The Hamlet Lake homestead is our 10-acre family home with two unique and private hip-camp sites. The Hamlet Lake Bunkhouse is located to the west of our home in its own secluded parcel next to the lake. The Camp on Hamlet Hill is to the north of our home, on a remote flat hill at the top of our property, on a hill over Cedar brook. with 300-acre, (private) Hamlet Lake in front, and the wide portion of the 20-mile Cedar brook in the back. We are a large "homesteading" family, with chickens, ducks, and a garden. The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, cooking utensils, and an outhouse. (Tents are available for a small additional cost). There is an outdoor water pump below the hill. Guests can access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, canoe, kayak, and paddle boards included. At nearly 100 feet deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, with the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system. Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us. Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south.

The property is within the Cuyuna mountain bike area, between the Yawkey and the Cruser's Kettle trailheads. There is a fire ring as well as a great deck upon which you can camp or otherwise relax and enjoy the view of the forested valley. The container is heated and cooled, and the container has a luxurious warm tiled shower, sink, toilet (cassette style), power and of course, as pictured, a beautiful small bedroom and living room. It is primitive with minimal amenities beyond an outhouse and hand pump for water. Accessibility is only for tenting or truly tiny camper vehicles. The campground is a huge semi-shaded space for up to 20 tents, still, we prefer 1 or 2 at a time. However, larger group retreats are possible. We are serious environmentalists and we offer this opportunity just for true nature lovers as singles or couples, who totally take care of themselves, leave absolutely no trace, and are solid environmental stewards. In other words, its no place for a party. Separate from the campground there are: apple orchards, outdoor sculptures, wildlife, a meditation kuti, and perfect spaces for forest therapy. Yet almost unbelieveably, you can walk to a Pizza Hut or Walmart in 5 minutes. This is an excellent staging point for outdoors people en route to Itasca State Park, The Lost Fourty, and the state and national forests of the north.

We wanted to find somewhere last minute to camp and it was a really cool spot. Plenty of firewood, nice view of the river. We didn’t face any issues driving to the site, off roading but a clear path. The fire pit was awesome and our fire was still smoking when we woke up!

What a fantastic spot! As the host recommends, definitely plan to walk. We drove out there in a very small AWD car and we got out and in in mostly one piece, but it is very tight. That said, site 3 is stunning. The stars were out and it was the perfect site to stargaze. We managed to get a couple walleye off of the bank in front of the camp. Definitely bring your rod and some heavy lures to get across the wide Mississippi if you like fishing. They are out there! -Tons of wood -good views -well kept -very dog friendly -no bugs (when we went)

Love the view and the privacy! Caught some fish and and had some peaceful nights by the fire! Trails are a bit tight but they were dry. I made it back there with a 2wd f150 no problem! I would highly recommend the stay!

My friend and I loved tent camping at site 3. The hike in was made easier with the wagon and we loved the views of the Mississippi. We were able to put our tubes in at site 2 and coast down to our site. We got a nice breeze and plenty of privacy! Leah had great communication leading up to our trip and even provided us helpful information for a kayaking route. We would definitely like to come back for more memories! Having endless firewood was such a perk too.

Took a break from cabins surrounded by other cabins and enjoyed tent camping with our Lugaloo on campsite #1. Yes, you can hear traffic but didn’t bother us. Bring a speaker and play your favorite music. You don’t need a loud volume to drown out the traffic sound. Enjoyed the adventurous drive to the camp site. We did help out fellow campers that got stuck so keep that in mind. We drove a dodge ram 2500 with a wench. Glad we could help out. You want off grid and surround yourself with trees…you found it. Great weekend.

Weekend Trip to The Hamlet Lake Homestead

We enjoyed the campsite, which was spacious, and it was great to have the camper on-site as well, which we used for storing our coolers, etc. but you could easily sleep in there, too. Eric was friendly and also responsive when I had questions before arrival. My daughters and I enjoyed a few hours out on the lake, which was lovely on a hot day. The family and friends were also enjoying their lakefront, which was totally fine with us but it's definitely not a private beach, though the camping site felt private. If I were to go back, I would likely bring paddleboards and items for floating. The ones on site were not in the best shape, though we did make it work and had a great time on the water. We found the hosts accommodating and the setting to be nice for a short getaway from the city. The baked goods for sale by the hosts were a plus, too!

The owners where polite and extremely nice we where allowed to gather wood from the surrounding area they let us use there water equipment and they also had mushrooms that are edible in the woods just make sure you know what type of mushrooms are and aren't overall me and my family loved being there it was peaceful and rejuvenating will definitely be going back

I stayed at site #3. Beautiful spot and very secluded from your neighbors. Lots of wood to burn and a beautiful spot to relax and detox from the rest of the world. Not a very hard drive to get back there at all (as long as you have AWD I’d say lol). I would highly recommend this spot. 10/10 🫶🏻
