Weekend Trip to Trails End Retreat

What a weekend getaway. This site was exactly what we were looking for. We got there and were met by Todd who greeted us and led us out to the site. After we pulled up he let us know that this back 80 acres was all ours for the weekend. Site was already stocked with firewood and we were given not only one but 2 dozen eggs due to miss communication on their part. Site was large and we had our camper and our screened in tent set up with plenty of space. We had some great spring weather and we're able to build a large fire to keep warm at night. Stars were out both nights! Big plus was that we had excellent cell reception to stay in touch with our kids and we were even able to stream the Wild Playoff game directly to our campers TV.

5 nights at Trails End Retreat

I totally recommend this campsite. It was super worth it. Me and my girlfriend traveled all the way from Wisconsin. And got treated with nothing but hospitality. It was one of the most greatest experiences of my life. The campsite was clean. It was secluded and everything that I needed. If you get the chance to get to this campsite, you won’t be disappointed.

Weekend Trip to Trails End Retreat

We had an amazing early-season stay at Blueberry Lane campsite in Hinckley, MN! The moment the road was passable by truck and trailer, we headed out—and it was well worth it. The campsite was clean, secluded, and absolutely beautiful. It felt like our own little slice of peaceful Minnesota wilderness. Our hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. You can tell they really care about the land and the experience they're offering. If you're looking for a quiet, nature-filled getaway, this is the place. We’ll definitely be back for another visit this summer!

Adding to the welcoming atmosphere, are two friendly dogs – Frank, a Goldendoodle, and his sister/sidekick, Lucy, a Mini Goldendoodle. They roam freely on part of our property with the help of an invisible fence. Feel free to shoo them away if they bother you or if any other rogue neighborhood dog wanders over. On this property you can have your pets off leash but please contain your pet as you see fit with other pet personalities. Sometimes, like humans we don't all get along. Please clean up after them as they roam the property and respect others campers/neighbors spaces. Keep your dog within your sight at all times. When we camp, we value privacy, and we'll ensure the same for you. Upon arrival, please head directly to your campsite or cabin. We can communicate through messaging to assist you with anything you need. ***Campers must back campers in from the tar (Vista Rd). Guests will need to be self contained, take waste with them and leave no trace. ***Attention Summer Guests: Swimmer's Itch Prevention*** During the warmer summer months, please be aware of the potential for swimmer's itch in our lake. The land was purchased by the Sway family in the late 70's from a farmer and has been in the family since. We are one of the 4 current land owners of this property and plan to keep the land in the family as long as we can. Our home was built in 2011 on part of the property. Since living here we have used the land for hiking, gardening, wood harvesting, selling Christmas trees, and now we are excited for our new adventure of opening a small part of our land for camping. The Hamlet Lake homestead is our 10-acre family home with two unique and private hip-camp sites. The Hamlet Lake Bunkhouse is located to the west of our home in its own secluded parcel next to the lake. The Camp on Hamlet Hill is to the north of our home, on a remote flat hill at the top of our property, on a hill over Cedar brook. with 300-acre, (private) Hamlet Lake in front, and the wide portion of the 20-mile Cedar brook in the back. We are a large "homesteading" family, with chickens, ducks, and a garden. The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, cooking utensils, and an outhouse. (Tents are available for a small additional cost). There is an outdoor water pump below the hill. Guests can access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, canoe, kayak, and paddle boards included. At nearly 100 feet deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, with the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system. Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us. Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south.

There will be a four person paddle boat available for guests, you must bring your own lifejackets for any water activities. There are also atv or mountain bike trails just feet away from the site. There is a fire pit on site with free split firewood. We are located 5 minutes south of Garrison, and 5 minutes north of Grand Casino Mille Lacs, and right across the road from Northwood Hills golf course with Charlie’s Bar & Grill. To launch your boat there are public water accesses to the north and south or there is a private launch near the mouth of the channel. It has a new cement ramp. To use the ramp you have a one time payment of $10.00.

You will find there are a couple seasonal neighbors further up the road that are known by myself and considered kind individuals who keep to themselves.

Just down the road are hundreds of lakes and streams, the Gordon dam, hiking trails, UTV trails, horseback trails, restaurants, bars, and the beautiful Gordon flowage. Gordon Pines golf club is a 1 minute drive away and features a 9 hole course that I consider a huge bargain. Nearby grocery can be located in Minong or Solon Springs. I highly recommend the Lookout Tavern about a mile east because of it's incredible view of the Gordon Flowage. Leader Lake Fishery area is my favorite hidden gem for fishing. What more could you want?

Dogs are welcome but please note this is a managed wildlife property, there are active black bear dens on the property, many deer, foxes, badgers, turkeys etc so all dogs need to be leashed - it has happened and it’s not fun for anyone, so this is not a guideline, it’s one of our very few “rules.” The other major rule is no fireworks at any time period. We had a forest fire that started from a firework, 3 fire departments required for it, not only did we lose about 5 acres of vegetation, the campers were charged the full cost of the fire department and DNR - again no fun for anyone. There is no place for fireworks of any kind here. Camp Fires are allowed in designated fire pits when DNR fire danger is below Moderate. Wildlife viewing and photography blinds and stands are available, fully enclosed and very comfortable with 360 degree views. Lots of fun surprises here and if you haven’t stayed on a piece this size, this natural as your private setting it’s an experience worth trying!

The site is less than a mile from the Clear Lake public access and boat launch.
