This is a 3rd generation "Family Farm" of a different sort I suppose. Seems there's a bit of everything here, and arguably not enough of anything. At least for conventional farming. So we've learned to do things a bit differently.Our main crop is wine and juice grapes since our topography, climate, and soil type makes it a premier location for that. But with 30+ acres of forested hillsides, low ground, and natural areas we've evolved into a mixed farm and forest enterprise. Our goal is to utilize the productivity of all our property while still retaining the basic character and usefulness of the wild areas. Letting each thing be what it wants to be and does best on it's own. Flow, not force.So our year starts early with tapping maple trees and making maple syrup. Plus there's grape trimming about this time as well. When the forest floor starts to green up a bit later, we start digging Ramps, or Wild Leeks in the woods. Most of these will go to the more trendy Chicago restaurants, but we also have some local sales. Next comes inoculating winter-cut logs with Shiitake spawn for next years mushroom production. This year we also conducted a few hands-on workshop seminars on mushroom growing as well. Then it's on to our raised bed herb & veggie gardens. (Fresh herbs are just so much fun to cook with!) We grow enough for our own yearly use, as well as some for direct sales. Summer keeps us busy tending all the different crops here and trying to keep up. But there's that steady progression of fresh veggies to eat. Yum !!! Fall brings our annual Grape U-Pick in September and October. And we try to time related crops like mums, pumpkins, and gourds for this same time frame. Makes the place a bit more interesting. Late fall is when we bring in firewood to heat the house and workshop. Stacks of wood everywhere. Hopefully before the 1st snow. In winter it's time to fire up the woodworking shop and be a bit creative. Build furniture, equipment maintenance, who knows what next years projects will include. I like to keep everybody guessing.So, that's what goes on here. You're welcome to check it out, lend a hand, relax back at camp, walk the vineyards and/or forest, or just breathe and relax. That's up to you. But I would recommend visiting a few of the fine local wineries. Seems there's a festival going on at one or another of them just about every weekend. Good music, good wine, good times. And there's the Lake Michigan beaches a few miles down the road.Yeah, this is a pretty casual place here, love meeting new people, very open to civil discussions of all sorts.However, rude, ill mannered people will probably enjoy staying elsewhere. Our valley is known for incredible stargazing.

Hot Showers, no problem, you can enjoy a secluded private shower in our shower house which has indoor and outdoor showers. Nearby is Lake Michigan and Esch Rd beach. Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lake shore is nearby and The National Park is famous for attractions , trails, and hiking. 20 amp Electricity and Water is included in the RV site.

Heritage Hills isn't called Heritage Hills for nothing! It's situated on 21 acres of what was the original Wawonowin Country Club, a 9-hole golf course that was built in the early 1800s and then closed in the mid 1960s. And now we have a beautiful mix of hardwoods and pines, forests and fields with multiplied non-motorized trails accessible right off the property. The very popular RAMBA bike trails are literally an ‘stones throw’ away! Our biggest site, Fairway Field is big enough for group camping that horse campers love, and one site, the Homestead, with an electric hookup. We don’t have a dump station or trash cans so please pack in and pack out.
Phone signal is good throughout the area and we are close to civilization for necessities and only 20 minutes from Marquette. So much stuff to do in this area!

There is no electricity, running water, or trash services. Please pack in, pack out. Please do not leave discarded or broken beer or alcohol bottles on property. This is a very delicate area near a local watershed source, Deer Creek, wetlands on property, and also fruit tree farm in it's early stages, organic strawberries, and organic raspberries growing as well. "Elysium Heritage Farm" is situated on 120 acres in Northeast, MI surrounded by woods, trails, ponds and canals. It's only a ten-minute drive to Pinconning, where you can experience Michigan's "Cheese Town" and all it has to offer. There's a grocery store, numerous cheese shops, and a variety of party stores and restaurants. For the outdoor enthusiasts, don't miss out on going to the ever-famous "Northwoods Wholesale Outlet". Also nearby is the "Saganing Eagles Landing Casino" in Standish. We have resided here for over 30 years and can assist you in many ways to get the most out of your visit.

Half way between Chicago and Detroit is a city named Kalamazoo. Our place is near the intersection of US 131 and I-94, so whichever direction you are traveling is accessible. Whether you are heading to the beauty of "up north" or running between the big cities east and west, this is a great spot to rest and enjoy some down time. Lake Michigan is a 40 minute drive west from here and if you are a bicyclist, you can ride the Kal-Haven Trail from the trail head about 2 miles from here, all the way to the Big Lake and back (35.5 miles one way).
We have trails in the woods and open fields to look over, depending on your preference. As of this year, there is no electricity and water hookup, so tents or trailers with electric and water are your option.
We have a bell tent available for a single or a couple to stay. On that same site is room for a trailer or tents, if you want to invite your friends, and we've built a cooking shelter and a bath house that has a compost toilet and a shower with on demand hot water from solar energy.
We have a horse farm on the property and offer horse experiences (All our activities are done on the ground near or with the horses, so, no riding is offered) at an additional fee. It is expected that you will remain outside the fence from the horses while you are staying, unless you sign a release and are accompanied by the owner to interact with them. We do not allow dogs.
There are two campsites cleared in the woods, for tent camping, and more will be cleared in 2025, as time allows. There will be a bathhouse with a compost toilet and on-demand hot water nearby those campsites. If you want to stay before our build, we will offer a lower rate, but expect you to take away your own waste when you leave or clarify with us where whether there is an appropriate place on the property to dispose of it.
At some point during the fall of 2025, we are placing a restored vintage 1957 Ideal camper in a separate area of the property. It will have solar power and an indoor compost toilet, with a stove and sink. It will host a single or a couple who can sleep on a full sized mattress. Another sleeping area may be offered from converting the table, but we are not sure how comfortable it will be until we've completed the renovation.

The property was originally owned by a family name Nichols (thus the name of the lake). It was handed down to the sons who each owned half the property. The driveway down the middle of property that leads to the lake was originally a fence line that divided the two pieces of property. The brothers did not get along and their are several stories of their warring on how to maintain the property.My parents bought this piece of property in 1964 and created a camp called "Lakeside Farm Camp", a small all boys camp. The camp has gone through several changes since then but has always been owned by the Edwards family. In 1984 the name was changed to "Cedar Lodge" a coed camp that specializes in English horseback riding and offering high level general camp activities. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our totally private fresh water lake. Take your boat out for a day of fishing or just chill next to the fire. Sites are approximately 50 feet from each other. If you want privacy we suggest you book both.

This was a hidden gem with a pond full of fun little fish. Not a full upnorth experience but the stars at night might say otherwise. It was fun, relaxing and a great experience with Hipcamp using it for the first time. My kids had a great time away from the city life and catching a ton of fire flies at night. There's enough woods and land for everyone to spread out. Neal and Melissa are very helpful and quick to respond with any questions. Overall I highly recommend it for anyone looking to stay away from the city life.

Sandra and Mark’s place is beautiful. It feels private and serene and exactly what we needed. The hot outdoor shower was amazing and the bell tent was appointed well, the bed was comfy. Sandra thought of all the little details that made our stay smooth and easy. Bonus, beautiful horses to visit! I would highly recommend their place and we will definitely be back.

We went tent camping here and it was really nice! We were only here for one night so we weren’t able to explore. However, it was nice that there seemed to be various things to do such as volleyball, horseshoe, kitchenette etc. The only thing that threw us off was the slight trek to the camp spot because it is slightly uphill. However, it was helpful that there was a wagon to pull stuff up!

We loved camping here. It was our first trip with younger children and having the indoor and outdoor showers and very clean porta potties were huge pluses. The kitchen tent and eating area were fantastic for a family and evening games. We loved our stay.

Neal was a wonderful host with excellent communication throughout. Even directed us to a local dump station. The land is beautiful and we had a great time. Pretty quiet there too. Lots of wildflowers to look at, trails in the woods to walk, and sooo many different dragonflies - which were fun to watch. Fishing in the pond was nice too. Also saw a red squirrel, deer, and various birds. Very nice to reconnect with nature, as we are from the city!

The tent sites were nice and separate from other groups. The kitchen had all you need to cook stovetop or over the common fire pit. Rob was really nice and made sure we had what we needed. The location is great in close proximity to the park and many outdoor activities. There's a great mix of wooded area and open space to star gaze at night. We had good weather but there's enough covered areas to compensate if the weather doesn't cooperate. A covered kitchen, dining area and canopy next to the fire pit.

We had an excellent stay at Camp. Every claim about each amenity was just as described - or better. To have access to a hot shower, a working, well- equipped kitchen, a cozy community campfire was spectacular. But our tent site took first price - tucked in the quiet pines - incredibly tranquil and fresh air-filled, we slept great. Our fellow campers were very neighborly; everyone friendly and helpful. Overall, camp Moonshadow offered a warm, welcoming, and rejuvenating but relaxed vibe. Thanks!!

Robb and Jeanne's camp site was by far the best camp site I have visited. If you want a clean quiet camping experience that includes hot showers, outdoor kitchen, private sites with no cars riding by your site then this is the place for you. It is at a perfect location within a few miles from Sleeping Bear Dune National Park. Robb and Jeanne was very accommodating and I would highly recommend this camp site.

Weekend Trip to Lost Nations Cowboy Town And Cabins
Cowboy Town is a unique experience full of charm! The cabins are awesome, the theme decor in the whole place is amazing. The beds are cozy, the outdoor shower was cool, and you cant beat a flush toilet when it comes to camping! Unfortunately we had some strong storms and alot of rain during our stay. Id love to come back and get into the trails and spend more time around the fire. Holly is a great host and has a one of a kind place.

This was our second stay at Camp Moonshadow, but my first time using the outdoor shower. It was a dream!
We love camping here- from the beautiful tall trees to the lovely shared kitchen with twinkle lights- and especially the outdoor shower! Who doesn't want to look up and see the stars while washing off a day at the dunes? Thanks for providing such a wonderful space!

My group of 6 lifelong friends and a dog spent the weekend here on our annual camping trip and had a blast! The campground is absolutely beautiful and the fire pit, showers, and kitchen are such wonderful inclusions. Our experience was nothing but positive and we will 100% be coming back!
