There's a public boat launch just a couple minute ride and Connor Bayou Park has a kayak specific boat launch. Or, you can also drop a kayak in at the very west end of our property right from shore. Hiking, biking and wildlife/bird/eagle watching are also options. Lake Michigan beaches, various state/county parks, downtown Grand Haven's shops and restaurants are just a short drive away. Holland is about 30 minutes south. PJ Hoffmaster State Park is 25 minutes North. If you are a thrill seeker, Michigan's Adventure Amusement and Waterpark is 40 minutes North in Muskegon. Grand Rapids is 40 minutes to the East. There are also many wineries, distilleries, ciders and craft beer in Southwest Michigan as well as "you pick" blueberries and many festivals in the summer. My wife and I are slowly starting up our own little farm. We have 2 indoor cats, 1 outdoor cat, a dog, chickens and two ducks. We are on 34 acres and have a river that runs through the middle of it. We are 10 minutes from Alma and 20 minutes from Mt Pleasant. Lumberjack park is about 2 minutes away and Stearns preserve is about 5 mins away where you can walk or ride bike on a nice paved trail. We have a small garden that we plant every summer and plan to start a small farm stand this year. We are in a quiet area with lots of wildlife. We have 1 spot near the house with a view of the river that can support electric hook for a smaller RV and can attach a garden hose for water if needed. We do have a “field” that RVs can use but there is no hook up and there ground may not be level. We have many options for rustic tent camping along the river. No public restroom available. We can also provide some fire wood for campfires for a small cost. Along the river fires are allowed but must be contained in a fire ring. If camping by the field fires will be dependent on conditions. We have 3 kayaks and a canoe that can be used with prior consent. There is a park up river where you can put in and then can exit at our house which is about an hour on the river. We are very new to this and just purchased a UTV so we will be able to start making trails and clearing areas. But for now, camping along the river you will have to walk (and carry belongings) through tall grass to the site you desire. Quiet time 11 pm. We are an easy going couple that just want to share this slice of paradise with others! WiFi available

Nice spot with a concrete pad not too far from 31. A bit of road noise, but it quieted down at night. I was there for a quick stay, so, unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to enjoy the trails.

Weekend Trip to Billy’s Place in the Woods

I had a wonderful stay at this cozy cabin in the woods. The host was incredibly kind and attentive, even checking in during my stay to make sure everything was comfortable. The cabin is very clean, spacious, and well-equipped—with a fire pit, picnic table, three beds, and an outhouse. Despite the temperature dropping to 29°F one night, I stayed warm and comfortable in the dry cabin without needing the propane heater provided. I traveled with two small dogs and felt completely safe. Cooking on-site and having a fire was easy—the host even provided wood, flashlights, complimentary candy, a broom, and a vacuum. The solar panels provided good lighting, and communication was prompt and helpful. Everything exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a peaceful, well-prepared getaway.

Lovely place - magical farm vibes as advertised! Would be great for kids who like barnyard animals. Felt very safe. Host was very accessible.

I loved tent camping on Jason's land with my dog. It's exactly what we were looking for! 5 acres right along the Chippewa river and we set up our tent just steps from the river. For the most part pretty quiet area just a little bit of occasional road noise or kayakers down the river. There is a few spots to splash in the river to cool off. It looks like Jason is adding more to the property, I might check out the cabins next time!

I would highly recommend staying at Doug and Kerri's place. The views are beautiful and it was so peaceful and relaxing. They have a lot of extras at the campground and it's easy to tell they want their guests to be comfortable and happy. They were easy to communicate with and very pleasant. We will definitely be back!

Deer Path was a perfect get away for us. I was a little nervous about having neighbor's so close, but there was no need. The set up of the site and full hook ups felt very private. We loved sitting by the river and watching a Blue Heron fishing in the river as well as watching a herd of a dozen deer cross the river 100 feet from us. Megan stopped by to confirm that everything was perfect for our stay and it was. I highly reccommend this location with no reservations!

Weekend Trip to Gray's Riverside Camp

Grays River Camp was awesome. Angie was a super host and very pleasant to talk with. Attentive to needs and making sure campers are happy. She has done a lot with the campground for improvements, making sure there is a little bit for everyone to have fun outdoors or indoors in the case of bad weather. It was very quiet, clean and peaceful camped along the river. Plenty of room to walk dogs if you have them. We floated the Muskegon during our stay. Angie dropped us off at a riverside park in Big Rapids and we paddled and fished our way back to camp. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are camping there again the following weekend. I would highly recommend this camp to anyone looking to get away from the congested state campgrounds and larger RV resorts. Great for RV’s and Tents. There is a dump station for RV’s which was a blessing. Thanks Angie, we look forward to coming back.

Weekend Trip to Riverside Retreat

We hosted a sauna & camp weekend here and rented the entire river property—epic spot. The highlight was swimming in the river and jumping off the bridge into the deep hole. We also did a ~2.5 hour trip down the Chippewa, starting right at camp and ending at 19 Mile Road—only a 3-minute shuttle, surprisingly long and convenient. We first paddled upstream but turned back after downed trees, then drifted downstream. Some shallow spots, but easy to hop off and scoot paddleboards along. At night it was wonderfully quiet, and the stars lit up the sky. Even near the cabin there wasn’t much road noise, and if you go back to the tent sites by the river you likely wouldn’t hear cars at all. The sites are well spread out and could easily host a big group. Our crew of 10 loved having the whole property for privacy and to set up our mobile sauna trailer right on the riverbank. Jason also has exciting plans for the lot across the river, so it’s only going to get better. The bathroom setup is rustic—the girls in our group weren’t thrilled—but it’s rustic camping, so fair trade for such a natural spot. Overall, no complaints. If you’re into kayaking, paddleboarding, or fishing and want to escape crowded campgrounds, this is a fantastic find. Highly recommend for both small and large groups looking for a private riverside getaway.
