Our sites include a picnic table and fire ring. There's also a well maintained Porta- Potty for our campers and we have firewood available for purchase at $5/bundle. This is listed under "Extras". (Please, no outside firewood to be brought on the property)
Caroline County Maryland is a wonderful place to visit with plenty of opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking in nearby Martinak and Tuckahoe State Parks,Adkins Arboretum, access to public boat ramps, touring the Harriett Tubman Byway,produce stands, wineries, orchards,and close proximity to the Maryland and Delaware beaches as well as Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in neighboring Dorchester County. We're also less than two hours from Washington D.C., and Baltimore, and less than an hour from our state capitol, Annapolis.

We’ve intentionally created an off-grid, calming nature experience. You’ll be surrounded by forest, open farmland and abundant wildlife. Native gardens, fruit trees, nut trees and herbs were planted near the tent areas in September 2024, offering beauty and a deeper connection to the land.
Enjoy thoughtfully placed gathering spaces throughout the forest, including a whimsical Forest Tea Party area and Uncontained, our cozy repurposed shipping container—perfect for reading, board games, or shelter during a summer pop-up thunderstorm. A nature -made hammock area amongst tall pine trees is perfect for afternoon naps and are provided by us (7) Fire-pit seating, picnic tables, a charcoal grill, and a propane cooktop are also available.
Walk the short Jeremiah Dixon/Charles Mason Trail, a path similar to one they would have taken in the 1700s. Follow it through the forest and across the creek to our homestead, where you can place one foot in Maryland and one in Delaware at the historic Mason–Dixon marker beneath an old wild cherry tree.
Before heading back, stop at the main farm gate to visit our friendly goats—Dixie, Dolly, and Star.
Come rest, wander, and reconnect—for this calming experience is where time slows and nature leads.

Camp in a backyard in a quiet area with a barn and horses nearby. Site 1 has water hookup and a 30 amp and 110 outlet available. Site 2 has water access and a 110 outlet available. Site 3 is for tent camping only and is more secluded. It does have water access available. These sites are a great spot to watch the sunset or watch the stars at night. These all are self contained camping spots. I do have two very friendly dogs that will most likely come say hi to you. Dewey Beer is 1 mile away in Harbeson. Lewes beach is only about 10 minutes away and Rehoboth beach is about 20 minutes away. Sports at the beach is only 5 miles away. Tanger outlets is 8 miles away. Delaware Turf sports complex is 24 miles. There are many great restaurants and shopping nearby. You can also bring your bikes and ride the bike trail from our lane to Lewes or Rehoboth! Feel free to ask for recommendations!

For starters the host Andrea was great, very informative of what they have to offer on their land as well as what’s to come, and accommodating of our needs. We enjoyed the tour of the animals and their garden. The facilities for showering and the bathrooms were very clean. The areas for camping were spacious. Just an overall great place to relax and enjoy nature.

We returned to Why Not Acres for our third stay. The camp is just perfect. It is peaceful. The owners are welcoming and helpful. Everything is clean and well maintained.
There is lots for kids to do including fishing in the pond, interacting with the rescued horses, miniature horses, donkeys and mules.
It is a 25 - 30 minute drive to downtown Ocean City which is another draw to the camp.
We loved seeing Miriam and Mike again. There are just lovely people. Very kind to our grandsons by sharing their amazing farm with them.
We can’t wait to return again in the near future!

Weekend Trip to Adventures Await Retreat & Meadery
What a fun weekend! The campground was clean and quiet. Our site had a picnic table that was shaded, large fire ring, full hook ups, and was a pull through. The kiddos loved feeding the animals, playing mini golf, swimming in the beautiful indoor salt pool, biking, hiking the clearly marked and cleared trails, playing on the shaded playground, and fishing. The kiddos caught several large bass and catfish. They also have a beautiful indoor koi pond. The store has a large selection of their meads. We enjoyed root beer, elderberry jalapeno, and elderberry lime. We also got elder elixer and elderberry soap. Our pup enjoyed the trails and the large dog park. The owner and staff were knowledgeable and so welcoming.

Just like the description says..."Run your horse on the beach, then come to our campsites to relax"
That's exactly what we did! And we had a great weekend! This was our 2nd visit to Why Not Acres and we hope to return again!
We brought 2 horses. There is a great paddock right near the RV sites and tent sites...fenced with a run in shed. We felt totally comfortable with the horses being safe and no risk of running away.
Assateague is only 35 minutes away, so we were able to go for the day and ride the beach and then come back for a nice campfire, dinner and relax!
Or you can ride on the property. They have trails in the woods and a good space for the horses (or the people) to stretch their legs without leaving.
Marian and Mike are such great hosts. They are wonderful people who care very much about their property, the animals in their care and of course about the experience of their visitors! Thank you so much for making our stay great!
This is an outstanding camping or RV option if you're looking for something in this area.
We really do look forward to our next visit.

This camp is a very quiet rural location (45 minutes to Lewes and Cape May Ferry) and has a great list of amenities. The camp hosts are welcoming and very helpful. Shout-out to Dave for assisting us on arrival. The animals are cool and mostly friendly. The pool looked nice as did the meadery- didn't have time to try these. The nature walk was really nice and easy to follow. Now to the sites themselves - if you're looking at a full hook-up site, you will need to bring plenty of waste line and water line as the utility layout is challenging. Our recommendation is to call ahead and ask about site layout. Upon departure we ended up dumping our full grey and black tanks at Killen Pond State Park about 9 miles away. For those with 30-Amp rigs, do have a 50-amp converter in your electric box for flexibility in site selection. Overall, a nice long weekend stay with friendly hosts.

As soon as we arrived at Why not Acres, Marian had the red carpet rolled out for us. We arrived after dark and late so she ensured that a light was on at our site. The site was clean, flat, large, and a full hookup. It had a seating area with Adirondack chairs, fire ring, picnic table, charcoal grill with charcoal and lighter fluid, and FREE pre-cut firewood. It was exactly as advertised. Both Marian and her husband were so kind and welcoming. They provided suggestions for firework displays and water parks. It was very relaxing. The kids loved seeing the frogs. Why not Acres is close to multiple beaches and restaurants without the huge price tag. We loved our stay!

This wa sour second stay at Why Not Acres and we had a 10/10 stay both times. Marian Mike are two of the nicest ppl in the world! Their farmette is lovingly cared for and it shows. If you are camping with an RV they have everything you need for a great experience: a charcoal grill WITH the charcoal, a lighter and starter. A campfire ring with stacks and stacks of firewood along either the kindling. Full hookups and a perfectly level parking pad. A deck with a picnic table AND umbrella.
They have a pond on property where our five year old grandson learned to cast and then caught a fish: thrilling! The rescue miniature horses, donkeys and burros are so tame and friendly.
The sites are very quiet and the beaches are very convenient. We love it there and cannot wait to return!

We were greeted upon arrival & he ensured we got all set up. Would highly recommend & will come back when we’re visiting Delaware again. Thank you! The shop had a great selection of mead and wines, fresh eggs, etc. the pool was nice and clean and there’s a great little nature trail.
