Half way between Chicago and Detroit is a city named Kalamazoo. Our place is near the intersection of US 131 and I-94, so whichever direction you are traveling is accessible. Whether you are heading to the beauty of "up north" or running between the big cities east and west, this is a great spot to rest and enjoy some down time. Lake Michigan is a 40 minute drive west from here and if you are a bicyclist, you can ride the Kal-Haven Trail from the trail head about 2 miles from here, all the way to the Big Lake and back (35.5 miles one way). We have trails in the woods and open fields to look over, depending on your preference. As of this year, there is no electricity and water hookup, so tents or trailers with electric and water are your option. We have a bell tent available for a single or a couple to stay. On that same site is room for a trailer or tents, if you want to invite your friends, and we've built a cooking shelter and a bath house that has a compost toilet and a shower with on demand hot water from solar energy. We have a horse farm on the property and offer horse experiences (All our activities are done on the ground near or with the horses, so, no riding is offered) at an additional fee. It is expected that you will remain outside the fence from the horses while you are staying, unless you sign a release and are accompanied by the owner to interact with them. We do not allow dogs. There are two campsites cleared in the woods, for tent camping, and more will be cleared in 2025, as time allows. There will be a bathhouse with a compost toilet and on-demand hot water nearby those campsites. If you want to stay before our build, we will offer a lower rate, but expect you to take away your own waste when you leave or clarify with us where whether there is an appropriate place on the property to dispose of it. At some point during the fall of 2025, we are placing a restored vintage 1957 Ideal camper in a separate area of the property. It will have solar power and an indoor compost toilet, with a stove and sink. It will host a single or a couple who can sleep on a full sized mattress. Another sleeping area may be offered from converting the table, but we are not sure how comfortable it will be until we've completed the renovation.

What to expect lodging at Mustang Sally's: Mustang Sally's offers glamping sites, primitive camping sites and small camper sites. In the future, the plan is to add RV sites and full service cabin sites. The most common question is "What is Glamping?" Well, glamping is glorified camping. Glamping has real beds and other comforts of home but in the camping setting. Non-Glamping sites are available for tents, pop-ups, trucks & van camping. Motorhomes are not allowed at this time. If the first can is full, please find another container. Please do not place your trash on the ground. Possums and racoons are attracted to left out or disposed of food and while we think they are cute and wonderful animals, we don’t want you to find a surprise in the night of a visiting racoon at your site because of incorrectly disposed of trash! Feel free to bring your own bike. Riding bicycles on our main entrance road is prohibited for the safety of your children and our incoming guests. You are able to ride them everywhere else on the property, just not the main driveway. Cancelling your reservation on the day of or within 7 days prior to arrival will result in no refund. Cancelling your reservation 8 to 14 days prior to arrival, you will be refunded half of your total stay. Cancellations 15 or more days will receive a full refund minus a $15 processing fee. If I could give this 10 stars, I would. Peaceful serenity at its finest. I'm a seasoned, rustic camper & decided on a spontaneous, last minute weekend away & came across Way Way Back & their Bell Tent. Knowing it was going to be a beautiful day Saturday, but rain Saturday night & Sunday, I didn't want to waste the weekend. But not having to take down a wet tent & pack wet gear, that sounded wonderful. Wonderful is exactly what it was. I got there later than expected Friday night & it was pitch dark. Jeremy was in contact with me during my drive down & told me to message him when I was close so he could lead me to the tent. Unfortunately I didn't have cell signal as soon as I was about 1.5 mile away, but I stopped at the house & he led the way. Was I ever happy that he did, daylight wouldn't have been difficult. I was delighted to discover that I was the 1st guest of the Bell Tent & was it ever cozy. I lit a fire, got situated, then slept luke a baby. When I woke the next morning to a breathtaking view of the fields & woodsnext to me, I was very excited. My dogs lived it too, 15 yr old Maggie decided to wander into the woods to discover a nlce little river, he favorite. To my surprise she was sharing a drink with beautiful doe only 5 ft from her. Only wish ai had my camera to catch that special moment. Zowie and I walked up about 10 ft away & just watched for a few moments before she wandered off. I can't wait to go back!!

Absolutely wonderful! The camp is beautiful, even at the end of the season. 2 of the 5 of us had never camped before and it was all 3 kids favorite place we stayed (over 6 nights throughout Michigan, a different town each day). My partner and I took our three teenage nephews (and dog) and we had the most fun, peaceful weekend at Blooming Bus Farms. This was the perfect place for nature lovers who enjoy some comforts of home. Melissa was incredibly accommodating and quick to respond, and made us feel welcome before setting foot on the land. She let us meet their sweet and funny alpacas, which was a real treat for us city dwellers. The entire property is enchanting and our campsite truly became our home for a couple days. We will be coming back for a couple’s trip, and the boys are already asking if we can take them again. 10 out of 10!

What an incredible place. So peaceful, so secluded, exactly what we were hoping for. We only stayed one night for this trip, and we all wished we could have stayed longer so we will definitely be planning a longer stay in the future. The bed was very comfortable, I always worry about that when staying at places away from home. We did have to relocate a few 8-legged friends from inside the yurt when we first arrived, but they didn’t put up too much of a fight. We got rain during the night, and my new favorite thing is sleeping in a yurt while it’s raining. It was heaven. I love how the yurt is nestled under pines, it’s such a good spot.

We loved our stay at this sweet farm. Sandra was so kind and helpful- as was her husband and the woman helping on the farm. The bell tent site was very peaceful with a lovely view of the meadow and tree line. We enjoyed an awesome fire at night…. and loved the presence of horses behind us in the paddock. The tent, covered kitchen area and bathroom are well thought out and so cute! We didn’t use the shower, but it was amazing that it was even an option!! The composting/cassette toilet was very much appreciated and running water to wash hands too! The kitchen area was nice in case of rain. We kept our cooler under there and appreciated the thoughtful items available to use. This was amazing glamping with true connection to nature. We hope to be back!

Everything about this experience was EXACTLY what I needed. Sandra has alot of love for this land and all its natural inhabitants and the balance is something we dont realize in our everyday hustle and bustle of life! The bell tent was furnished with a VERY comfortable bed, pillows and linens. It smelled really nice when I got there! The bathhouse was beautifully constructed (warm shower!). There are some beautifully spirited horses on the property who will sometimes come check on you while they are grazing. And the hammock under the tree was amazing! A nice breeze put me to sleep in that hammock for 2 hours! Anyway, Everything was explained and set up just as detailed and I didnt have to call on her for anything! It was such a great experience and I will definitely be coming back!
