The property was originally owned by a family name Nichols (thus the name of the lake). It was handed down to the sons who each owned half the property. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property. My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. In 1984 the name was changed to "Cedar Lodge" a coed camp that specializes in English horseback riding and offering high level general camp activities.  Enjoy the peace and quiet of our totally private fresh water lake. Take your boat out for a day of fishing or just chill next to the fire.  Sites are approximately 50 feet from each other. If you want privacy we suggest you book both.

A Lake of your own....
Lovely 3-day camping trip!
We loved this HipCamp! The lake is beautiful and clear. I went snorkeling and saw lots of little bluegill, minnows, a largemouth bass and a baby Northern Pike There were friendly dogs and lots of horses! The horses' pasture was huge and hilly and woodsy with nice hiking trails. Amy was super friendly and let me gather some Paw Paw fruit to take home to ripen. Our dog loved camping off leash! We rented a canoe and paddle boat which added another fun activity. A great three night trip! We will be back!

The lake front site was beautiful! I would definitely recommend booking both sites if you want more privacy, as the two sites are very close to each other. My group had a great time.

Site 8 - Little cabins in the woods!
We had a great stay at Cedar Lodge. My sons enjoyed looking at the horses and we loved kayaking on the lake. Make sure you bring lanterns or some form of lamp- the cabins are pretty dark even during the day. It was nice having the shower house and a real/flushing toilet and sink (we didn't take a shower but nice that we could have) Loved that we got to bring our dog. Ducks Inn and the other larger cabin each have one outlet but no lights so bring a power strip or something if you need multiple outlets to cook, charge phones, plug in a lamp etc.

Site 8 - Little cabins in the woods!
Great for what we needed.
We had an enjoyable stay ay Cedar. Plenty of space for three kids to run around. Each cabin has about ten+ bunks and shelves for storage. Our cabin was Raven Haven. The solar powered lights were not working in the cabin and happy we brought our own lanterns etc. I'd also suggest bringing a mat or rug to place at the door to avoid a dirty floor and soap for the bathroom. Our first night we had a cute farm dog protecting us. We later found out he was the neighbor's dog Bruno! He is very friendly. Order your wood before you arrive too. Amy will have it on your cabin porch when you get there. Our only cons, the lake did not seem swimmable for us. We were happy to have family nearby with a spot to swim. Also, some of our neighbors had no camp etiquette. One cabin had a huge speaker and played music so loud we could not hear each other talk. The other cabin had no idea what they signed up for. They moved their picnic table and fire ring in front of our cabin which caused smoke to come into our cabin and created a lot of noise for sleeping kids. Overall, it was great for what we needed and the kids had a great time.

The hosts are friendly and helpful but overall we had a lackluster experience and don’t plan to return. The cabins are overpriced and don’t offer any privacy.

A Lake of your own....
Nice campsite by the water. Since we were visiting in the spring the geese were defending their goslings most of the night so it wasn't the most serene campsite as a result. Would give it another shot in the fall though.

Site 8 - Little cabins in the woods!
Wonderful little gem
Wonderful spot for all. I loved how flexible Kate was. On arrival we booked one of the electric cabin but another large group was a little close to us. With all the kids we had we wanted more space. I asked Kate if we could move cabins and she gave us no issues moving to any other one of our choosing. The cabins were clean and so were the bathrooms. Kate would come every morning to grab trash, clean bathrooms and check in with us. We had wood brought out to our asiste with no issues. We rented a paddle boat which was so fun. Watching the horses and having the swing set nearby was very nice. It was a vive location, near pumpkin patches, stores, beach and wineries so we didn’t stay at the campsite all the time. The other staff was so nice also.

Love this please. Beautiful horses around the camp. Needs better instructions on how to logging and bathroom locations before your arrival. But is a very nice place after all.

A Lake of your own....
Nice… but not sure we’ll be back
Generally, we had a good stay. Beautiful site, access to restrooms…. I wish I had known how close the site was to the horses and that the site was inaccessible twice a day because the horses come in/out of pasture. The two sites by the lake would be fine for two small groups - and it was fine - but with two separate large groups, there was more noise than I hoped for - especially with the acoustics off the lake. The listing stated a grill and trash accessible, but we arrived second to the property, so those things were found on the other site. Also, wish we could have requested a trail ride before we arrived. When we arrived we were told it was probably too late to arrange.

Site 3 - Little cabins in the woods!
Fun, nostalgic stay. A great time!
I was the leader of a party of 6 that spent a weekend at the cabins. The camp is about 5 minutes off I-94. In case you forgot to pack anything, there's a Dollar General you pass on the way. The cabins are a short drive up a hill through a wooded area. The cabins are fairly close together, sharing a common grassy wooded (lots of elm and pine). We were the only group staying in the cabins for the weekend. There was plenty of shade, which was wonderful with the hot weather. The cabins vary in size, and all have your typical camp bunk beds and mattresses. There are also some moveable shelves for storage. The only cabin with electrical outlets is Duck Inn, at the far end of the cabins area. The cabins had screened windows with curtains, and glass windows that looked like they could be pulled up for colder weather. There is a path downhill to the open field, horse corral, and lake. The beach of the lake is pretty mucky, but there is a short pier you can jump off if you want to swim. A couple of us went fishing and caught a few small fish. The cabins are all very close to the bathroom, the furthest cabin is probably only 200 feet away. Bathrooms have flush toilets, double sinks with mirrors, and behind the sinks there are two individual shower units with curtains, and they have indoor lights (switches next to entrance). The shower pressure was adequate and the water temperature was perfectly hot (I don't think you can adjust the temperature, just the flow rate). There are several firepits by cabins. We called Amy when we needed firewood, and it was delivered to us promptly. We used 3 bundles ($6 each) and it was enough for cooking dinner and several hours of nighttime hangout. It wasn't very buggy when we stayed. We did see a big spider in one of the showers so keep an eye out. I wanted to play the disc golf course but it seemed to be in too much woods and poison ivy was a concern. Seeing the horses "come in" was very cool. Thanks for a fun stay!

Beautiful with a summer camp feel. Really enjoyed our nights here! Would plan a hike off property as there is a lot of poo and horses being moved around- it is a very active horse stable. Loved having the horses to watch!

A Lake of your own....
A lake of your own is very beautiful! Watching the horses is a lot of fun, there are tons of them. The gate is easy to open (two boards to pull your car through) and the bathroom is a short walk and clean. The camp area is grassy and open with lots of space. The lodge is close to the camp area, so during business hours there are people with horses close by. Great stay!

Relaxing and sweet
Wonderful in the early morning with the horses being let out of the corral and the farm dogs! My dogs lived the space and the smells. And for us in early April just quiet!

Great space for group camp!
Mid October with all the leaves changing gave the lake and the wooded areas a great vibe. Peaceful and quiet with the occasional passage of the horses on the property. You don’t want to miss seeing them let out in the morning and called back in at night. The facilities and rest rooms were in great working condition and helpful for a group of campers who want some space to stay clean and freshen up. Area was pretty flat so great for tent campers, with a little dock to watch the sun set or fish off of. One recommendation for the host is to check the coordinates for directions. We clicked on the location but ended up being on the other side of the lake. But a great host, when we called it was answered and they helped guide us the last little bit. We’ll definitely consider visiting again!

Amazing, pseudo-private campsite
So cool! Lakeside campsite with grill and fire pit. Small dock and beautiful private lake. Other people would use the campsite for access to the lake for fishing, and the stables next door have horses and children's riding classes, so people walk by occasionally. Beautiful site, really cool feel to this old children's summer camp!

Site 8 - Little cabins in the woods!
If you bring your dog(s), just know that if most of the camping sites are rented the weekend you go, you will need a tie out. Sites were clean and they have a measure of privacy depending on how many are rented that particular weekend. Great to have the shower house/ toilet situation. A large picnic table and fire ring are available at each site. Cabins were clean and spacious so it was easy to pull in our gear in case of rain. We fished in the lake and caught enough to make dinner. Rented a canoe to fish, shore fishing wasn't possible from what we could see. It was cool to see and hear the horses doing their thing, too.
