenty of room to get out and explore. You can take in views of the Badlands from Makoshika State Park or the Badlands Wilderness Study Area, or camp under the open sky in the expansive Custer National Forest. If you'd like to get out on the water, the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area is the place to go, with boat rentals available.
