You'll be camping on our Stanley lake sugarbush property. Lakefront sites have power and water - are located in a grassy clearing on the shores of Stanley Lake. ABSOLUTELY NO CHARGING OF ELECTRIC CARS OR TRUCKS ON PROPERTY - E-bikes are ok!!
Primitive sites are amongst the maple trees of our sugarbush operation, within walking distance of the lake. These sites do not yet have water or electricity, but water is available from spigots at the lake clearing.
Stanley lake is just shy of 400 acres, known for walleye and bass. It is an all sports lake with no limited wake hours. Feel free to roam our woods - you will notice the blue maple lines come to an end at our east and west property lines, as well as a no trespassing sign on the lake clearing to the west line. Deer here are plentiful, and you can often get them to eat from your hand, provided you have apples. Iron county has a tremendous ORV/snowmobile trail system. You can drive your machine right from our property to the trails. There are two golf courses in the area, as well as a vast bicycle trail system. Ski Brule ski hills and sporting clay operation are a few miles from the property. Countless acres of public land for recreation!

Bells Acres is a large property with abundant history! Originally homesteaded by a Finnish family in the 1800s, we are only the 4th family to own this property. Doc Bell operated his veterinarian practice from this farm starting in 1915, giving his name to the creek running through the property and the lake it feeds. A family from Finland purchased the property from the Bell family in the 1960s and lived on the homestead until 2020 when we purchased it. We hope to continue the tradition of generational homesteading, while sharing this piece of God’s country with you!
Our property features a vast variety of terrain on over 40 acres for our campers to explore on and off trail. I have a place to rest for a couple nights, there is a small non motorized lake across the road. Dunbar is not to far away and there you can find Thermal Chaos, it's a great bbq place, they also have great burgers and 24 hr 91 non ethanol gas. You can also try Richard's supper club for great food also. I am also right on the atv trail. Marinette country has many waterfalls to explore also.
Please follow the golden rule of camping and hiking is “leave no trace.” Anything you bring in, must be carried out. Please pack your waste, trash and recyclables, and take it with you when you leave.
You may use dead and downed wood as firewood, but do not cut live trees or brush. Keep fires small and make sure your campfire is out before you leave.

It's situated on 21 acres of what was the original Wawonowin Country Club, a 9-hole golf course that was built in the early 1800s and then closed in the mid 1960s. The very popular RAMBA bike trails are literally an ‘stones throw’ away! We can't say enough positive things about this place! Our reservation was made a little last-minute, and Kathy was completely willing to have a site open and ready for us. She was quickly reaponsive and very kind during our whole stay. We were pleasantly surprised by the number of comfortable amenities for us - they were kind enough to have a little kindling, a fire starter, and a poker ready to go at the fire pit for us when we pulled in, along with fresh water bags and conveniently placed chopped wood for fires. The port-o-john was perfectly clean and sweetly decorated, with hand sanitizer and even a little light at night. This site is very clearly loved and cared for, it's very evident that a ton of thought has been put into everything. It's clean, well-maintained, and very private. The space is huge and easy enough to enjoy during the daytime, but the lights that come on at night make the space absolutely magical! Thank you!!

My dog and I had a wonderful month at Bells Acres! As a solo woman traveler living full-time in my 30ft Airstream with my dog, this private 40-acre property was a great fit for a long stay. Dana and Ken are kind, responsive and accommodating.
Hookups: The Swan site has full hookups and 50-amp power, and everything worked perfectly. The water pressure is excellent.
Entry and parking: Getting onto the property was easy. You go through a fence, and there was plenty of room to maneuver and back into the site, no matter how big your rig is. The property roads are mostly gravel, so 4-wheel drive might help getting to the RV spots. Because the site is gravel, leveling took a bit of time, but Ken helped me get it just right and provided extra wood blocks.
Internet: Starlink worked perfectly, with a clear view of the sky. My AT&T cell service was not great, and I mostly had no service on the property away from my Starlink.
Dog-friendliness: My dog absolutely loved it here! The hosts are fine with dogs off leash as long as the other campers are okay with it. She made friends with their dog and enjoyed off-leash walks around the property.
Mountain biking: The Ishpeming trails are about 20 minutes away, and Marquette's South Trails are about 35 minutes away. Both networks are expansive and incredible.
Nearby and hiking: Downtown Ishpeming is about 15 minutes away, and Marquette is about 30 minutes away, with a great farmers market, breweries and Lake Superior. There are incredible dog-friendly (leashed) hikes close by, including Hogback Mountain, Sugarloaf Mountain, the Wetmore Landing Shoreline Trail and Dead River Falls.

We had a great experience staying here! The property is beautiful, peaceful, and a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Everything was exactly as described, and we really enjoyed our time there.
The host was extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed. He made us feel very comfortable and was happy to answer questions and give recommendations.
We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back again. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet and enjoyable camping experience!

What a fantastic Hipcamp! We got here as the sun was going down after spending the day in Marquette and I wish we would have come earlier to enjoy the amenities. Beautifully kept area with a nice path to walk our dog and a communal fire pit that we ultimately didn’t end up using since we got in late and were tired. If we’re ever back in the UP we’ll reserve again!

I love this spot. I’ve stayed here a handful of times while traveling through Marquette. It’s spacious and private while still being a communal campground space. It’s a very thoughtful space and I always feel very safe there. Love all the tree cover! Brian is always very helpful and responsive.
