Our home is a winter wonderland that can be enjoyed in all seasons. Almost 200 acres of mild to adventurous hiking in heavy wooded forest, but if you prefer an easy walk there are 30 acres of Balsam fir Christmas trees with a great view from any angle. This is a working tree farm that dates back to the 60s. Park your camper or pop a tent at the top of our fields for a view of the Belfast Bay on a clear day. Or tuck into the trees beyond it for seclusion and shade. Grandpa Jessie has a beautiful man made pond, 130 acres of fields and trails, two lovely elderly rescue horses, a tiny black pony, a giant greenhouse, an extremely friendly barn cat and a fluffy sheep dog who will try to herd you if she gets the chance. What grandpa Jessie doesn’t have is an outhouse, or a pristine yard. However, the pond has fish, the animals are pretty friendly, and there is lots of space to explore! Only 10 mins from Bucksport, 17 mins from Fort Knox, Bangor is about half an hour away and bar harbor is one hour. This property is best suited for older children and adults since there are animals on the farm!

Michelle's cabin was a great spot to stay overnight, she was communicative and clear with directions and always easy to get in touch with. The cabin was quaint, cosy and fit 3 people without a problem, the outhouse and shower were clean and super helpful, too - definitely would stay again!

I had a great time staying at howling goat farm, I personally like the farm atmosphere and all the sounds that go with it! The camping spot was clean and level and has the standard fire ring and I believe an 8 foot long picnic table. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and stay a while in the future.

This was my first Hipcamp and it was great. The cabin had everything we needed and though it definitely got cold, as we were visiting in mid-November, a fire and plenty of blankets kept us warm through the nights. This is a lovely little camping and so peaceful!

Weekend Trip to True Serendipity Homestead

My husband and I were visiting Acadia and spent the night at the rabbit run spot. There was firewood and water set out for us and we were given clear instructions on how to get there. Best of all: a bathroom with a toilet and running water!! You’ll be greeted in the morning by chickens, ducks, and their dog Sadie if you’re lucky. If we’re ever back in the area we’ll 100% be staying here again. Thank you Mike and Cheryl!

Weekend Trip to Howling Goat Farm and Grange

While I didn't personally get to enjoy my overnight stay here due to unforeseen circumstances with my car, Ashley was responsive and also very helpful with my campsite. I was able to get in without any issues, as the instructions were very clear. When my car broke down on the way to a hike after I had set up my campsite, Ashley was willing tear everything down and store it off to the side for me. I am very grateful that there are still good people in the world, and just based on this experience with Ashley, I would highly recommend staying here!

Rebecca is a wonderful host. Always new projects being worked on making Mullen Grove even more spectacular. Rebecca's location is very peaceful and quiet. Whether you just want to sit back and relax, go aight seeing or walking around in the woods. Just an all around 10 as far as locations go. Definitely will continue to stay there in the future.

By far, this was the most pleasant Hipcamp experience I’ve had. Every site at this homestead is nice, well-maintained and easily accessed. The host, Mike, was truly amazing as he went above and beyond to help us out! Upon our arrival, we realized we had some vehicle issues. Mike was more than willing to help accommodate us while we fixed the issue. What could have been a terrible situation was made better by the fact that we had stayed at this location. We would 100% recommend booking any site at the True Serendipity Homestead! You get a quiet, beautiful view and you’re helping a true homesteader!

Super helpful hosts and a nice Hipcamp. It is as advertised for the most part being a rustic cabin. We've stayed in many rustic cabins through Hipcamp. A few things to note: Even though there is a woodstove (we used every night to keep us warm) the cabin does not hold heat because the walls to the cabin have large gaps so we had to use 4 bundles of hardwood a night to keep it comfortable at night (temps in the 20° to mid 30°s) We were somewhat prepared because we knew it wasn't insulated but we were not expecting the amount of heat loss due to all the gaps in the cabin. There are other campsites on the property which are a good distance away (some within sight) We got a little freaked out by a group of campers walking up to the cabin at 10:30 at night and waking us up. (Definitely not the host's fault) but just be aware it's not the most secluded. Being in the cabin it was a little quieter but this spot is off a main road so there is a bit of noise from that but definitely not something that would completely deter me. The host was very helpful when we mentioned that we'd like to drive up to the cabin. They told us we were not able to do that (I'd just suggest taking that as an option off the listing because we chose this site in part because of that having 4wd) but they offered to help us bring our stuff with another wagon attached to the owners tractor which was very nice. The cabin is equipped with everything you would need for rustic camp: pots, pans, water, utensils.
