Seven Oaks

Seven Oaks is our home. There are 40 acres of hardwood timber on the Platte river and 10 acres of grass and wildflowers; Miles of rustic trails for hiking or biking, some appropriate for hayrides; picnic table and a 300 sq. ft. treehouse with hammocks for relaxation; Play a game of Cornhole; Fish in our pond or the Platte river.  Kayak available but must use life vests. We are 15 minutes from Smithville lake boat ramp. 

We are limiting the 40 acres of timber to five groups of campers to provide privacy and seclusion for all.  Topside RV/Camper Site includes the newly refurbished 28 ft. camper that sleeps 4 comfortably.  The Hickory Forest RV/tent site has water and RV power hookups available. The lower level has three other tent camp sites available.

WARNINGS!  Hazards on our property include, but are not limited to:  Biting insects, wild animals, dead fall trees (especially on the river bottom), slick and muddy approach to the river.  In general, keep in mind you are camping in a timber and nature happens!

Welcome to Honey Grove Campground, where picturesque and tranquil pastures surrounded by trees await you. Whether you're a history enthusiast, stargazer, Amish goods shopper in Jamesport, fisherman/hunter, or simply seeking a relaxing retreat with friends and family, your stay at Honey Grove Campground promises to be delightful. We are conveniently located just 5 minutes away from historic sites and a short 5-minute drive from the fishing and boating opportunities at The Grand River.

Our well-appointed bathroom facilities include toilets, sinks, and hot showers to ensure your comfort during your stay. Nestled in the serene landscape are three cabins, each accommodating four guests, offering a view of the wide-open field and our historic brick silo. Each bunkhouse is equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring for your outdoor enjoyment.

For those who prefer tent camping, we offer nine spacious sites with shade, a picnic table, and a fire ring provided for each site.

To contribute to our shared camping experience, kindly bring your own bedding, practice water conservation, and leave the campsite cleaner than you found it. We extend a warm welcome to our hive at Honey Grove Campground, where nature and relaxation come together for a memorable outdoor experience.

Our restrooms are closed during the winter (November 9 - March 31).

When you drive in you will see the silo and group gathering area on your right, the cabins ahead of you and the tent and RV sites to the left.

This is a tent site right after construction. These sites have been seeded with grass and the leaves are budding with leaves in mid-April.

These are tent sites 6 and 7 after the grass seed was laid. 

Every tent site has a picnic table and fire ring. Parking for tent and cabin sites is in the parking lot.

Dry camp in a grassy field surrounded by trees or down by the pond area. Fish and perhaps see the horses stroll by. Plenty of wildlife visits daily.  

Wathena Riverfront Campground

It is a private camping club which is made up of 10 waterfront acres along the main channel/current of the majestic Missouri River. It is about 2.5 miles SW of Wathena, KS and is bordered by Walnut creek to the south and a small creek just north of the boat ramp.  We do not have staff on site on a scheduled basis.  Campground and riverfont access is for registered guest only, there are no public facilities. 

Larger RV sites with electric only (30 amp camper plugs). The nearest RV dump station is at Love's Truck stop in St. Joseph 14 miles to the East.  Each site has its own fire ring. You may bring your own wood or buy some at Casey's in Wathena.   There is a hydrant near the elevated deck which is supplied with city water in case you need to fill jugs. 

Feel free to fish and enjoy shore fires along the banks of the Missouri River, but do so at your own risk and supervise minors at all times. Remember to bring your own fishing gear for an immersive experience by the water. Experience the tranquility of the riverfront and make the most of your stay.

There is a fairly steep boat ramp past site 10. There are public boat ramps that are maintained in nearby Elwood, St. Joseph (near the Casino) and Atchison. This ramp can only be used by registered campground guest only and users assume all risk to themselves and property. 

The campground is at the original steamboat landing and downtown of the now ghost town of Palermo, KS. Nearby town of Wathena (2.5 miles) is the site of the beginning of the California Trail where settlers were let off at the river NE of town (area and trail is marked) and headed west. The Pony Express started at nearby St. Joseph, MO (9 miles) and passed through the area. It has a museum.  Wathena has Star 36 Diner (breakfast, lunch and supper), the legendary Dairy Barn (ice cream and food options),  VFW bar, quilting store.

This 4 acre site features an established Orchard with mowed grass parking and fire pit on each of the 4 secluded camping spaces. the acreage is surrounded by  horse ranch and a Bison Farm along with 100s of flowing hay fields. Best of all only Minutes from Rays Off Road Park. Come enjoy fast action all day and the tranquil nights.

I inherited this land from my uncles who spent their whole life’s purpose to live and maintain the land. It has given me such peace and a great escape that I think everyone deserves to touch a piece of its soul to help you in your soul searching or unplugging from life to clear your mind to tackle the world!
I’ve grown up seeing the land change, watching how nature can change streams and hills and love seeing how years and years of leaving it alone can create such a beautiful canvas all on its own. 
One of my uncles favorite things to do was to look for arrowheads and if you are familiar with ancient Indian practices, you can find many characteristics in these woods.

Nestled in historic Platte County, Missouri, our property provides an rural agritourism experience off-grid out in the natural environment. 

We are 20 minutes from historic Weston, MO, 30 minutes from historic St. Joseph, and 30 minutes from downtown Kansas City.

We also offer local, farm fresh, grass raised Beef and Pork products from famous McBee Meats (series the McBee Dynasty).    Please contact Host or order under extra's before your arrival.  Includes Brats, Ground Beef, Beef Sticks, all-beef hot dogs, beef sticks, Eggs, etc.

We are a 420 friendly property.     Campers must comply to all Missouri regulations.

Under no circumstances should visitors trespass over to any of the neighboring properties.    We have had multiple campers trespassing across the fence to the neighbors property.   Neighbors are nice people but because of the multiple incidents and damage done to fences and their property, they did notify me that they will prosecute.    Thank you for respecting this policy. 

All campsites are Private and Primitive.  Please bring your own potable water and portable toilet
