Karen’s Campsite - Boyden Lake

I grew up spending summers at Boyden’s Lake in the same camp my parents still own. As an adult, I bought a camp on the same lane as my parents’ camp. We call my camp “Karen’s Cabin” to differentiate between the two camps. I have been renting my cabin by the week in the summer. I also own the vacant lot next to my cabin lot. I would like to rent my vacant lot to people with RV’s. A friend of mine suggested that I rent it because more people are traveling in RV’s these days. It is a nice spot, a gravel lot near Boyden’s Lake with beach access. I am posting this on August 10th, 2021. It is available immediately. If all goes well and I rent the lot this year, hopefully, I can get feedback on amenities to add next year. Visit Boyden’s Lake, I hope you like it as much as my family does.

The Point

It was purchased by my grandmother Janet Orr Strater in the 40s. Prior to that a family settled the land as a vacation home retreat to get away from city life. For a while it was run for a while as a bnb inn and had a bar in the basement for locals called 'weenippinook.' Before that much of the surrounding land was farmland.
It was inherited Jeremy Strater who opened it for brief stint in the 70s as a nudist hippie commune during his wildman phase. That's when the A-frame cabin was built, and used for artist's retreats, perhaps fueled by some of the mind opening/altering substances of the day. Jeremy later tended to the land, kept in tree growth, as a woodsman.
The point is our home, offered to guests as a place for seekers of peace and solace to gain a better relationship and appreciation with nature in a world that has forgotten the importance and connection we all have with the planet that sustains us.
A priority here for me is keeping this land pristine and respected. Our mission to save and protect our natural environment and keep it natural and wild can only be accomplished with the active mindfulness of you. We aim to prove that hipcamp can be a magical experience for private landowners and campers alike, to provide a means of temporal community and beneficial alternative to traditional campgrounds; one that does not degrade the environment and break the peace that small towns still contain. Please be mindful of the trash you generate and mindful of the noise you are making— we aim to provide seekers of peace a *quiet* time in nature.
Together we are here to be an example to others of what mindful camping can look like in this changing world. Thanks for caring to come, see, explore, learn
