From the flat land at the bottom to the top of the mountain, this is a place where you can find a spot to sit and think, draw, paint, nap, or identify over 30 medicinal plants in their natural habitats (absolutely NO harvesting of medicinals or wildflowers!). Listen to the many birds, spot the wildflowers. Some areas are accessible by wheelchair, while others are not, but all areas offer something to sustain your spirit. If you feel the need to explore the area, you are within walking distance of NotaViva Farm Brewery and Winery, 15 dirt road minutes from the new Sweet Run State Park one direction and Breaux Vineyard in the other direction. The Appalachian Trail is just over the top of the mountain and Harpers Ferry National Park is down the road and over the Shenandoah River. Early September Update: The river is at its 100% peak best summer quality. Still quite warm and PERFECT for lounging, floating, kayaking and snorkeling (20 ft visibility or better). A few details about our sites in the general camping area: Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10,11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6,7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others. Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended. We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans 4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events. Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. Nice place, it is very centrally located to Baltimore and DC. Many people in the past have ended up staying here for long term stays as traveling nurses or physical therapists. Rates will be cheaper for month-to-month leases. Also access is available to nearby hiking areas within walking distance with piney run creek. There is a great park nearby called piney run park within 10 min driving distance. Very nice professional setting.

The location was perfect for us to go to the Dickey ridge entrance of the national park. The river was so beautiful, we spent a full day birdwatching seeing great blue herons, osprey, and northern flickers. Every site has a wonderful view, especially of the stars at night. We had a very nice interaction with both the groundskeeper and Sean’s dad. Everything there is very well cleaned and taken care of. It was not very buggy at all at the end of August/beginning of September, helped in part by many beautiful dragon flies around the river. Great experience ! We will go back again

We had an amazing experience at Amy Camp through Hipcamp! From the moment we arrived, everything was perfect. Check-in was quick, easy, and completely hassle-free. The hosts were absolutely wonderful—friendly, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure we had everything we needed. You can tell they truly enjoy hosting people. The campground is peaceful, quiet, and a perfect place to relax. Even though they’re currently expanding the property, everything was well maintained, and it’s exciting to see the improvements they’re making. We have no doubt it will become an even more incredible destination. The only disappointing part of our stay was that we were only there for one night while passing through on our trip. We honestly wish we could have stayed much longer! If they have availability on our return trip home, we’ll definitely be booking another stay. We highly recommend Amy Camp to anyone looking for a relaxing, welcoming, and well-run Hipcamp. Thank you for your outstanding hospitality—we can’t wait to come back!

My partner and I loved camping here w Alan and his wife. The space was a bit bigger than I thought it would be, which was helpful as our 35 ft Class A has 3 slide outs. When we arrived, there was a little more hidden route we took to get the RV parked where you have to go through taller grass. Our RV is by no means off roading ready, but we made it through with no real issues. Though I think it’s worth noting the trees did scrape our RV a bit, so if that’s a concern for you maybe take that into consideration. For us, it was no biggie but we’re also pretty chill about things like that. Alan guided us to the spot and even walked us through how to plug into the electric and water (as it was our first time). The water is well water so that was awesome too. Alan was really responsive whenever we needed something. There was a trash can that was easy to walk to and an option to park our car on his driveway. There’s even a pool and campfire area! Our power went out for a few days due to a huge storm. Alan went out of his way to bring out a generator for us and even plugged our RV into the power box when it came back on at 3AM. We woke up to a nice cold RV, which was a great surprise as we had communicated being concerned about our 3 animals in the 95 degree July weather. All in all, it’s a great spot. Alan and his wife are good people. We would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Rohrersville Roost

This spot was just what we needed in a quick getaway. The site was lovely and we appreciated the care in setting up firewood for us. A welcome thunderstorm meant we didn't use the firepit, but we did get to see a fawn jump around the field as the rain started. We had such a peaceful evening and awoke to birds chirping and cows lowing. After leaving it was a quick drive to John Brown's cabin/The Kennedy Farm, the C&O canal and Antietam. We would definitely recommend this site and would stay again!

Weekend Trip to Rohrersville Roost

Great property in a fantastic location. Very close to G Washington monument, South Mountain Creamery, Harpers Ferry, and more. Somehow rural and remarkably convenient- there was a ton just 5-10 mins away. West is super nice and a great host. A very impressive mix of animals on his farm and lots for our 2 yr old to check out.

Weekend Trip to Notaviva Farm Brewery & Winery

Beautiful views and the people were great! Notaviva is close to many other wineries in the area that you can visit. It is also close to the town of Harpers Ferry, WV, where can visit a Civil War Museum and enjoy the city's 19th-century architecture. Perfect getaway weekend for those living in the DC metro area.

Camping on Amy and Russ's land was, I was going to say like being at home, but it's way better than home. They have such a lovely spot 😍! The grass is so nice to walk barefoot through. There's plenty of room to relax in peace and quiet. Amy and Russ go out of their way to be helpful if they can with anything you may need. I can't tell you how much they helped with advice and a water heater install! And the other residents of the property are Bonnie and Kevin and they are also very nice and helpful. I'll be back without a doubt. I almost feel like part of the family.

OMG! Amy and Russ are wonderful hosts. They go out of their way to make sure you've been well taken care of. They have enough knowledge and know-how to help you with just about anything for your rig. They have the ability to empty your tanks for you even! Lots of grass and birds make it so pleasant to just enjoy sitting outside. My dog so much enjoyed being able to roll in the grass and going for walks. The water pressure is not good 😐. But! I fill my tank and that does work well! Reception can be kind of spotty? Which doesn't bother me much because I don't choose to be connected quite so much...

Weekend Trip to Notaviva Farm Brewery & Winery

We really enjoyed camping at Notaviva! We had a nice view of their pond and main building (which is really cool!). Communication with the host was great and they are very easy to deal with. Even offered us free firewood! The location is great too. Not only can you walk to a winery / brewery, but super close to Harper's Ferry and Charles Town. Will definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Rohrersville Roost

Had a great time here! Area is so quiet and relaxing. Loved seeing all the animals. Host gave us lots of fresh eggs and even let the wife hold a baby chicken on the way out. Great experience!
