Weekend Trip to Sistermoon Farm

I drove down to attend the Historic Tour in Harper's Ferry and have a mini solo getaway. Maria thought of ALL THE THINGS. Bug spray and candle, lighter, cooking equiptment, roasting stocks, first aid kit... even though you could easily take a quick store trip had you forgotten something, there's no need! She checked in with me to see if I needed anything on the second morning just in case. You can tell she really cares for her land and her guests. Hope to head back for a longer stay sometime!

Weekend Trip to Sistermoon Farm

Absolutely delightful stay and 10/10 would visit again! If you want a cozy getaway in a serene tent under your own canopy of shaded trees, this place is for you. Maria left an array of goodies upon arrival: grill and fire pit supplies, lantern, ear plugs, etc. It was a perfect mix of private space with optimal hammocking spots and not too far from town if you need anything. Loved both grilling and cooking food over the fire. I'd highly recommend if you want a low key glamping experience!

Great place , Randy & Carol are brilliant host's . Campsite is so quiet & very close to nearby aminatiys, this is my 4th or 5th stay here ,as it is very close to the marina in deale, so convenient. Randy will give you perfect directions , if your looking for off the grid a little , then this is the place for you.

We had an awesome time at this site! Even with some bad weather, the trip was still a great experience. The campsite was right on the water—beautiful views, peaceful atmosphere, and the fishing was excellent. The host and his wife were both fantastic—super friendly and helpful the entire time. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great outdoor getaway. We’ll definitely be back!

We stayed at Julie's farm this past weekend. The yurt was super cute and the setup for the pavilion, kitchen area worked well for us. We had hoped the picnic table was bigger. We had 5 of us and all of use could not sit down together at once. The propane grill grates need to be replaced, bring tin foil. We never used the shower, but we used the composting toilet a lot. Definitely not a huge fan of that aspect. We hiked down to the river and it was beautiful. We just wish their was an easy access point to the river. It was very muddy, so we decided to skip getting in. Overall a fun weekend away. Definitely would visit in fall though. It was to buggy for our likening.

Randy is ace—very responsive and on top of things. The 4x4 site was not fancy, but it is perfect if all you are looking for is a mowed spot in the woods with a fire ring (perfect for my needs). The road to get to the spot is not as tight as it looks, just use common sense and take it easy. All in all, perfect.

We had the most perfect time at Riverside Farm. It was our boys first time camping (3&5) and site 2 was perfect for us and our dog. The creek is safe for young children to play and cool off in and right next to your site. Our car needed a jump our last morning and the owner promptly and kindly came to our rescue. We will definitely be back to this site

Seth and Stephanie have created a beautiful haven. We really enjoyed our stay. We will be back. Super nice people. Their staff team member Damien was also quite kind and very helpful. We purchased eggs, spices and meat that look amazing ….. thank you to them both. Btw. Slept soooo well!! 🥰

Weekend Trip to Rohrersville Roost

Camp was very private and relaxing. The goats came and said hello and then carried on grazing. There was some poison ivy growing up by the camp site but easily avoided. Wes had water and firewood set out with a fire pre-built in the ring ready to light.

My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Sistermoon Farm, and I can’t recommend it enough! The tent is in a peaceful & private spot surrounded by birdsong by day and fireflies by night. It was magical. Maria is a kind and responsive host, and the setup has all the comforts you need for a relaxing night away. A perfect getaway!

30 minutes from Washington, DC, nestled within winding scenic roads, a small sign for a narrow one-lane bridge marks the hidden entrance to our 4-acre manicured forest Hideaway. Find an idyllic weathered two-story barn with electrical outlets, a guest bed, a fire circle, hot pepper gardens with rare and super-hot varietals decorating the porch with outdoor table and last-minute BBQ-ing supplies for sale, and, if you ask politely, a hot shower (or cold if we’re out of heating fuel). Depending on site or access, you may be unwinding in the trees, or under the shelter of the barn, gazing out through the large double bay doors. As the moon rises high above the tree tops, lightning bugs emerge and twinkle in the night air, blending the bounds of earth and the starry skies.  The next morning enjoy the sounds of bird song so diverse and chatty you’re likely wonder like I did if you were awakening in a tropical jungle, and not the NoVAn outskirts of Washington, DC. Later in the afternoon, see the Corvids and Falcons gracing skies, or rough and tumbling for territory within the copious canopy above, occasionally crashing tree branches in their battles. Folks with similar hobbies must check in 14 days in advance with Proof of Licensing, and Writ of Intent for flying, and the hosts will get back with approval or request for modification. As the day fades to dusk, families of deer graze and meander across the lawns, and at the first sound of people high tail it into the surrounding forested hills, flashing their white tails as they leap across the 5’ ravine at the edge of The Hideaway’s soft and grassy forest camp grounds. Lodgers: One guest bathroom with a standing-room only shower provides hot water, and basic toiletries to lodging guests. In case of weather, the 4 12-foot high bay doors to the barn can be opened to provide shelter from the rain without compromising access and view to the outdoors. Campers: To remain within compliance of HipCamp's rules, you must bring your own camp toilet: pack in and pack out. We are working on better options, such as renting a Port-a-Potty, so, please mind our dust and remember that we expect your compliance, too. Observatory Park is a roll-top roof Observatory with 4 telescopes, and ample fields for viewing night skies in the Great Falls MPA-193 Region’s International Dark Skies Designated Urban Night Sky Zone. We are within the only one in the Washington DC region, fancy that. A quick visit to The Villages of Great Falls opens a courtyard with Artist's Studios, incredibly smells of local restaurants representing the many villages that locals are united to in their walks of life. The Safeway is 7 minutes away, and closes at 9pm. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property.
