Recently selectively logged we discovered views of local mountains and decided to take advantage of the clearings. The cabin was built for me to steal away from the house and enjoy the wildlife, quiet, stars and silence. It is too peaceful to keep to myself so come and enjoy all that Norway Maine and the surrounding area has to offer! Learn more about this land: Welcome to Lulu's. Where you can get a little crazy under the moon or you can take in the peace and serenity of the stillness in the woods. Depends on what you are looking for! No neighbors to infringe on your ideal get away. The large cabin has a welcoming front porch to enjoy the amazing sunrises over Streaked Mtn. 100 acres of privacy to hike, watch wildlife and just relax. Cabin has outside facilities. Off the grid-no electric or running water. Cell service is adequate. 1 gallon of fresh well water provided for drinking and 10 gallons for washing/cooking. Bring your own linens for a queen size bed, twin bunk beds and a full pull out couch. 2 pillows are supplied with a pillow protective cover and pillow case which are washed after each guest. Pots, pans and utensils, are onsite which are washed between campers; trash bags, compost bags, paper towels, dish soap, dish towels and a 2 burner propane stove(green canisters needed) and an older propane table top grill are provided. Camp fire grill on site if you prefer cooking over open flame. There are some battery operated light switches and solar lights in the camp and outhouse. Spotted Soul Farm dogs welcome!

We (me and my dogs) moved up here from Boston last year and are enjoying all the sounds of nature, woods walks and mountain views and we hope you will too! Learn more about this land: The 10 acre field is open, partially mowed & offers apples in the fall! The view of the mountain is really nice. Enjoy the fire pit or walk through the 60 acres of woods. Please note, my house is located on the road, in the front corner of the field. It is possible to camp in the field a spot such that you do not have to see my house. You can also camp just behind the field in maple trees (there's a clear path). The other option is to walk into the back back woods and fashion yourself a place to camp if you are feeling a bit more rugged / adventurous - there are paths but they are not newly installed / groomed (originally created for logging activities a long time ago so - rugged). There's a brook at the far side of my property which goes all along the back edge. Nearby Norway Lake is great for swimming, boating, kayaking, etc (public boat launch is an easy drive). This is a great place for road running as well (or road biking if you can handle the hills). Note that the field is a field; there's no road laid in. I can drive into fine in my Sienna but if you have a really low car you might have to walk it. This is rustic camping! There's no electricity or running water. I can provide a 5 gal jug of spring water for drinking / fire dousing (please let me know in advance if you will need this so I can go to the spring). If you are not self contained in terms of bathroom, you are welcome to use my guest bath inside (just have to text me) You should have full cell signal in the middle of the field and in the high points in the back woods (but definitely it drops out in the lower points). There is a barn that is occasionally available for eating / camping; there is electricity & wifi in there as well as lights and tables. There's an extra charge for this & please inquire about availability. Also, very dog friendly - please bring your dogs! Let me know if you'd like me to leave some snow fencing out for you to fashion a bit of an enclosed area. I have some agility equipment & all kinds of mushing equipment if your pup might be interested. Happy to do mini demos / lessons for a small extra fee. I have a spare GPS set up that can be rented while you are onsite. Can also offer dog sitting if you want to go out to dinner / etc and not bring your pup.

The right to roam, also called the right of access, or everyman's right(“allemannsretten”) is a traditional right from ancient times, and since 1957 has also been a part of the Norwegian Outdoor Recreation Act. It ensures that everybody gets to experience nature, even on larger privately owned areas. In our travels to Norway, we learned of this law and loved the concept so much we brought it back with us to America. Yet we had no land to offer. So, we searched...and searched....and searched some more. Then we found what would become camp Streife. 20 acres of uncut timber growth forest, tucked in the hills of Rumford Maine. With a nearby brook, pond and within 20 minutes of some of our favorite ski locations it was just right. The rules of this law are simple. Be considerate and thoughtful. Don't damage nature and other surroundings. Leave the landscape as you would want to find it. Leave no trace. You may put up a tent, or sleep under the stars, for the night anywhere in the countryside, forests or mountains, as long as you keep at least 500 feet away from the nearest inhabited house or cabin. This rule of 500 feet distance also applies to camping cars and caravans. If you want to stay for more than two nights in the same place, you must ask the landowner's permission, except in the mountains or very remote areas. Well, we've taken care of all those Allemannsretten rules for you. We invite you to our small part of the world and encourage you to exercise your right to roam. ATV trails (also can be used for off-road biking)onsite connect with other towns for many miles and hours of riding. Plenty of lakes/rivers for kayaking. Casino, race track and breweries for night life. Oxford Hills has much to offer.

Forty five years ago, our family started assembling 400 acres of woods and fields on the banks of the beautiful Androscoggin River. We enjoy actively managing the property for wildlife habitat and tree growth. The diverse landscape includes over 1/2 a mile of river frontage, a 10 acre wildlife pond, rolling hills in the meadows and steep forested terrain with more than 10 miles of multi-use trails running throughout. Our lands have long been open to local hikers, bikers and cross country skiers, we are excited to share this beautiful property with a larger community. Scout for wildlife and birds, on our private 400 acres of forests and fields. Tire yourself by hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, or cross country skiing the 10 miles of private trails. Located across the river from Riverlands State Park, just minutes from Lewiston-Auburn, Bates College, local breweries and just 2 1/2 hours from Boston. Wildlife abounds both on the property and across the river at Androscoggin Riverlands State Park.Quite often, a gentle breeze off the water will offer relief from black flies and mosquitoes, but the right bug repellent is recommended especially to fend off those pesky ticks that are so common in Maine.

TOAD HALL

Toad Hall is a heated, one room, 8x8 cabin. It's an easy pull in/out - so it's not too far from the road, perfect for your next glamping adventure. Firepit and firewood is provided. This is a popular spot for Overlanders to set up camp and use the cabin as their "living room" or bedroom. There is a cot inside for 2 people, but also feel free to bring your own pads/bedding... Heat is provided via a propane Buddy Heater as needed (smoke/carbon dioxide detector is in the cabin.) There are solar lights inside, along with a USB plug to charge small devices. The cabin is within walking distance to downtown restaurants and public swimming area on Long Lake. There's also porto potties next to the walkable country store, which has everything you forgot to bring. There is no running water or bathroom on the property so we ask you bring a camping potty and do not bury human waste. The Bear River, which is a beautiful spot to swim and wade in, runs right through the property- but it's also drinking water and a protected watershed. Again, please make sure you have a camping potty plan. This is a self check-in/out, so expect an easy anytime-arrival process (and we'll ask you to please leave the property prepared for the next guest to arrive.)

A couple sites have new wooden decks for tents, Yoga or setup some chairs and just relax! These are new sites so we're still working on them. Enjoy your stay! Horseshoe Bend is live! 4 more private sites a few miles away on a deeper part of the Bearcamp River! These will be tent only this year with possibly one RV spot with river access.
