In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. We have trails on the property that are designed for contemplative walks, along with several benches where you can sit in quiet enjoyment, undisturbed by human intrusions. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect. As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsites, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, have been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings. For 2025 we are opening a new site. It is a little more secluded, 2-3 minutes further from the road in a very quiet wooded niche, at the edge of the marsh. It is also a little smaller tent (10' diameter) situated on a platform, and a little more "camping" than "glamping". We are pricing the stay there according. In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare these relatively accessible sites. We believe that they still offer a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude. Botanica Retreat is a project of the Bioregional Conservancy and Reclamation Trust (BCRT), a registered educational not for profit organization dedicated to the Integration of Light and Land, healing assisted by the kingdoms of nature. Coming into a sense of harmony with one Self and others. De-stressing and relaxation are the first steps to healing any dis-ease. You are invited to play, stroll and relax in the meadows and northern forest lands of this 90 acre property. Enjoy a walk along the pond, the brook or the Medicine Wheel. The land offers a food forest of fruit, nut and sugar trees with gardens of wild edibles and medicinal plants. Botanica offers tent sites, yurts/yomes and RV spots (without hook up's). Indoor and outdoor bathroom facilities and showers are available. We host a communal camp fire if desired, and a hot drink at breakfast. We are a project in progress, turning a run-down potato farm to an aspiring center for education and planetary healing. Currently, we are recovering the farm house and adjacent structures with the generous assistance of a group of volunteers and we are endeavoring to bring the soil on the land back to life by making the land accessible to a nearby regenerative farmer. Denali, our farm hound, looks forward to greeting you. The sheep and chickens will also enjoy seeing you. Our farm cabin has a great feel of being connected to nature. It is quiet, cozy and a wonderful place to watch the sunset overlooking grazing animals. The cabin has a queen bed in the downstair bedroom and another double bed in the loft. The couch in the sitting room also folds-out to a double bed for the children. We use high-quality cotton sheets, pillows and down comforters - to assure you will be cozy and feel pampered. We provide coffee/tea service in the morning in our farm store. The cabin does not have heat, electricity or running water. We provide numerous battery-charged lights and candles making this a is cozy, relaxing and perfect way to experience Maine farm life. An outhouse is nearby. We provide an outdoor hot-water shower. Plan to visit our farm store where you can buy goat-milk soap, beeswax candles, organic wool pillows, sheep and goat skins and other creations made by Patti. Loads of hiking trails are right out our door or wander down the gravel road. Visiting the animals (sheep, chickens and, of course, Denali - the farm hound) is always a highlight for guests. Please leave your own dog at home, thank you. Chris is a proud Mainer and natural tour guide. He will be happy to provide you with his favorite recommendations and hidden gems. For the past eleven years, hundreds of people have enjoyed seeing the lambs, walking on our trails, and relaxing in a cell-free zone. Located just 3 miles from Unity & 20 minutes from coastal Belfast, Maine, these Yurt style tents are overlooking 5 acre Wolph Pond nestled in the woods in Amish country. Yurts are furnished & linens are all included. Each individual yurt has its own solar shower just outside. Non-potable water, eco-friendly soaps and shampoo are provided at no charge. The bathroom consists of a clean “two holer” for those of you more comfortable with one another, outhouse, toilet paper provided. It’s a 5 minute walk to Wolph Pond where you’ll find some of the best Large Mouth Bass fishing in Maine. You’ll also catch Crappie, Bluegill and Sunfish if you prefer. We only allow catch & release fishing & ask that you bend the barbs on the fish hooks for the safety of the fish. Feel free to enjoy a paddle in one of our complimentary canoes or get in a leg workout with a paddle boat. Life vests are provided & must be worn at all times if you’re in one of the boats. Inquire about fishing gear rentals if you don’t have any or forgot to bring it. Ample parking provided & solar lights will guide you to your yurt. There are three units in total so if there are other guests occupying other units please be respectful and courteous. 2 nights at Riverview cabin

This was a great cabin! Had everything we needed and kept us nice and warm through the night. Jamin was super helpful in showing us how to get to the cabin when we arrived in the dark. Did some fishing and was perfect for our two nights. We were there in mid November and were so grateful he kept the cabin running for us.

Weekend Trip to 100 Mile Wilderness Cabin

This was our second visit to Paul's cabin and did not disappoint again. Paul made sure there was enough water and wood to last our stay. There is now a flushing toilet outside which was a nice treat. There are many fantastic walking trails close by including the Appalachian Trail. This time round we spent time at North Pond and Juniper Knee Pond and hiked 4ish hour to Little Wilson Falls (there and back and time at the falls).

Weekend Trip to Trees of Life Retreat (ToLR)

My pup and I had a great time at ToLR. We had a hilarious greeting of turkeys and hens and then about 100 yards then to the right and we were there! The happy birds were a highlight each morning, the nuthatches were busy. The trails behind the woodshed were lovely and quiet. The cabin was so clean and so thoughtfully done. We didn’t want to leave and will for sure be back. Such a lovely and peaceful place.

7 nights at Turtle Marsh- secluded wooded site.

Really unique and amazing stay, can't recommend this place enough! Learned about three medicinal mushrooms that grow on the property through the walks with Peter and Willie. Some neat evidence of beaver activity was spotted as well. You can hear barn owls in the evening. If you did get any rain or wind while there it's rather pleasant. Was nice to know if you do need anything the cabin and Peter were a short walk away. I even got Peters book which I can't wait to read!

Weekend Trip to Cabin of the Woods at Tilden Pond

Robert's cabin at Tilden Pond is a wonderfully secluded get away spot with a beautiful woods walk (15mins) to the pond. We were happy about being able to park next to the cabin for easy unloading of gear. We liked making meals over a camp stove we brought and at the fire pit to calls of loons and owls. We brought our own tent but opted to stay in the cabin on the cots provided, which were comfortable with our sleeping pads and bags. Our dog loved having the woods to romp in unleashed. The sunset at the pond was a highlight. On a future trip we hope to take advantage of the double kayak. We saw others kayaking, sailing, and fishing off in the distance. Robert has done a good job repairing the road recently but it is important to have a truck or vehicle with good clearance to drive in. We loved having both Belfast and Camden only minutes away.

We loved our time at Slippery Rock Trail! The site is very private, quiet and well-maintained. We loved being able to kayak along the river and take naps in the hammock. The bed was comfortable and the outhouse was clean & well-stocked. The hosts warmly greeted us when we arrived to take us to the site, gave us a map with the surrounding walking trails, and made sure we had everything we needed to make sure our stay was a pleasant one. :)

1 night at Porcupine Creek Rustic Camping

I can’t wait to come back! My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this. The set up was perfect, Jeff and Cathy have gone above and beyond with making sure their guests feel comfortable and enjoy their stay. We stayed in the Owls Nest, it was super cozy. There was a whole outdoor kitchen set up with all the kitchen supplies you need. They supplied fire wood, kindling and fire starter! They had jugs of water, a very nice clean bathroom set up. There is a lot of cute animals around too, we saw a few deer, and a porcupine with its baby! We were so impressed with Jeff and Cathy’s hospitality and can’t wait to come stay in the Owls Nest next season :)

Sweet little cabin in the woods! Jamin was super accommodating and even built an outside fire for us prior to arrival. More spacious than you might think for a small cabin. We opted not to use the generator but it was nice to have that option. We enjoyed staying here as a launch point for the weekend of the Common Ground fair just up the road in Unity. Felt very cozy and private. Could be great for a small group of people or just a couple like us.
