We offer 3 spacious, private tent sites that can accommodate whatever your heart desires — from small cozy setups to larger group hangouts. Welcome to a rare Lake Superior sand beach property, overlooking Whitefish Bay. This partially wooded site, set back from the main road 250’, offers privacy while also being within the boundaries of the small community of Paradise. Restaurants, groceries and food trucks are a short walk away.
The beach or the stair’s viewing deck offer a great spot to watch the sun rise over the lake while having your morning brew. You can pick wild blueberries in July and August in the woods between your camper and the beach.
We are close to Tahquamenon (Tuh-KWA-men-en) Falls, Tahquamenon River, Whitefish Point Shipwreck Museum, Crisp Point Lighthouse, and Rivermouth State campground/day park for boat launching and fishing.

40 acres well off the beaten path. Approximately 6 miles off of State Hwy M-94. A two track will lead you back to 40 acres of undeveloped land containing a variety of pine and poplar. Our private property borders State and Federal Forest land that contains an overwhelming amount of two track roads to explore Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The sky is unobstructed from trees leaving the stars to be enjoyed all night long. A section of the Stutts Creek flows through the property where you can enjoy a quiet morning listening to the water flow and the occasional rise of a brook trout feeding. Deer, Turkey, Grouse, Bears and Wolves are all found in our area and are often photographed by visitors. Please practice safe food storage due to a healthy bear population in the area. You're welcome to set up a campfire wherever you camp, please practice fire safety and adhere to state and county burn bans that may be in effect. Once you arrive you are free to set up camp wherever you want. This is primitive camping so come prepared to enjoy nature at its finest. There is no bathroom so plan accordingly. The property is less then an hour from Lake Superior and the heart of downtown Munising and about 30 minutes North of downtown Manistique. A GPS app such as OnX will help you navigate property lines and show you all the water bodies in the area you can enjoy. The road is generally fine for 2wd but 4 wheel drive is recommended when there is rain or snow in the forecast. Our property is fairly remote which will give you a unique experience. This is a half an acre wooded lot in a residential neighborhood on a 25 mph paved road. It is a back in, full hook-up camping spot that is large enough to accommodate rigs big and small. 20, 30, and 50 amp electrical hook-up available along with potable water and septic. This lot is large enough to accommodate a large camper/motor home and tow vehicle. Vehicles will need to be self contained as there is no bathroom of any kind on the site. A picnic table and a fire ring are also on-site.
Monocle Lake boat launch is 2 miles away. Monocle Lake is an inland 146 acre lake that is great for fishing and water sports. Foot traffic public access to Monocle is a 4 minute walk away. This spot is also a 5 min. Walk away from public access to the beaches of Lake Superior. Walk the miles of beach to your hearts content. Iroquois Point light house is along the way. Spectical Lake overlook is merely 3.1 miles away on a county road legal for ORV's. The overlook is the gateway to the Hiawatha National Forest trails. This area has many activities for the outdoor enthusiast. Single Track hiking and mountain biking trails and northern lights if you are lucky enough to catch them on the beach of Superior.
This campsite is along the U.S. Forest Service Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway. Make this spot your home away from home while touring all Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula has to offer.

Hiking
For those looking for an easy stroll, the Dufour Creek Trail is a perfect place to go. There is little to no elevation gain on the trail. The path is on the shorter side, measuring in at 1.4 miles. The Dufour Creek Trail is generally well-kept, though there can be a few muddy sections when it rains. The path leads through a forest of hemlocks and cedars, fully wooded yet easy to follow. You may also get a glimpse of the native wildlife along the way.
Swimming
Perhaps the biggest feature of the entire park is the designated swimming beach. The beach remains very popular with guests, due in part to the clean, sandy shoreline as well as the vast, cordoned-off swimming area filled with shallower waters. There are restrooms and showers on site, which also have a reputation for being clean and well-kept.
Fishing
Indian Lake in Michigan features large swaths of underwater vegetation, making this area a great place for fishing. This is especially true if you are looking for panfish, as you can expect to see plenty of species like bluegill, crappie, and the like. However, there are plenty of other kinds of fish available, including Walleye, Perch, Brown trout, Rock bass, Smallmouth bass, and Northern pike. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to cast your line, whether on the shore or out on the water.
Boating
Getting out onto the lake can be a peaceful experience. You won’t feel cramped, even when sharing the lake with others as there is plenty of room for everyone. With clear water beneath you and great weather, boating at Indian Lake makes for a great pastime.The lake is fairly shallow, with 90% of the area being less than 15 ft deep. The deepest point is 18 ft. Owners of larger boats should keep this in mind when traversing the lake. If you are looking for water access for paddle sports such as kayaking, there is a carry-on access located at Indian Lake State Park at the Western Shore Unit.
Local Eats: One of the best ways to immerse yourself in the culture of a new place is to dive into the local foodie scene and Manistique will not disappoint. Here are a few of the best restaurants, pubs, and local eats in downtown Manistique.
- Clyde’s Drive-in - This local dive was straight out of the Movie Grease. Clyde’s has been a resident favorite for years. When you stop by, try some unique staples like the Bison Burger, a Big C Burger with Cheese, or a Pasty with gravy.
- Dairy Kream - This local ice cream shop is the perfect pitstop during your vacation to the waterfront district. Dairy Kream has a delectable menu of ice cream including 24 soft-serve flavors, shakes, malts, splits, flurries, and sundaes for every type of ice cream fanatic.

40 acres well off the beaten path. Approximately 6 miles off of State Hwy M-94. A two track will lead you back to 40 acres of undeveloped land containing a variety of pine and poplar. Our private property borders State and Federal Forest land that contains an overwhelming amount of two track roads to explore Michigan's Upper Peninsula. The sky is unobstructed from trees leaving the stars to be enjoyed all night long. A section of the Stutts Creek flows through the property where you can enjoy a quiet morning listening to the water flow and the occasional rise of a brook trout feeding. Deer, Turkey, Grouse, Bears and Wolves are all found in our area and are often photographed by visitors. Please practice safe food storage due to a healthy bear population in the area. You're welcome to set up a campfire wherever you camp, please practice fire safety and adhere to state and county burn bans that may be in effect. Once you arrive you are free to set up camp wherever you want. This is primitive camping so come prepared to enjoy nature at its finest. There is no bathroom so plan accordingly. The property is less then an hour from Lake Superior and the heart of downtown Munising and about 30 minutes North of downtown Manistique. A GPS app such as OnX will help you navigate property lines and show you all the water bodies in the area you can enjoy. The road is generally fine for 2wd but 4 wheel drive is recommended when there is rain or snow in the forecast. Our property is fairly remote which will give you a unique experience. This is a half an acre wooded lot in a residential neighborhood on a 25 mph paved road. It is a back in, full hook-up camping spot that is large enough to accommodate rigs big and small. 20, 30, and 50 amp electrical hook-up available along with potable water and septic. This lot is large enough to accommodate a large camper/motor home and tow vehicle. Vehicles will need to be self contained as there is no bathroom of any kind on the site. A picnic table and a fire ring are also on-site.
Monocle Lake boat launch is 2 miles away. Monocle Lake is an inland 146 acre lake that is great for fishing and water sports. Foot traffic public access to Monocle is a 4 minute walk away. This spot is also a 5 min. Walk away from public access to the beaches of Lake Superior. Walk the miles of beach to your hearts content. Iroquois Point light house is along the way. Spectical Lake overlook is merely 3.1 miles away on a county road legal for ORV's. The overlook is the gateway to the Hiawatha National Forest trails. This area has many activities for the outdoor enthusiast. Single Track hiking and mountain biking trails and northern lights if you are lucky enough to catch them on the beach of Superior.
This campsite is along the U.S. Forest Service Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway. Make this spot your home away from home while touring all Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula has to offer.

Hiking
For those looking for an easy stroll, the Dufour Creek Trail is a perfect place to go. There is little to no elevation gain on the trail. The path is on the shorter side, measuring in at 1.4 miles. The Dufour Creek Trail is generally well-kept, though there can be a few muddy sections when it rains. The path leads through a forest of hemlocks and cedars, fully wooded yet easy to follow. You may also get a glimpse of the native wildlife along the way.
Swimming
Perhaps the biggest feature of the entire park is the designated swimming beach. The beach remains very popular with guests, due in part to the clean, sandy shoreline as well as the vast, cordoned-off swimming area filled with shallower waters. There are restrooms and showers on site, which also have a reputation for being clean and well-kept.
Fishing
Indian Lake in Michigan features large swaths of underwater vegetation, making this area a great place for fishing. This is especially true if you are looking for panfish, as you can expect to see plenty of species like bluegill, crappie, and the like. However, there are plenty of other kinds of fish available, including Walleye, Perch, Brown trout, Rock bass, Smallmouth bass, and Northern pike. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to cast your line, whether on the shore or out on the water.
Boating
Getting out onto the lake can be a peaceful experience. You won’t feel cramped, even when sharing the lake with others as there is plenty of room for everyone. With clear water beneath you and great weather, boating at Indian Lake makes for a great pastime.The lake is fairly shallow, with 90% of the area being less than 15 ft deep. The deepest point is 18 ft. Owners of larger boats should keep this in mind when traversing the lake. If you are looking for water access for paddle sports such as kayaking, there is a carry-on access located at Indian Lake State Park at the Western Shore Unit.
Local Eats: One of the best ways to immerse yourself in the culture of a new place is to dive into the local foodie scene and Manistique will not disappoint. Here are a few of the best restaurants, pubs, and local eats in downtown Manistique.
- Clyde’s Drive-in - This local dive was straight out of the Movie Grease. Clyde’s has been a resident favorite for years. When you stop by, try some unique staples like the Bison Burger, a Big C Burger with Cheese, or a Pasty with gravy.
- Dairy Kream - This local ice cream shop is the perfect pitstop during your vacation to the waterfront district. Dairy Kream has a delectable menu of ice cream including 24 soft-serve flavors, shakes, malts, splits, flurries, and sundaes for every type of ice cream fanatic.
- Tap 21 - This American pub in Mansitique serves delicious and indulgent bar favorites like pizza, appetizers, wraps, burgers, garlic cheese curds, and bruschetta. Be sure to pair it with a cold and frothy, local beer.

Owner was easy to reach. Site is nice and quiet. Neighbors are close but we never heard or saw them. Easily backed our 40 ft class A into site with enough space for two cars and our dolly. Had a nice campfire with wood that was provided. Beautiful location. Could even hear the waves of Lake Superior on a choppy evening.

My second trip to High Swamp was even better than the first, solidifying its spot as my all-time favorite Hipcamp destination. While I’ve visited many excellent campsites over the years, Chris’s property is truly exceptional because you don't just feel like a visitor—you feel like an extended member of the family.
Beyond the incredible hospitality, High Swamp's location in Seney is ideal for exploring the Upper Peninsula. I originally chose it for its proximity to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, but on this trip, I was thrilled to easily tackle the hike to Tahquamenon Falls, which is only about an hour away.
The sites themselves are all are spacious and private. Chris has also clearly invested in guest comfort, even installing a new outdoor shower and private bathroom.
Thanks again for the hospitality, Chris! We'll see you next time, with the family!

If you have a trailer or stay in the cabins you will have a great time! The sites are very exposed for tent campers and the jake brakes from the nearby highway can be bothersome at night. The property and bath houses are top notch and the staff at the store are friendly and helpful.

Great location to camp with full hook up. Walking distance to both a beautiful small lake and a beautiful Lake Superior beach. Located in a quiet neighborhood. The scenic byway is beautiful to drive and offers many places to stop and enjoy Superior. The neighbors on one side are a little close, but it was no problem at all. We hope to be back because we love this area so much.

This is a perfect spot to stay on your visit to the Upper Peninsula. It is conveniently located near a grocery store, convenience stores, and restaurants. Unfortunately, the food trucks were not open while we were there. You are a few short steps from the water on White Fish Bay and a sandy beach. We will definitely stay here again.

The campground was clean and provided a very warm feeling. We were in Spot #38 and I think it was the very BEST spot to be in. We had a direct view of Indian Lake with no obstructions. We were able to park next to a platform deck which made getting into and out of our camper easier. The folks were very friendly and helpful. Check in was easy. In fact, another camper showed up after the office was closed. We were able to give them the phone number to call and they were able to get a spot to set up their tent. Bathrooms and showers were clean. There is also laundry service available. This is pet friendly as they accepted our dog with no issues.
